Its the returns that'll get you. The drain doesn't drain, pools ate pumped out not drained, the drain is more a pressure valve. When you remove the weight of the water, the pool can "jump" as in destroy itself, because of rise and lack of support. Even with a main drain, sometimes you have drill some relief holes to reduce the upward pressure. There are a lot of ways of pool injury....the drain is the safest part! Hope it helps, I used acid wash neglected pools, only had one pool pop.

@@garyjohnson1970 My hand almost got sucked into a drain pipe at camp pool. It led down to a low area in the woods. I found out the hard way what that metal pipe at the bottom of the deep end was for. I saw a pool get get ruined by draining, yes. Floated up, so they just filled it in with dirt and hauled off the deck concrete.

Why isn’t there some sort of emergency burst disk that it will allow water to flood the helmet? Wouldn’t it be better to let the helmet flood and then you could remove it once it reaches ambient pressure and switch to an alternate air source? Obviously there’s a reason why it’s not done like this but as a recreational diver I’m confused.

I have my scuba license been trying to find the right school I live in Dallas Texas and I want to do offshore diving since that will give me the most work. Was the school hard? And what school did you attend to?
@TheSaltyDiver
@TheSaltyDiver 6 жыл бұрын
Honestly man, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but offshore diving will not give you the most consistent work. Go check out comments on my videos about dive schools from guys who have been chewed up and spit out by the industry. The only way to be a diver and have guaranteed work is to join either the Navy or Army and become a military diver (Navy Diver, or 21D). That school would be hard. Almost all civilian schools are basically just farms to push out new divers and make money. I went to Divers Academy International and it is currently my lowest rated dive school in the USA. Highest rated is Santa Barbara Community College. Even as an out of state student, you would still pay less. (Which is all that ends up really mattering).

There is a water dump valve in the bottom of the helmet below your chin. Tilt your head forward and breathe out, the water will pass out the one-way valve. Is it a Superlite 17 or 27?

Anthony Meyers I had a discussion about this with a retired master diver recently. Diving is in and of itself technically a trade, but the work you do underwater is not. Anything you need to know about diving you will get at dive school, and depending on what specific job you're doing underwater your company should have a training pipeline in place. If they aren't willing to take the time to teach you, I would look for another company. Good luck!

Anthony Meyers You can start taking Welding Classes now, Get Certified! Get as MANY welding qualifications as you can! Stick, Mig, Tig, Brazing, Vertical, Overhead etc. The most important Cert's you can get is ALL your PIPE welding Cert's!!! THAT IS HUGE! And if you can get ANY welding work that would be a HUGE plus in Your favor After you Graduate Dive School!!! You will also need to Know how to Swim! You can also get SCUBA certified as well! You need that before you start the Diving portion of Dive School! Aaallllssoo, Get in shape! Run a couple Miles a day a couple times a week, at least and Start a Weight Lifting/ Fitness Routine! i.e. Push ups Sit ups, Swimming and Running etcetera! Good Luck Bro! I've been a Commercial Diver since '96 and Absolutely Love it! Can't THINK of anything else I'd want to do! And Hav'nt! 😆 👌👌👌

The worst part? Shit. Getting lied to. They hype you up with all this crap and bullshit. "you need this cert, on sale for 5000. TODAY!" If it gets you an adci card, that s all that matters.

where and when did you get the dive hat? How mutch do those things cost?
@TheSaltyDiver
@TheSaltyDiver 6 жыл бұрын
The company owns the hat. Its policy that if we dive the hat that day then we have to clean them in our hotel room that night. From what I understand that is pretty standard. This is an SL-17K which (correct me if im wrong vets) is basically just a 17 converted to a 37. American diving supply has SL-37s up right now for $7,183.00. In my opinion the 37 is kind of the standard right now, but I think a lot of guys are going to start shifting to the 97 which is posted up right now for $8697.00. www.americandivingsupply.com/Commercial-Diving-Helmets-s/58.htm (probably wont be able to see the price)

Im a high school student. and i have always wanted to be a commercial diver, i was looking at Minnesota Commercial diving, because its in my state, but on the website it talks about some company's dont provide helmets for the divers, and it talks about a commercial diver should own one. but my question is is it worth it? and id becoming a commercial diver worth it? can some one do the job for 15+ years? And whats the hardest struggle? and one last question is it worth it owning all the diving gear? i own scuba gear, but commercial diving gear is very expansive.
@TheSaltyDiver
@TheSaltyDiver 6 жыл бұрын
Owning your own equipment varies quite a bit depending on what kind of diving you are getting into and the company you go to. For instance, I do a lot of scuba diving and have all of my own scuba gear including a full face mask. When we dive a helmet they are provided by the company. A lot of offshore and construction companies will require you to get your own hat and maintain it. I have taken the maintenance course, its $600, and you have to renew it every 3 years. In this job market you will honestly fair much better with just about any other trade. The school will cost a fraction of the price, your starting pay will be higher, and you wont risk your life doing stuff. The biggest struggle I hear about is maintaining constant employment.
