One thing I'll mention here is that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how you can hear influence from both Inazuma (because of his origin) and a bit of Sumeru (the region this takes place in). Incredible. I can't stop listening to this. XD

I know you said you got mostly into reacting to Genshin stuff because of the lore, but how much have you caught up with Scaramouche's story? And yeah, that song is incredible! There is a second official 'live' version, too by the way (with the text added as subtitles here on KZbin), which is also very nice, but I prefer the original one.

@mini-mei I know mostly of what I do by putting things together through the version trailers and some comments from those videos. People get pretty excited about Scaramouche so spoilers were all over the place. I'm sure there are a few things I still don't know 100% though. I'm excited to play and see how it's all presented. :)

his theme is so thought out, i love it. the japanese lyrics about his abandonment, pointing to his origins as the wandering puppet/kabukimono and the latin lyrics to symbolise the perspective of the balladeer. the little inazuman part is almost like his past reaching out to him in the midst of his anger, or the agony he feels deep down that he tries to push aside

Something I love about Hoyoverse (the Souls franchise and many JRPGs do this) is their ability to tell the bosses' stories through the soundtrack. I'll avoid spoilers, but there's a boss in Inazuma that tells the whole story, motivation, dreams and hopes of the character in a 7-minute song.

It might be considered spoilers to even know who those bosses are, though you probably have an idea having watched all the version trailers. I'm so glad you're diving into the music. Fun fact, the singer is supposed to be Scaramouche. In the translation you can hear him telling his story from the beginning to the moment we face him. The translation makes this song and his journey so meaningful and add so much depth to his character brilliant song

Fun Fact: The first part of the song us called "Ominous Fandango". That being said, he did the Fandango in front of us. One of my favorite songs in the game, and might stay at its spot for a long while, maybe Arlechino or Capitano's Theme being able to compete. The theme of the next version weekly boss is also incredibly cool.

- How symbolic this song is, I can't. Lower is some lore, I guess. While almost all of it in latin, there're pieces of japanese lyrics (Inazuma-ish), which makes impression of Scaramouch asking Raiden (his mother) "Why did you throw me away?" [They were written like "why you didn't give me a name?" which comes off from one japanese tradition of naming the newborn in 7 days. By the way, Scara was thrown away on 5th day from his creation.]

They linked the OST of a certain region of Inazuma to his song which perfectly makes sense considering his backstory. Maybe one day while farming, you'll listen to "A Hollowed Skull" and it clicks! The musical connection in Genshin is terrific. Even in the recent limited time event, they made closure to a theme known over 2 years ago.

This was one of my favorite boss themes! When I fought Scaramouche for the first time, I was so blown away that I immediately stopped attacking just so that I can hear the OST for a little longer. The choir did an amazing job! Literally stopped me in my tracks lol. Great video, Mercury!

If you're interested, the Genshin Impact wiki page has translations for "Rhapsodia Roscida" (Phase 1) and "Polumnia Omnia" (Phase 2) based on the official lyrics. Though, the translation you read is not quite accurate but also not too far off. Also, mercury :)

This song was highly anticipated for me. Just like his demo, I wanted to see the similarities to Raiden's themes. The pain in his themes, the anger and anguish... @@TheRoschi nevermind! The special program and trailer that were supposed to come out in a few hours are delayed for now. A former Chinese politician died and now the country is in a mourning Period. It's the second time Genshin got influenced by this, the first time was actually almost a year ago as well. It was the day Wanderer's teaser was supposed to come out. The trailer and SP could be delayed between one and seven days, but it shouldn't influence the date of the update. It COULD though influence the date of Furina's teaser.

Huh, me, actually catching a premiere, that's weird. About as weird as Scaramouche pulling off his face like a mask and revealing he was actually Freddie Mercury all along. Genshin has some of the very best video game music I've ever heard. It's insane. Everything from the boss themes to the exploration music and the battle stuff; it's all so well done and beautifully crafted. They don't half ass the music in this game. This is one of my favorite songs in the game too! It was crazy fighting Scara the first time; my characters weren't particularly well built so I spent a lot of time fighting him for materials too, but the music was so epic that I didn't really mind and looked forward to hearing it again, haha. I don't know whether the strong likeness of his story and character to Bohemian Rhapsody was just a coincidence, or if it was intentional, but either way, they went absolutely ham with the references. And I'm loving it! I think 'Mercury' would have loved it, too, if he were still around 😉 There is one in his character teaser, his voice line about his least liked food... There is even a second reference in the song, according to Alex Moukala (music producer, also here on KZbin) the rhythm is basically a fandango.

