Fantastic album. Wonderful snare drum sound and incredible energy in the band. I wish they'd play more of it live these days, rather than the same old hits. Before recording my own album "Nama Time!", I had the sound technician listen to "This Place Is Empty", and I told him "That how I want you to capture my voice".

I've been lucky enough to have seen the Stones twice, each time was amazing. One of the things I think propelled the Stones into greatness aside from raw talent is they never abandoned their roots. They breezed through the psychedelic era babble babble musically unscathed. They always came back to what I love about this band, good old rock n roll, blues and R&B. I just love the Stones. They are to me like the Beny Moré and Celia Cruz of rock n roll

“It won’t take long” is the best song of the album by far. “Stealing my heart” from “Forty Licks” is another great song. Unfortunately They have never played alive. The new album could be based on these songs and “Ghost Town”.

Hi ! I'm reading every mornings the book "The Stones by themselves", and I learn things everydays. For exemple, when they made Auditions to search a new Bassist, Ron Wood was always proposing to the guys if they didn't wanted a Guiness. But when Darryl Jones came in, Ron had just proposed a Beer, and Darryl Jones had answered "I'd like to have a Guiness !". They had immediatly thought "He's the one we're searching for", cause as they said, they "weren't searching for a good Bassist, (all the Bassists they had auditionned were good), but they were searching for someone who could live with guys like the Stones". A very interesting Band. I saw them just once, in 1981, but that show will stay in my mind for ever. CIAO BYE !

After a few careful listens, after an immediate, out of hand rejection of it. I heard everything that I love about Sticky Fingers, Let It Bleed, Exile (greatest album ever) and a couple of other albums, is on this album. I came to the conclusion that the final mix was done trying to avoid repeating familiar sounds. That, I think was a mistake. Like the 2 guitars on 'Can't You Hear Me Knockin' it's all on here but, the mixing obscured the individuality of the different lead trax. That left it unmemorable. 'Some Girls' DISC 2 Leaves this in the dust,.
