Now Andrias'... sharp turn in True Colors makes sense. Between a toad wielding Barrel's Warhammer, Grime, Sprig looking just like Leif, and there being a chase for the box while he's wielding his sword, it does make sense that he would snap at that moment. He does not seem as much of a two-dimensional villain anymore.

It was no wonder now why he went to such a mad rage that he actually Ran marcy through with his blade.He really seemed to care about marcy too. I think thats why he wanted too save her. I think the core wanting to hijack her body was something it wanted and he agreed to, Only to realize too late he messed up freaking royal.

I feel the fans who have dismissed much of season 3 as filler are the same kind who skip over much of season 1 for that same misguided reason. Amphibia was always much more about cumulative buildup than straightforward progression, and I don't know why people always seem to conveniently forget about that. Even season 2 was structured like 'a few eps on the road, then some eps in Newtopia, then some eps back in Wartwood intermixed with the occasional temple ep'.

@@CodaBlair I feel like it all boils down to everyone being too impatient with a story and its progression. They want to get right to the important stuff by skipping over the little moments that add more context to the story and its characters overall, and make it richer and fuller in the end. Nobody likes having to wait for anything; which I get, but at the same time hate. Lord knows I get impatient or antsy when I'm either watching or reading something, and then I gotta wait another week (or in some cases a month or two) to get the answers I want. And sometimes, the wait doesn't seem worth it when you get what you were waiting for, but it's not what you expected or wanted. And, to be fair, you're never going to be able to please everyone; that much is a given. It all boils down to how a story executes its ideas. Still though, I do think it's kinda bunk that there are people out there who dismiss any part of a story that seems superfluous to them as unimportant filler; especially since filler can add a great deal of development and context to a story and its characters. If you need proof, watch the D Gray Man anime and compare its story to the manga, which still isn't finished yet.

Since the core took on some of Marcy’s quirks but locked up her consciousness, imagine how hard it will be for Sasha and Anne to reach that part of her -especially if the memories of them are being chipped away. The final battle is going to be rough.

I just hate how little focus Darcy as a villian gets. We are already in the endgame and both Sasha and Anne have no idea what happened to Marcy while Darcy enjoys her muffins with Andrias. I hate it when our protagonist have no clue what they up against until the season finale. This is one problem I had with Ducktales Season 1 and 2 finales in the reboot.

I can see why Andreas blames Leif for everything that happened she basically ruined his life z and she basically condemned amphibia to a medieval existence for 1000 years ,when it was futuristic society that was probably a tough pill to swallow for Andreas especially since it was implied the Core and everyone blamed him for it ,yes amphibia was getting resources from conquered worlds ,but still that has to be major source of pain for Andreas knowing that Leif betrayed him and their whole society for something was very vague.

I have a theory that when they defeat Darcy, they think about bringing Marcy back using her journal but *THEN* ....they decide to leave her as she is so she doesn't remember being stabbed and doesn't miss them when she moves away. Leif stole the box to prevent what she saw from happening, but she inadvertently set it all in motion. The destruction of Amphibia, the flying castle, Andrias becoming a tyrant over his own people, and possibly the moon falling. Just as the prophecy says "should they fight or embrace the fall, their choice will determine the fate of all," she set in motion the Calamity Trio traveling to Amphibia to save it, but they can also be its downfall as we've seen from what's occurred since True Colors.

Yeah certainly wished Season 3 had put some more focus on Sasha and Marcy’s character arcs, and Darcy/ Dark Marcy is Painfully short on screen time but more importantly certain episodes should’ve been 22 minutes, especially Commander Anne, to fully explore the characters and emotional drama more.

At least with The Core and the King, we got to explore & learn more about Amphibia thousands of years ago, we got to see a young Andrias voiced be Zeno Robinson, that bull-horned Toad voiced by Jason Ritter, the ancestor of the Plantars, the painting, more Mossmen, Leif's dance that passed down to her descendants, King Eldrich & his line from the S.3 trailer, the Core with some missing eyes, seeing that invading other worlds is normal to Amphibians, Leif's visions, how Andrias Leviathan became the way he is, & the division of all Frogs, Toads, & Newts. Pretty much everything from the golden age of Amphibia!

