Many years ago I saw the Queen cycling along a street in Copenhagen. Everyone cheered and waved. She had one hand on the handle bars and the other was held high waving to everyone, a huge smile. Sadly all come to an end. I remember her at 31 when she was proclamed queen and it was also sad to me not see anymore her father King Frederik IX. And I am not danish too. It sadly gives me the feeling that we become older and older .

On January 14th the Proclamation of King Frederik X of Denmark. On January 27th the Saint Dévote celebrations will take place in Monaco, and on January 31st the inauguration of the new King of Malaysia.

The queen will still be her majesty queen Margrethe. In a way the crownprins has been a kind of a prinsregent the last couple of years, because he has done a lot of the work. But is it fair to continue with one person doing the job and another getting the glory for it? I don't know.

Walk back. 🙂 The original press release from yesterday clearly stated that Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, The Crown Prince Couple of Denmark and His Royal Highness Prince Christian of Denmark would attend the Council of State Meeting. The Queen would sign the Declaration of Abdication, the Council of State would approve, The Crown Prince would then become King, The Crown Princess would then become Queen and The Prince would become Crown Prince of Denmark. Then they would all go home. That was it. This morning the scheduled event changed.

The Danish Royal Court communications department seems to be overwhelmed at the moment, which is incredibly rare. The DRC has always been on top of things, one of the best alongside the Palais Princier de Monaco (who are easy to work with); however, these past few days it's clear the DRC needs to step up a bit. 🙂