The slow part at the beginning isn't exactly exploratory though it is in a place we haven't yet been but it very much acts as an introduction. At the time it's playing there's also a cutscene happening. There is another cutscene between the faster music (the stuff that sounds like it has a pretty heavy heartbeat (BUM-bum, BUM-bum) going) that cuts out and then rolls into the last phase. Hence the sharp change between the two phases. The organ stuff is reference to the Fatui theme, you will hear something similar in all the themes associated with the Fatui (though oddly, you also hear it happen in a lot of Fischl's music, it's led people to wonder if she has some heretofore undisclosed connection to them). But yeah, this boss theme is...boss. I had to draw out the fight a while just running around avoiding attacks so I could listen to it the first time I heard it, lol. I'm sure Freddie Mercury would approve. Probably. :)

I'd argue that if you're in a place you've never been, then it'd be considered exploratory. XD But I know what you mean. A heavy approach, the heartbeat! The transitions from one phase to the next with the references you've mentioned. It all works so well together. The soundtrack of this game is truly stunning. I really feel like this is one of the top tracks created by Yu Peng Chen for the game. I listened to it so many times and my favourite part is possibly still close to the start (around 2:30) where the ominous strings and the mechanical beat use different rythms. I feel like it really depicts how Scaramouche's human side (soul) and his monstrous mechanical body are fighting just like how he's torn in his story. Also how that's reflected in the lyics by most of the song being in Latin except the parts where the theme of Inazuma pops up and he sings by himself in Japanese about his past and heartbreak. Thank you so much for your reaction and reflection! I'm not sure Freddy Mercury thought about this particular Scaramouche but I'm sure he'd love this song in all it's complexity as well 😊

Many players who fought Scara the first time were really hyped while in battle because of this Boss Theme...still the best Boss Fight in Genshin along with Raiden's for now, & I'm hoping that Arlecchino Boss Fight also delivers the same hype.

when i first heard this theme in the game, for some reason i wasn't a big fan (could definitely be that i didn't hear all the moving parts and intricacies bc of my focus on the battle). but as i listened to it more and more and became more infatuated with scaramouche/wanderer as a character, the song speaks so differently. in the context of his story and knowing the lyrics, while still epic, holds a lot more sadness and pain than one might expect of a typical boss theme. like the part after the shakuhachi part, the way that the melody carries and how yu-peng chen sings it is so full of suffering and loneliness, it gives me chills every time. i gotta admit that i love me a broken and tortured character though lol. great video, i'm glad to see you react to it and feel the same awe i now feel about it! mercury :)

It's so Archon tier for real. Polumnia Omnia especially with the latin mixed with Japanese is basically a mixture of all of him. I won't get into too much detail of course as I do not wish to spoil you. Spoiling someone is like eating mercury. I don't know. Don't eat mercury. Anywho. I hope you listen to Childe's boss fight next; Wrath of Monoceros Caeli. I think that's just as great and it r eally speaks volume of Tartaglia's character as a whole. There are three phases in that fight as well. Anyways, this was a great video as always~

It's probably my favorite track in the entire game, I was already deeply invested in Raiden's story and Scaramouche's builds on top of it. Writers tackle subjects of loss, abandonment and betrayal with these two, and it's handled in a competent and mature manner, especially for this medium. This piece reflects Scaramouche's character beautifully, conveying both his hatred toward the world that scorned him and delicate soul desperate for acceptance, his story shows how pain could make someone resentful and detached. There's plenty I could say, but I think music speaks for itself

As someone who'll be playing the game, I think it's probably better if you hold off reacting to OSTs that you'll just encounter along in your in-game journey. The Fischl OST reaction from the last video was ok, since it was from a time-limited event that may never come back anymore.

This is my favorite boss theme in the game! It seems to be a lot of people's favorite or at least one of there favorites. I love scaramouche so much ❤. By the way, do you know who the artists of those pieces of fanart are? And mercury. Couldn't think of a clever way to work that in 😅.

I'm excited to see how I react to meeting the guy and working up to this point in the game. It's going to be fun! As for the art, I unfortunately don't know. I've looked up both official art and art for wallpapers BUT wasn't unable to narrow it down to specific people. Whoever they are, within HoYo or not, they are talented. (If I do discover the legit artists I'll be updating my description to credit them).

Honestly it's tough and maybe controversial but I think I much prefer raiden's theme but his is music peak perfection as well. But I guess Raiden being the most fun boss(at least to me) and Scara being one of if not the most boring eventually wins it for me, It just feels a tad bit too scripted and you don't have much freedom in it so it always goes the same way and you have to bring basically the same characters/team every time, and doing it weekly has been tedious to say the least, but yeah his music is fantastic and I'm glad you enjoy it and I REALLY want you to hear it once it's in the right context and when you know more about scaramouche/wanderer in the story, the first time fighting him my jaw was on the floor. It fits him perfectly I love the many different influences it has and how much it tells about him The only thing making me feel badly about it is it not being a one time thing... Mercury.

Somehow this song just does not click for me. For sure it is fantastic in its own right but nothing I can fancy. But I am glad that many people can enjoy this though. By the way: MERCURY is liquid at room temperature.
