Batman R.I.P. is one of my favorite Batman stories. I must say that aside from a few minor criticisms, that you did a wonderful job. i really love how you also included Batman issue #701 after R.I.P. concluded. for anyone confused on the plot, way before the events of Batman R.I.P. even begin.... Back when Dick Grayson was still Robin, Batman had taken part in a Government isolation experiment. Batman's plan was to simulate insanity, so that he could to try to better understand the mind of the Joker. Dr Simon Hurt was in charge of the experiment. Hurt also had 3 police officer recruits training to become Batman so that they could take over in case the real Batman ever died. The experiment was a failure, and all 3 officers went insane. Batman himself was having blackouts after the experiments. We later found out that while Batman was under hypnosis, that Dr Hurt had planted a hypnotic trigger in Batman’s mind, so that he could shut off Bruce from being Batman any time that he wanted. Flash forward years later when Tim Drake is Robin, Bruce travels to Nanda Parbat to undergo the Thogal Ritual. While performing Thogal, Bruce begins having visions. He starts sensing something’s wrong in the back of his mind, but isn’t exactly aware of the hypnotic trigger. Bruce then creates a back-up personality like a trauma victim would, in case his mind ever comes under attack. (The Batman of Zur-En-Arrh) Grant Morrison’s Batman run begins with issue #655. One of the three Police officers that went insane training to become Batman, shoots the Joker in the face. Joker ends up in rehab, and believes that it was actually Batman that shot him in the face. Talia Al Ghul surprises Batman with their illegitimate child that she had in secret. Bruce Wayne meets Jezebel Jet in Batman issue #656. The two start seeing each other more in issue #664. Jezebel discovers that Bruce is Batman in issue #675. Now with all the pieces in place, Dr Simon Hurt has returned to Gotham to make his move against Batman.

@@myconiusmaximus1022 hi I am curious I have the Batman and Son TPB from 2009 that collects Batman #655-#663 loved Andy Kubert on art just curious what is the ultimate story of #663 ? The most I got out of it was that joker every few years reinvents himself to keep batman on his toes and Joker is trying to kill his henchmen and underbosses including Harley to sever all ties to his past life ? Am I pretty accurate?

@@Moth_Dust Conroy only sounded like Batman during the animated series. After that every time you hear Batman speak you think “Kevin Conroy” not “Bruce Wayne/Batman.” It takes away from the character. This voice actor plays it waaaaay better and is much more believable.
@TheFounderUtopia8 ай бұрын
@@neurohack9038 That seems to be a common problem with great voice actors who have breakout performances. Like David Hayter, in the first Metal Gear Solid his performance was amazing, but every game he did since then he sounds like he's trying to do an exaggerated imitation of his previous role. They get insecure, I think, and try to so perfectly recapture their break out performance that they end up just doing a bad impression of themselves. Conroy was always amazing, but I agree that his later performances as Batman lost some of the subtle nuances of his original Batman TAS role. Where he used to have very different voices for Bruce and Batman (a dynamic he actually pioneered and has been copied ever since) eventually they all just started to sound the same. But even at his worst, Conroy was an absolute legend.
