I'm pretty sure that's a harpsichord, not a guitar. It's a classical European instrument similar to a piano that instantly evokes the Baroque "fancy" uppity fantasy feel.

Fischl is such a character. A chuunibyo in fantasy land, she is always so extra. As for this music, the general consensus I found was, "They put a track this amazing in a seasonal event?!"

As someone who speaks German, I at least can give you translations of the song titles. In order of your playlist: "Tagelied nächtlicher Gedanken" = day song of nightly thoughts "Traum durch die Dämmerung, erster Satz" = dream through the dawn, first movement "Traum durch die Dämmerung, zweiter Satz" = dream through the dawn, second movement "Das Folkwanglied" = the song of Folkwang (Folkwang is a name that originated from Norse mythology, but in German it is a conception that means that art should be available for all people) "Ein vogellin, so wol getan" = A little bird, so beautiful (this is actually old German from the Middle Ages at around 1230, in modern German it would be "Ein Vögelein, so schön") "Die Mittsommernacht-Fantasie" = the mid-summer night fantasy The song titles are very reminiscent of how Mozart titled his songs. That is just my opinion, though. As for playing the acoustic guitar in German culture, it is there, but not as prominent as say in Spain. Also, it is used mostly in the populace and not so much in aristocratic ("classical") settings. Last, but not least, I adore Fischl, I got her very early when I started, and I get her back into my teams regularly. I used to be a goth in my teens, and still love the esthetic, but also her whole character is very fun. Although, I won't ever understand why they named her Fischl. It is a shortened form of Fischerl, which just means little fish. It isn't actually a name. Maybe it is just a fantasy 😉

i absolutely adore fischl because i relate to her so MUCH. when i first saw her, i didn't think too much about her and thought how she talked to be silly. realised we have the same birthday and went "oh cool!" then i read her story, it was sinking in how similar we were in terms of childhood and our love for daydreaming. then i did the GAA event and at the very end- i teared up. it felt like looking in a mirror. from the scenes of her parents telling her to grow up, to her talking about being unable to face reality and handle criticism, it was exactly like me. and fischl was told things i wish someone told me so i cried hearing all that. a wonderful character with banger themes fischl is my favourite ❤️❤️❤️

5:14 The "twanginess" is from a harpsicord, the precursor to the piano. This was used often in the Baroque era of music. The first tracks were played during the outside of the domian as I recall, which became a castle as you unlocked the region.

@@TheRoschi if you want to hear more harpsichord in 'FANTASY pop culture' I suggest you to take a look at The Addams Family franchise (especially the old 1964 television series), they are very 'baroque' so that instrument is the right one for them. The opening of the '64 series was a banger (with a lot of harpsichord in it) and very often their butler Lurch used to play the instrument during episodes.

@@TheRoschi Just to add: the reason it sounds so bright and metallic is because a harpsicord plucks the metal strings with small metal picks/plectra, as opposed to the piano which strikes the strings with a felt-covered hammer

This was the event that introduced Sumeru's concepts, dreams and imagination It was also the first appearance of Nahida(voice) basically everything in this event happened due to the memories of the 4 protagonists of the event Fischl, Mona, Xinyan and Kazuha, all of their pasts were excellently explored, like more than 1 hour of lore for each one I hope that one day you watch a recording of this event and see the past of Fischl and the others

I was expecting only Die Mittsommernacht-Fantasie for this premier but I'm really happy you reacted to all her themes! Even just from the OST you get to know more about her, just as the story in the Archipelago did. But don't worry, you'll get tidbits of her story all around Mondstadt and even in their Hoyofair videos! (Notably HoYoFair 2023 Spring XD) Other than that, wonderful reaction! ​I hope your journey in the fantasy world of Teyvat will continue to bring you more curiousity and joy! Oh and if there's one thing I'd love for you to react to, then I'd suggest "Moon in One's Cup"! I've heard it so many times, be it from concerts or fan covers, but it never ceases to make me tear up. Golden Apple Archipelago's are always bundles of magic, the first bringing in our classic summer music, the second more character centered and varied, and the newest being a fun carnival. Still praying for a way to experience them again(though they have mentioned that they're working on a way to bring these events back a while ago, it's taking them a while, probably because of storage issues among other things), these alone are perfect reasons to look forward to summer again. Fischl is such an awesome character perfect beyond FANTASY, this music matches her incredibly, Die Mittsommernacht-Fantasie has been on my music playlist for more than a year and still always hypes me up, glad you enjoyed listening to the tracks :)

Hoyoverse has stated that they are working on a way to have a replayable version of past limited time events that won't include the exclusive rewards in the orignal versions. They've already implemented this feature in Star Rail, so hoping they'll be able to do so with Genshin in the near future, though it might take some time, since Genshin is a relatively older game.

