Just what I was looking for to augment my ability to tackle the vert on a couple trail races this fall. Thanks :) And as for the rows, if you can tie a couple bowlines I guess a length of 1" or thicker rope would do just as well.

Hey coach Morgan, if you really want to get the most out of your step ups, at the top of the movement, drive your back leg up to work the hip flexor and on the "touch and go" movement, try keeping your back foot flexed and touching the heel to the ground before going back up. Greater depth and stretch on the working leg.

you'll want it around the height you can lift your foot up to, just to start, then work your way up to make it harder

The exercise as demonstrated is quite hard. A ‘beginner version’ would be helpful. Also make sure the chair (or other surface) really is stable

Lean into it, braking while running downhill usually hurts the lower back and hamstrings.
