Tried every reel and rod combo there is to try from Bull bay to crowder to penn to Dark Matter to UglyStiks. To Penns to Shimanos to Daiwas to Van Staals. You name it, I’ve tried it. Still haven’t found a better, more budget friendly inshore combo than a Shimano Stradic 3000. Paired on a 7’ Ninja Tackle Dagger “do it all” inshore Rod. Really does do it all. Best Rod/reel combo I’ve ever set up.

We say can't go wrong with a stradic to someone at least once a day. They really are an amazing reel for the price.

@jacobmcvay123 how does that dagger rod handle light tackle offshore fishing? Would it be a good crossover rod?

Interesting how Shimano took the first and second choice of the presenter. Shimano makes incredible spinning reels all through their line-up.

Penn slammer 4500 for me. Had a few ultegras and a stradic and after fishing them along side slammer 3s and 4s, 3500-5500 and repairing/servicing both myself...I'll stick with the Penns.

Awesome video, ok I’d love to see more salt water geared reel reviews (inshore) that be great. However I’ve worn out 2 mq ballistics (no fault of the reels) but replacing every 2 ish yrs for being just plane shot. I’m looking at steeping to that next teir but between 300-850$ ISH it gets very muddy. Video or maybe pointer at what you recommend? For reference my Mq ballistics are 2500 w/10-12 braid and 10 leader and soft plastics only. Reds/snook. I like a semi finesse style/setups. Physical size matters to me

@@SaltwaterEdge that’s what I keep coming back to BUT I know the visser is an “improved” company if you will (only what I’ve read in articles) I’ve seen various concerns with the handles in various models. Should this be a concern to look at visser more ? Or just give both fair shake?
@SaltwaterEdge
@SaltwaterEdge 7 ай бұрын
Visser looks like a very nice reel, we have looked at them but haven't fished them or serviced them yet. I'm not sure if I would call it improved, but it is a different company with some different ideas about reel design. As a VS service center I can confidently say the Gen 2 VR series are incredibly reliable. I use a VR50 for the majority of my inshore fishing, its been dunked, splashed, taken big fish and still feels/works great.

I’m curious if and how the Spheros would hold up any better than the Nasci in saltwater since they both have core protect. 🤔
@SaltwaterEdge

I'm not sure if the Nasci has core protect, but the spheros has x shield and x protect which makes it great for saltwater
@WhereWeWild
@WhereWeWild 3 ай бұрын
@@SaltwaterEdge Yeah the big boy size Spheros SW A reels use X Protect, but I’m actually interested in the smaller 3000-4000 size which I should have mentioned, and they use CoreProtect. The Nasci FC actually also does have CoreProtect so it’s interesting. 🤔😁 Haha I’ve been on the fence wondering if I should get a Spheros, or if the Nasci with pretty much all the same specs and tech, which is cheaper, lighter, and has 2 more bearings than the Spheros, would be just as good if not better for a lightweight salt combo. Only advantage I can find for the Spheros 3000-4000, is that even though it has less bearings, they are double sided sealed bearings. Not sure if that would make a big enough difference to matter especially since I could upgrade bearings at any time. Maybe I should just try both and see which one quits first. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂🤙🏽

Why is it that none of these reels have an anti-reverse switch? I use that anti-reverse switch a dozen or more times every outing to adjust the length of my line for casting or for tying on new lures. Just loosening up the bail all the time is a pain and, what about when you forget to re-tighten it and have a big fish on?
@SaltwaterEdge
@SaltwaterEdge 28 күн бұрын
You won't see that switch on a lot of reels above a certain cost and use. It can create a weak point that sometimes leads to the antireverse mechanism's failure. The last thing you want is to have that switch fail when you have a fish on and not be able to engage drag.

As long as you rinse it down with fresh water if it gets exposed to saltwater you’ll be fine. We see plenty of these reels go for years of use in the salt with minimal maintenance

The 3000 is a very lightweight reel so I would stick with a 7'-7'6" rod. It depends on the materials used in the rod's construction.

Shimano ain't the same like back In the day it's all made in China only their high end reels are made in Japan. I have all of those reels and okumas still shits on all of them.