Also, one of the show’s editors, Andrew Sorcini, clarified on Twitter that the intentional message was supposed to be "Optimization in Process" as shown in the English text on the screen but the Amphibian script wasn't changed to adjust to it.

That has me thinking a bit. It's possible that Andreas taught Marcy this secret letter technique as a means to give and send hidden messages for logical reasons however maybe something more to it in turn. This was something that was special shared and used only for Andreas and Lief and he now shared it with Marcy. Lief taught him and later he taught Marcy. The matter he recall in the end Lief's words that they can still use his powers for good while looking at the painting then at Marcy might mean something. That he shared a special technique with Marcy that was exclusive between him and Lief might be that he sees a similarity between Lief and Marcy (though he was her betrayer this time) but most importantly he might miss or regret losing genuinely his former friendships felt a positive growing freindship with Marcy. We see in this episode Andreas is a being under "Well done Son" desires and seeing the Core/His dad is part of his crown meant the Core also had his ear and puppeting him for 1000 years. Andreas flip the switch but the optimization looked like it was still in progress and was going to finalize as he flipped the switch. I wonder if he saved a part of Marcy when recalling Lief's words and that will be key to saving Marcy.

I noticed straight away that young Andrias was Zeno and I'm surprised you didn't draw more attention to the parallels there with him and Hunter. Maybe it's just a fun little easter egg or coincidence but I love the idea of exploring it more. Both in very similar positions at similar ages (at least maturity wise) and trying to live up to the expectations of a manipulative parental figure that only wants to use them for their bigger, multi-world related plans. It's pretty interesting to me lol

I liked the core and the king more than the root of evil because it flushed out king Andrias’s character and explains why he became the tyrant he is now, the real reason he was so mad at grime, the real reason he dropped Sprig from the window, and the real reason why he stabbed Marcy because it reminded him of his past and his greatest mistake (in his own mind and his fathers). It also gives more weight to what he said to Anne right before he dropped Sprig, “That’s the thing about friends isn’t it? The more you love them the more it’s hurts when they go.” because he cared about Leif and Barrel a lot and when Leif took the box and Barrel failed to stop her he saw as a betrayal of their friendship and we saw it hurt him so everything in true colors makes more sense now. I have to give credit to Matt he really has this show and everything else in it well paced and well planned also I like nothing is treated as filler and eventually comes back to play a role in an episode or the overall plot

He shows more and more concerns about his "destiny" since he sold Marcy to the Core. Andrias is not a bad guy he is just a misguided good guy. His father's philosophy, the constant manipulation from the Core and the betrayal of one of his best friends or maybe even love interest set him on a very dark path that turned him to the monster he's become.

I find two things about this really interesting. Firstly, I love that everything Amphibia is as of episode 1 can be marked to this event. The state of the entire world was changed because of what happened here. Andreas was so bitter about the situation that he let his world go to crap over this situation. Second, it's very likely that Andreas is mining Amphibia dry not just because he doesn't care about it anymore but because the sight of what it is now represents his past failures and he wants to put them behind him. It adds an extra layer to how villainous he really is that he destroyed everything he loved about Amphibia just to pack up and move on without needing to think about the past anymore. Considering he has lived for at least a thousand years, it speaks volumes that he wants to forget but can't. It doesn't help that the Core definitely will never allow him to forget or to forgive himself.

I kind of doubt they erased Marcy. The core is made up of several minds all that lived several hundred years and a good chunk of that was overlapping via father and son, so potentially a redundant memory would be an event where more then one mind was present things like that. Also possible that the previous king is asserting control given the ending…

I like how Spring’s penchant for rhythm and rhythmic movement (like the cheek slapping) as well as deceit connect him to Leif. While the rhythm thing has been a part of Sprig’s mannerisms from the very beginning, it was highlighted in The Mother of Olms with the gong slapping and spreading of the brain balm which made me think it would be an important detail going forward- so I’m glad I turned out to be right!

