20% of UK housing is privately rented, it was 12% in 2001. There are now 3 million more renters than 20 years ago. In 1900, 90% of all uk housing was privately rented. Rental demand will increase as less people can buy. Home ownership was 72.5% in 2001, it is 62% today, UK now the bottom quartile in Europe for home ownership. Landlord tax's, rent reforms and EPC will be among the problems.

Any private landlord and their agent who can withstand the flack will be quids in but for some tenants I can forsee the Rackham style landlord returning when it comes to moving tenants on and the Police won't be interested because its a civil matter so think on renters be careful what you wish for!

rant, landlords should get a job instead of parasite tenants which paid the landlord initial investment in the first two years, tenants pay the bank mortgage, property tax, plus profit for the landlord which usually is almost a living wage so the landlord either can live without work or rent a rent a place for himself without having to work, its seems who is the real property investor are tenants since its them who pay everything, climbing the property ladder is being a parasite, thus all the social housing programs to fit landlords parasitism

Amen. Landlords have formed cartels. Watching this guy whine about large corporations getting in on the game just makes me laugh. He's just upset there's real competition now. They need to eliminate many of the tax breaks for these guys. They corner the little available supply of housing, do very little labor themselves, and then charge premiums for rent. Not a great thing for society.