When you talk about hearing a similar phrase of music in another piece, these are called leitmotifs! It's a particular phrase that is tied to a concept, region, or in this case, a character! The instrumentation, the period of time or region of music they pull from, inspiration from already popular songs or artists - it's all used to give you quick easy ties in your mind to the ideas Mihoyo wants you to remember - even when they pull out a character thats 3 years old. Fans know when there are obvious (or even secret) references to things like the Fatui or a specific character, with only hearing the leitmotifs, if the music shares themes with a specific region.. it's all in the music!

I'm so happy you reacted to Fischl's GAA ~fantasy music! Your comments on the combat music is similar to another youtuber named MarcoMeatball (former opera singer, reacts to video game music). Marco specifically highlights how genshin always is able to take classical music and make them modern. For the combat music, you have traditional orchestral instruments, along with the harpsicord, and suddenly you combine it with the electric guitar riffs. The old and new compliments each other to the point that they elevate the genre to a whole new level! Simply incredible. Imagine you're walking around in Fischl's castle domain, solving the picture puzzles. Then you're like, oh hey a hilichurl - let's kill it. Then sudden this incredible piece of combat music comes on and you get lost in it. Oh man, I as so surprised to hear this banger while fighting random hilichurls and abyss mages. So good!! Kazuha and Mona was also featured in the GAA event, and I also loved what they did with them during that. Kazuha's story was about his family background to events leading up to the Inazuma archon quest story line. It was emotionally intense at points, especially towards the end. I love Kazuha. Mona's area was more puzzle heavy, and the puzzles there are harder than your average genshin puzzle, and I enjoyed every second of it immensely. Xinyan was also there, but I didn't care as much about her. Her story was still wholesome though!

Many events of Genshin One of my favorite events is GAA. It's so peaceful and feels like a real vacation. At the beach and with beautiful music Even though 2.8 has too many puzzles, some people don't like it.Unfortunately, this year we did not return to GAA. But I still like this year's event. About the song die mittsommernacht-fantasie In case you didn't know, this song is a remix of Fischl signature song. If you can't figure it out, you can go back and listen to Fischl character demo. P.S. On the 27th or 28th, Genshin will have Version 4.2 Special Program and of course, trailer version 4.2 You can prepare to wait. But I don't recommend that you watch the full 1 hour live. Because in the live there will be an explanation of the story 4.1 But if you're not serious, you can watch it.

Fischl's themes have such a unique color and personality to them, I love them. Some of my favourite character pieces. I remember getting into fights in Fischl's castle in Golden Apple and just running around in circles with the enemies so I could listen to Die Mittsommernacht-Fantasie. 😅

@@TheRoschi Oh no, don't worry. The game has a ridiculous amount of lore and foreshadowing that unravels as you explore and progress. It took a couple years for us to start getting larger lore bombs. This particular piece of info was foreshadowed in 1.0, so it's very plausible that Fischl was written with it in mind.

I played Genshin for a couple days when it originally released in 2020 and barely did anything in the game. I don't think I ever got past the prologue. It was dropped due to various things happening. Now, years later, I'm rediscovering... and learning more. I usually do a lot of theory-crafting in my reactions and generally have no idea what I'm talking about but it's been fun haha. There will be gameplay videos of my experience getting back into it after all this time. :)

Yeah, you my friend hit the ground freaking bolting in your music appreciation journey for genshin music with this one. It’s kind of a shame and little bit ironic that arguably one of the, if not the greatest battle theme in the whole entire game was just a one time thing with a limited incredibly well written event about a girl using grand “fantasy” like stories and conjectures about her to cope with essentially her inner insecurities. Not the main story about the 7 ruling gods mind you, but a kid who in her cringeyness proofed to be one of the most relatable characters in Genshin. Btw my music nerd is going to take over here, there is most definitely story telling within Fischl’s battle theme. I know you already touched the mix with classical instruments with a electric guitar, but did you notice how 3/4ths of the way in the electric guitar and the violins where playing the same notes one right after the other? Almost as if the electric guitar and the violins were exchanging blows. Only for the electric guitar to give all that it’s got in the ending frantically making notes up and down the scale, only the track to end on the violins (or classical side) to subdue it. Think about it and really listen, the track opens up a classical energetic rhythm but it’s all most showing off (like a certain grandeur then life mondstat girl) it isn’t until the electric guitar starts slowly creeping in that the “classical instruments/parts” start to panic making the rhythm feel rushed. No I’m not a musician, and I did not give out spoilers, I just like analyzing music and just like music in general.