I saw a theory on Tumblr that said that Darcy's subtle switches in demeanor was different ancestors talking through her. Such as a scientist during some of the more expositive scenes, and an aristocrat for when she talks more formally. I absolutely buy into this theory, as it makes sense, and it's pretty much confirmed at the end, where Aldrich says "Wow son, I'm almost proud of you" through her.

5:26 No. You’re mixing up the concepts of “hive mind” and “mind hive”. Hint: “hive mind” is one mind many bodies, while “mind hive” is one body many minds. They are opposite each other. Apothecary Gary and the spores used by Andreas and the Core’s army created hive minds, but the Core itself is the opposite: a mind hive. It appears that lazy use of the term “hive mind” due to “mind hive” being less familiar to the viewer ended up resulting in conflation of the concepts. Also, I doubt Marcy’s memories were deleted. Marcy’s memories are encoded in her brain while the Core’s memories are likely to be more like computer files.

I personally don't think Marcy's memories were erased or deleted/cleared. Marcy's memories and mind are stored in her physical brain, but the core stores its mind through advanced technology. The core is an artificial conscience, while Marcy is a natural one. Since you can't really delete something that hasn't been uploaded onto some device, in this case, the core, Marcy is probably still there in her subconscious. The core is only occupying Marcy's mind, not merging with it. The core has essentially pushed Marcy into a subconscious state while it takes the reins, acting as the consciousness for Marcy's body.

And that the gems they're colored after ties them/the human characters they're associated with to the conflicts and struggles they face? (Like how Leif had to be strong to take the box, Barrel didn't stop her after she pleaded (which to the audience was the smart move) and Andrias' conflict was with hus friends...namely losing everything he was taught was important because he trusted them.)

Theory - The vision leaf sees in the future thanks to the music box all seems to be at our present. It wouldn’t make sense for leaf to see the future that’s a few years later but be able to stop it from happening since that would mean she wouldn’t see that future so it seems like the moon is gonna HIT amphibia in the final episode which could be an ending in a possible destruction of amphibia where they must make their way to earth guided by Ann and join humans?

1- That's an odd thought- 2- seeing how the core has gained all of Marcy's memories it probably knows what a cycle is so king what's his name would have no reason to tell them 3- Marcys only 13, so she probably hasn't started a cycle yet anyway. 4- if Marcy does infact have a cycle, due to stress she probably would miss it.

I think by redundant memories it was memories the Core already knew, like about the box and some stuff related to Amphibia it was already aware of. And also it's clear Marcy's presence is much stronger than the Core is saying, even after optimization going by how they said 'Gold Star for you' that sounds like something Marcy would say.

I was freaking out about midsommer the entire time the episode was playing and have been waiting for someone to mention it!!! especially when the flower is crushed and everyone gathers around sobbing I was just screaming at my family that amphibia did A Thing but seriously I kept expecting the background to wave around. Personally, I wonder if the Core was purging it's own memories that it considered redundant. Come on, we've all seen or heard things that we wish we could forget, or could live a happy life not knowing. Maybe it was purging those memories that it deemed redundant. If it wants to keep Marcy from resurfacing or taking control, then it needs to keep trapping/tricking her. What better way than using her own memories against her? Also, I have a feeling the Core chose right before the invasion because it couldn't purge the memories while it was in that giant octo-bot.

The funny thing about the prophecy her taking it set in motion. Him becoming a a tyrant, the castle that's going to be destroyed and the moon that's going to fall on their planet. Also seeing Sonic and Tails as little Easter eggs have me believe in that the Moon is the like the Death Egg and the Calamity powers are going to call it towards it.

Edit: I didn't even think about this before but it would show how far sprig had come. I have the same feeling as everyone else that the Core and the King should've gotten more run time but it was great episode nonetheless!We saw Andrais past,futuristic Amphibian society,Leaf's betrayal destroying their friendship and the fact that she stole the box pretty much doomed Amphibia in the first place by setting in motion the prophecy itself
