My assumption as to why pokemon say their species names is that it provides a duel purpose of being easy and being recognizable. They don't have to audio engineer any animal like cries, just have voice actors say the names. Plus, having a pokemon say it's associated name is incredibly good for the brand. It reenforces to kids what their favorite pokemon's name is.

A lot of these questions... WERE answered though by the creators, In the pokeball they said "it is a comfortable place like habitat" rough rough translation And if I was wrong on that, This next one is 100 percent confirmed ASH IS 10 because the creator said "Ash will always be 10, it's for the anime" He was telling american interviewers it was the suspended timeline principle in his own way, Like the simpsons etc, it has nothing to do with a special secret, He is 10 for the animations sake, He does not need to age. Now... You can't RELY on their answers, the pokemon creators have a habbit of changing what they say, so down the line, they may MAKE a storyline to please fans, but as of now THEY SAID IT.

IIRC there's an in-house rule that humans can't react to specific syllables of a Pokémon's name, so it's probably just a way for the audience to know a Pokémon's name and not a canon thing. Also why would Pokémon only be able to say the name given to them by humans, that doesn't make sense.

My headcanon is that all Pokémon CAN learn to speak…but the more humanoid the Pokémon, the easier it is…there’s also psychic-type Pokémon that can just communicate telepathically

in my story I'm doing for pokemon,since ash has been in 8 different regions at this point,in my story he would be 16 or 17 by the time he goes to paldea (yes since the anime decided to end ash's arc,I'm going to put him in paldea in my story,so that way he ages along during his journey in 8 regions,I guess I could make him 19 once he hits paldea in my story) that way it can feel like he's been 17 and 18 in alola

oh man.. so many non sensical stuff said here.. 1. in pokemon black & white there is a scene that clearly shows the inside of the poke ball and Irisis charmelion inside 2. in third season of pokemon ash's voice gets deeper and thro out the seasons you can see him maturing normally 3. leevanny is not a plant pokemon, it's a bug type.. there is a difference between a bug type, a grass type and a plant type... a very obvious one... 4.pokemon talking thing was explained in the very first season.. not much of the mystery there...

Meowth using up all his smarts makes perfect sense; he's fluent in four different languages, and each language counts as a move. Pokémon saying their names is definitely a marketing thing. The amount of wordplay in their names implies that if they do say their names, then humans built their entire language around Pokémon, which is pretty dumb. I prefer to think that their in-game cries are their normal vocalizations. Pikachu gets a pass because its name is an onomatopoiea already. As an aside, naming animals after the sounds they make isn't that absurd in principle; the ancient Egyptian word for cat is Mau, and the word for donkey is Ia. In Japanese, the word for frog is カエル, the etymology of which is uncertain, but may be an onomatopoiea, with ル appended for grammatical reasons. The English word cuckoo is also derived from the bird's call. These are just off the top of my head; onomatopoieic animal names are very common in southeast Asia especially. As a further aside, the word wolf is not an onomatopoiea; it's just a coincidence. The word pussy (as in the cat, you pervert) is derived from the psspsspss sound people use to get cats' attention. As a further aside, the word pussy went from meaning cat to meaning anything kept as a pet and shown off as a status symbol, such as a misogynistic billionaire playboy showing off his groupies, and thus became used as a demeaning term for women, and eventually their lady parts in general. There, now you know the history of a naughty word. Please avoid using it to objectify women. Back on topic and only slightly less inappropriate, I'm pretty sure people in the Pokémon world know where eggs come from. You're just playing as a child and the daycare workers are old people, so they don't want to tell a stranger's child about sex, and your 11 year old ears probably don't want to hear old people talk about sex either. If you look at the different egg groups, they seem to correspond to how these Pokémon would sexually reproduce, if they were real animals. I'd imagine the main difference is that mammalian monsters still lay eggs instead of giving live birth like real animals. There's also a Human-like Egg group, which means there's a Game Freak approved list of Pokémon you're allowed to have sex with. No, you degenerate, Vaporeon isn't on it. Lopunny, Gothitelle, and Machamp are on it though, and they are so much sexier than that fucken merfox. But whatever, you do you while I impregnate my Lopunny wife with our seventh unholy crossbreed child.

I'm more than tired of people still writing the same crap. You're probably going to tell me to ignore this comment, but the problem is that I've been patient for years, genius. The solution would be to have less of this gender of comment. But that's too much to ask for someone like you. (Sorry, I'm just countering the arguments that many people gave me.) It's just that it's very tiring to see the same kind of comments. If you have nothing original and relevant to say, then shut up. You can comment whatever you want. It’s just that this ‘joke’ of commenting ‘first’ on every video in existence has gotten so old it’s firmly considered cringe these days. Yeah posting a comment helps the algorithm or whatever, but anybody who comments ‘first’ could just as easily comment ‘Cool!’ And it would at the very least be a nice comment and not just an entirely worthless statement.
