My range rover had some overheating issues much like some other range rover owners.. after doing a coolant flush, it helped slightly but the check engine light then told me to replace the temperature thermostat! After looking online for some help i was only able to fine older cars and different engines.
Hopefully this video will help anyone else with a 2006 HSE!

How did you take off the adapter piece from the old thermostat housing???? Removing the metal clip does not easily remove the adapter.

I just had my replaced due to very small leak from the housing. Was thinking to try stop leak liquid but after thinking twice i took it to mechanic. They charged me for 3.1 hours. I asked for the old part, took it home and opened to see out of curiosity. The rubber seal has already kind of melted (main reason for the leak). A plastic round plastic part inside the housing which is touching the spring was also broken.

Thank you so much! I was driving mine 3,000km (2,000miles) across Canada and in the middle of nowhere it just started spewing coolant and overheating. Nothing in sight for 300 kilometers in any direction, so I just had to sleep in -20 in the back and wait till the morning and add more coolant that I luckily had and limped it to a gas station. It overheats with the heat on at speeds under 70km/hr (45mph), and drives fine any speed without heat. Is the problem the thermostat or an improperly bled cooling system? Thanks!!

Not sure why but my 2006 hse sport also has a 4.4l but the thermostat housing is plastic and shaped much differently

If your heater isn’t working it could be the vent temp actuator. My moms (now brothers) Land Rover is having the exact same issue so she brought it into my shop and it was reading bad. We just cleared the codes because she didn’t want to pay to get it fixed and it worked for a little while