This one was not made by Yu Peng Chen. Yijun Jiang is the main composer for Die Mittsommernacht-Fantasie, I think Yu Peng Chen is only credited because of the use of Fischl's theme he originally created, but he will be missed.

I dunno if I can make a request in the comments, so lets just say it's a suggestion. There are many musical tracks in this game worthy of a reaction and analysis, but I feel you would enjoy uncovering some very special ones (which others have overlooked). Like this battlle theme that contains vivid imagery, we have "Irresistible Force", a track from the Xiao-Yelan Chasm quest (my favorite before the last act of Sumeru archon quest hit). It contains some intense emotions you'd love deciphering, and then discover it's full message during the game fights (actually, maybe a particular fight?). The Chasm has some glorious tracks, and this one will always be special to everyone who played that quest.

OMG, I love that piece, it is great (also "Tremor of Menace" wich is basically the same with some different instruments). The Xiao-Yelan Chasm quest was one of my favorites, too. Chasm music hits different. It is melancholy yet hopeful (at least the above ground tracks).

Second Golden Apple Archipelago event was fantastic, one of my favorites in fact. Pity events don't stay. The atmosphere on all four islands was so well done. Fischl's one had a whole castle with talking ravens, but Kazuha, Xinyan and Mona also had islands dedicated to their aesthetics and stories. I personally think Kazuha's part of the story and his island were the best Although I still remember people complaining about the puzzles being too hard compared to the first event

I don't know if was because the long delay for content Hoyo had due to lockdowns before this summer event, or my life and free time at that point, but to me the 2nd Apple Archipelago event and the Sumeru launch that followed it, was peak Genshin experience for me so far. Fischl and Mona are always amazing, the baroque castle dark feel of Fischl and the starry sky theme of Mona, plus their personalities and lore. Plus Kazuha lore gave more context leading into Scaramouche events in Sumeru, and the whole dream-technology aspect and Nahida voice at the end perfect lead in for Sumeru.

That guitar stretching part that you mention, for me personally it brings to mind the Daft Punk song Veridis Quo. It has the same kind of somber gothic vibe to it. That said, I hope HoYoVerse will make a side quest in the game that will re-enable some of these past events to become replayable again. Maybe an artifact that Alice leaves for the Traveler so that they can experience the past again however many times they would like but cannot change the overall outcome.

All of that music was background music and in the event it played the role exceptionally well because it did set up the atmosphere without disturbing. Even the battle theme was hard to notice as one was more concentrated on killing attacking enemies than on listening to music. That, and since such battles are usually over quite fast it needs something extra for the music to have time to actually start. So it took me a while to even realize what a banger it is. I did not think much of Fischl until that event. The event made me love her. To understand her personality, what's in her past and why is she doing things the way she's doing them. And it also made me hate her princess skin because in the event it represented her evil alter ego. I wish so much I could relive that event, it was SO great. Unfortunately at present the best you can do to learn more about Fischl is to find someone's playthrough. Maybe in the future Hoyo will make it available somehow as optional downloadable content but at present, people, especially mobile players, are already complaining a lot about size of the game and it would be much worse if all these limited time events stayed in.

Fischl was depressed, she was having harder time coping with her imaginary world and social pressures, so Klee feeling sorry for Fischl not having her kingdom asked her mom for help. Alice gave Fischl the Golden Apple Islands to be her kingdom. So long story short Fischl, Mona, Kazuha, and Xinyan have experiences to confront their pasts and learn to be at peace with themselves. Meanwhile you are also helping some Fatui that got themselves stuck there with a science project that backfired. And you talk to Nahida's voice briefly at the end.

Sorry for the confusion! I played the game when it first came out in 2020. Fischl was one of the first characters I pulled for. There are no videos and streams of it, and I stopped playing before completing the prologue. Now, years later, I'll be restarting and making videos to document the experience... Soon. :)

You're better off just watching stuff on youtube. Golden Apple was basically the biggest arc we got for Fischl's lore and it's now lost to the void like a lot of things.
