What's there to complain about a 36 Baht meal? I'm no snob. Similar take-out where I'm would cost me more than 200 Baht! edit: That could feed an average young engineer on 24K Baht PM a lot of meals!

Mmmmh! Pad Krapao (Kai Dao) is my absolute favourite, go-to Thai dish. That, and Laab (Gai or Moo). Really love those flavours.
I’m so impressed with your expertise in Asian food. Even Thai people, some don’t know that chilies can give different taste. I like watching your review in Thai food. ❤❤❤

Just returned from Bangkok and Thailand. We were so much more adventurous thanks to you Gary and ate in some of the many places you have covered. We love cooking and food but just knew a bit more about how to order when there was no English menu and what everything was. Can’t wait to return next year. Thank you and wish you much success.

Pad Kaprao is actually the current Thailand everyone dish, we all eat it and we all love it and come with different spicy level but the flavor and quality can be varied depend on chef technique. If your location has good pad kaprao then you can easily survive lunch time.

In Thailand they care about details. From the ornate temples and sculptures to the detail of how an egg is fried - crispy with burnt edges yet perfectly runny yolk. "Good enough" is not acceptable in Thailand, it has to be perfect.

Thank you for putting these together although I had most of them saved in my Google Maps already from watching your videos. 😅 Although I'm a fiend for Kaprao I do miss dried suki with that insanely flavorful suki sauce. When in Bangkok, I would go to Manop Suki in Talat Noi every other late night. I knew it was legit when not a single person spoke English and it was full of only locals sitting on stools in the alley.

@SuperDorame Жыл бұрын
Normal padkaprao is good, pad kaprao by dry chili is the best. In Thailand, padkaprao is basic food, when kids start cooking ptactice by themselves, the dish shall be Khai Jeaw, Khai dao and Padkaprao. ❤ If any food stall make padkaprao not delicuous, we cannt expect other menu already. Padkaprao should be delicious by Basil megic halfway , the rest to complete it should be basic for cooker ❤.

Hi Gary that’s the thing though, overseas there is only Thai basil or normal basil, I tried cooking with these two and preferred normal basil. I’m curious to know how holy basil tastes like. Like the first one,, looks simple
I’m very excited for my trip, I have actually cooked pad kra pao without trying the real deal.

Absolutely loved this one Gary. As exactly what I've been looking for. I can study each one and then combine to create the perfect kaprao back in the UK. I think phed mark is the most complex and interesting. It also had a really unusual flavour.... maybe the black pepper paste. Great stuff mate. I've got some holy bail here so I'll get cracking after I take some notes. Just one question. Do you not pronounce the R in kaprao ? Until next time. Cheers mate.
@chanyajaranyanonta1818 Жыл бұрын
We pronounce "Ka-Prao". So there is the R at the second word. Cheers.

Not once have i ever seen real holy basil available back here in the uk and I'm always looking, anyone in the comment section know of a merchant or have a link where i can order some?
Wonder how you found the second place. The soi is busy because it is a short cut only. It goes through a leather market and to a fresh food market. The main road to Wongwianyai can be very busy. Be careful walking in that small soi. It is narrow and busy.

Gary, if you ever figger out how to do those fried eggs without a wok (can't do it where we live on an old style electric stovetop), let me know.

You have to use a lot of oil and pour the hot oil on the egg white. Other method to keep the yolk from cooking is separate the yolk and the whites, then fry the white first until it’s half cooked, put the yolk on top but you still have to use a lot of oil and pour it on the white part. Hope that helps
@eswillie Жыл бұрын
@@gchow6009 Thanks. Will try that first method.

Use a small cooking pot or deeper saucepan with an inch+ deep of oil wait till oil heated up crack an egg into a bowl first then gently pour it in hot oil🥚🍳

And comment for #ร้านยายเฉื่อย if you've had it since 20 years ago when I was in high school.(I and friend call ยายเฉื่อย too). I think you'll be more WOW!!! than the present. and my favorite menu is Moo Gatiam Prik Thai with kai dow.(stir fried pork with garlic and pepper and fried egg). I notice in the beginning of the video Gary orders and finish the sentence with a "neh" sound. Same after he ask for spicy, "pet pet neh". Also when pointing out the black soy, he ask the woman about some other ingredient, "This one's black soy right, what's that?", and ending the sentance with a 'neh' sound. So neh is please in certain context in thai?
