Bought these for my first marathon, greatest decision for someone looking to just complete and not stop running like me. My recovery time after the race was better than my other shoes too especially since my daily runner were stability shoes.

Great review Nick. I've finally bitten the bullet and bought a pair in a newly released colourway. First impressions - bounce bounce bounce, like the Prime x Strung with more stability.

Picked up a pair as a race option and I am so glad I did. Ordered the SC Elite v4 originally since it came in a wide and they were terrible unless I was going all out. The Cielo lets me do all paces and honestly would just be a great do it everything shoe if it wasn't so pricey.

So pleased this was a positive review. I got mine by default after I missed out on a release of Alpha Fly 3. Ran London in the Cielo and achieved a PB (3:01) bit of a bitter sweet moment as smashed my previous best but wanted a sub 3. (I’m 52) it was my quads not the shoes that cost me - they were comfortable and bouncy to the end and no issues with the laces😅. Whether a lighter pair of racers would have made the difference who knows. But I really like them.

Would love to try it but cost too expensive to just try it when I have adios pro 3 that works so well for this purpose and have gotten on sale … Maybe I will figure out way to get on sale eventually for under 200 and definitely appreciate the review!
@grantmckay70147 ай бұрын
Agreed. Picked up Adios Pro 3 on 40% sale and it has become a great long run and/or session shoe. Hard to go past it when on sale at that price. Helps save the less durable Vaporfly 3s for race day.

I’m running the Big Bear marathon next month which is a very net downhill marathon. My normal racing shoe is the ASICS Metaspeed Sky Paris but the sole of my first pair got shredded during a fast 10K downhill training run (along with the skin on the bottom of my heels). My initial thoughts are that it sounds like the Cielo X1 is the most durable carbon plate racing shoe, provides a good foot lockdown and protection, and weight makes less of an impact moving downhill than flat or uphill. I think it might be the better option for a downhill marathon in particular where you need added comfort and durability and weight becomes less of a factor. Would you agree or would you recommend a different shoe?
@michaelgriffiths3057 ай бұрын
One that is better for bigger runners, maybe as requires greater force to get the bounce back. Durable too.
@michaelgriffiths3057 ай бұрын
In Nicks view Only the ASICS MSP, the two Nike trainers beat it outright. The Adidas Pro 3 and the Saucony Elite are faster but not as fun…. Fair play Hoka.
@kaprikornian17 ай бұрын
Nick, as a heel striker myself, wouldn't the Edge Paris be a better option than the Sky Paris? And is the fit in the NB Elite v4 as wide as the Rebel? I like my Rebels but they are a bit wide for my narrow feet. But overall you did bring up my curiosity about the Cielo X1, if I find a nice discount I might just try it out! Although as a (very) mild supinator, that lack of support on the outside makes me wonder if it will have any effect on my ride...
@davidosolo2 ай бұрын
The difference between the Edge and the Sky got to do with increasing cadence vs increasing stride length at faster speeds (not so much with heel striking vs forefoot striking)? In theory you are right about the cut in the sole not being the best thing for supinators. But on the other hand, the bounce that this shoe gives would be very positive for a supinator, I think.

Hi Nick, mega good video. Thank you! I've had the rocket x2 for a long time and also have the feeling that the bouncing is slowing down. Was that your impression too, did I get that right? I would have been interested in your opinion of the forefoot feel of the Adios Pro 3 rods v. the Hoka plate. Does Adidas have a valid point of their rods resembling the metatarsals in your foot approach offering greater midsole/forefoot torsion/flex?

I'm thinking about buying this shoe but, if I just do regular jogging 5 to 6 times a week 6 mlesi a day would this be a good shoe for what I'm looking for? I love how the shoe fits and fills but I don't want to ruin it by running in it too much
@andreasschwarz490810 күн бұрын
I don't see why not. It can go longer distances than that but it's not a mistake to use it for that. The bigger problem would be the opposite, if you had a shoe meant for shorter distance and you were trying to run long distances.

I really like this shoe. The one thing keeping me from flat out loving it (besides the price) is that the fit is good for me through the heel and midfoot, but the forefoot/toe box feels like a balloon--not so much in width, but in the amount of material spanning that width, if that makes sense? I have a normal to narrower foot and that just makes it harder for me to achieve a lockdown which makes me capable of forefoot striking in the shoe with the precision that I'd like, the forefoot feels too squirrelly. That is partly on me so maybe I can improve mechanics with its help. Excited to see what happens with V2 of this shoe, hopefully they can bring the price down a little as well? Really bonkers suggested asking price in the US for this one.
