A German Door to Door (Think old school Tupperware, or Avon), Vorwerk selling their Thermomix Machine in the US, are useing the Merican Fweedom units, instead of the international Sci-units. Whod have thunk it? Better question do you need to know a guy, who knows a guy, who sells Vorwerk Appliances, or can you buy these in a Store?

I don't own a Vorwerk Thermomix, but I do own the next best thing a Lidl Monsieur Cusine Smart. Which is more or less exactly the same thing. But only ⅓ of the intial cost plus you don't need to know a guy who knows a guy pending Vorwerk Devices. Not sure how the sell em in the States. Here in Germany they are sold old school Tupperware / Avon party style. The Lidl version is sold either in ther stores, or on-line. In case you never heard of Lidl they are basicly a competitor to Aldi in that space. But to answer your question yes you can mix shakes, and other smoothies in these devices. It is after all just blender, with a cooking element. Leave the heating element off, and it can blend ice creams, sobets, and or Frozen Yoghurts as well.* *It will mix them, but you still have to pour them into a container, in a freezer to set. Alas, its not a true icecream machine in that sence. But both the TM, and the MC have built in recipes to guide you along.
