Cbd oil has been absolutely amazing healer to our Rottweiler with her cruciate ligament injury. It’s been 4 years ago since it happened and she is fully healed and happy with no surgery made. My 100 lb girl had cruciate surgeries back to back on both back legs (TPLO) with an orthopaedic surgeon at a Veterinary College here in Canada at 5 years old…they were both successful (expensive yes, but considered the gold standard). It gave here almost 6 extra years of life and it was like she had bionic back legs afterwards….keep all your options open Colin. I so feel your pain buddy…..I couldn’t stop crying watching your video …cancer finally took her at just shy of 11 years old, I miss her every day….it is still pretty raw. Hugs to all of you while you deal with this.

Hi Colin I am sorry to hear about Kenai. I understand what you are going through. A few years ago I had to put Brandyn(boston terrier) down. He had an inoperable tumor in his heart. He was 9 years old. The most difficult thing any pet owner can go through is to say so long to a loved one. Be strong. You can get through this. I hope to hear better news at the end of this week!!!

Hi from FL, Sorry about Kenai.. I have Xena a big American Bulldog that blew her ACL a few years back. My Vet recommended another vet that specializes with acl joint damage. He implanted a plate on Xenas bad leg and she is doing great playing, running and jumping. It was expensive but well worth it. Stay positive and good luck with that beautiful Rotty. .

I've had 2 rotties go through this, both had surgery with success. My oldest rottie now is almost 10 with arthritis. CBD oil & acupuncture has done her wonders! Good luck!!

I'm seeing this video for the first time (rather late). For what it's worth, I had a Lab/ Coonhound mix who had the same problem. The Vet performed a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO). I had read that 30 to 50% of dogs will need the other leg done. Sure enough, one and a half years later she tore the other ligament. At the time of her first surgery she was 102 pounds. The surgeries served her well, however they are not cheap. I'll look for other updates on Kenai. Best of luck.

This is sooooo sad! It's heartbreaking for pet parents! My Cocker Spaniel is 13.... He had the same injury. It can heal in time... It took about 1 year...He reinjured it about 2 years later. I give him PetHonesty Hemp Mobility Senior. It's really helped him...I order it on Amazon. I give him 2 a day + 1/2 a doggy aspirin. He is also on Rimadyl.... I feel ya! Our old boy is 9 and has arthritis in his back leg and is on monthly steroid shots as when it is really bad he rabbit hops and doesn't put the leg on the ground. Some days he is worse than other days and on those days we just do not take him out too much and we make him mooch around home . He still loves life though and everyone who meets him loves him because he is adorable just like your beautiful Kenai. This is heartbreaking 💔🐾💔 went thru torn ACL with my Chow, replaced both rear joints which gave him about 6 good years ($5,000) when he was almost 10 they pretty much gave out n pain meds did very little. The WORST thing about being a pet owner is knowing WHEN you’ve done all you can but the time has come n you cross them over Rainbow Bridge. Prayers for Kenai 🙏🏼🙏🏼 n your family.

I’m so sorry 😢 it’s unfortunate that our fur babies have a limited time on earth. My Rotti tore her ACL when she was 8 months and after surgery she was fine, but not active as she was before. In her later years she had arthritis on one paw which was so hard to see her in pain, medicine didn’t seem to work but I found a vet that performed acupuncture which give her a few good years. My Golden Retriever who was a 75lb male who had the surgery. After the surgery and recovery you would never have known he was injured. The surgery was very expensive over $4000.00. I would get a second opinion.

Hi Collin, just saw the video,I hope Kenai is doing better. We have had Rotties for the past 16 years, and we've seen the whole range of hip dysplasia, osteoarthritis, torn cruciate ligaments,surgeries and xrays. My current Rotties are both 8,Tessa has blown the cruciates in both her knees, and my Ben has developed osteoarthritis in the elbow joints.So here is what we've done: We changed them to a raw diet, with buchu and devil's claw supplements (we're in South Africa - don't know if you can get it in America.) Tessa had TTA surgery in both her knees and an aquamid injection. The aquamid is fantastic, neither her or Ben has had really bad pain days. Tess has a lot of scar tissue in her left knee, so she gets regular acupuncture and physio. It's a lot of work and money, but it has made a hell of a difference in their lives. So don't lose hope, there is always something we can do.

I had a large pitty that had the same issue. I feed raw and started adding golden paste. It’s Tumeric, black pepper and olive oil. Then we had physical therapy. I swear it made a world of difference. We did ACL surgery on one leg and it was terrible. On her next tear I did the golden paste and physical therapy route. Seriously huge game changer. She recovered with better mobility in that leg. Don’t give up on him yet. You have options.

Colin and Sahm I saw your video and I know what your going through. I lost my Sasha to osteosarcoma 3 short months ago and my heart aches everyday for her so I know the thought of her being in pain was unbearable and giving her her wings was just as unbearable. I'm an Operating room nurse for 20 years with a specialty in orthopedic trauma and maybe you can get in touch with a sports medicine surgeon or total replacement surgeon and also a Bio engineer. You cant believe the special dial equipment they can make and do. Human or animal bone and muscle are the same and I can tell you I've seen some amazing splints and/or prosthetics they can make. I couldn't do anything for my girl but I hope they can help Kenai. It's worth a try. You guys will be in my prayers and the very best of luck.

She has never had the enwrgetic adventurous life we wanted for her.. but ahe is still so loved and perfect. Theres no love like that for or from a Rottweiler. I feel ya bud. I live on a cattle ranch and have had to deal with all sorts of animal and human injuries. I have found that a good horse linament with dmso seems to work best. Its not a natural product but it works to relieve pain. If ya have an older vet or know a large animal vet talk to them about how to make it.

This is a hard place My Rottie Missy Bella (7th rottie I had) had the same thing. Gave her lots of steak, salmon oil with her food. She was slow and we had to eventually put her down 7/1/20 at 13 years of age due to a massive seizure. They do get through it just have to give them love and time…💕🙏🏾 Thinking of you…rotties are our loves!!! Stay strong 💪🏽

I feel ya on this. My Madi would be in pain as it turned cold because of an injury she got trying to jump a fence which gave her arthritis due to how it healed. I would make sure she was only on it when necessary, gave her pain meds, and she would be still be here if not for stupid cancer. You, Sam, Kenai will get through it. I have experienced this twice with two of my males the one in the picture was Rocky at around five he blew his first ACL then at six and half he did the other one. Took him to Vets of America to a bone specialist, both surgeries went great and with Physical therapy he was fine, We did give him meds to keep arthritis in control. He passed at eleven years eleven months from tumors on his lungs. The other one was Teddy he experienced just about the same thing, surgery at five on one then about a year later the other one, unfortunately after both surgeries within six months he developed a large not on left front leg after tests it was determined he had bone cancer. Vet said we could amputate the leg and start chemo I did not want to put him thru that so I let him go home. The Rottweiler is the best dog in the whole world but with that a lot of unhappy ending’s.

My bouvier had torn cruciate and I opted to have a brace specially made for him in Toronto. He wore it for six months and it healed really well. My female had surgery on both legs and was somewhat crippled after that. The brace worked so much better for my boy who was able to run and play again.

The crucix surgery works. You just need to find a specialist. It saved our Rottweiler and gave him his life back pain free. The recovery is time consuming and the surgery is expensive but worth it for these amazing dogs and family members.

Colin it's gonna be ok. Kenai is going to be ok. Some of the Purina One has ingredients in it for joint health. It's just like us when we get older, joints hurt, arthritis sets in. You can probably give him Tylenol, not a hole one of course, ask the vet. As long as he has life in him, he can live. Yes, it's real hard as pet owners. Pray over your pets. Just like we pray over ourselves, our families, our situations. Well our pets/animals need our prayers as well.

Hey Colin, mate, it's always hard when our babies have something wrong especially when they're showing signs of being in pain, stay focused mate cause you need to be able to work through this no matter the outcome, on the positive there are some amazing people out there that do incredible work on dogs and to a degree pain can be managed, although we can't be there physically were behind you buddy.
