One day, an old dog went walking in a field, and out of the corner of his eye he saw a lion coming up behind him. As the old dog turned his back to run he noticed some old bones on the ground and stopped. As the lion came close enough, the old dog said, "that was a tasty lion." The lion hearing this became fearful, turned and ran. Meanwhile, a squirrel was up a tree and saw the whole thing. The squirrel came down from the tree and ran to tell the lion what he saw. This made the lion mad to think he was fooled by that old dog. The lion told the squirrel to get on his back, saying, "we'll go fix that old dog." As they approached, the old dog spotted the lion and squirrel. The old dog turned his back again and said, "where is that squirrel? I sent him a half hour ago to bring back another lion."

My father was born on PEI in 1920. He told a story of after a snowstorm, tobogganning from the roof-peak of his home towards Brighton Road in Charlottetown. Snow is not new to PEI.
@MaxDolittle3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Definitely not new....my mother said that they had to get out of house from 2nd floor window back in 20's 30's time frame because snow blocked in doors and windows on first floor. I wonder with climate change if we will get more heavy snow falls?

Crazy thing about the 2014-15 winter: we had a green Christmas and virtually no snow till late January. After that, we had approx. 500 cm, the worst winter since 1972. 80 plus cm on Valentines Sunday caused the Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island to be closed; the last person to make it over slept on the floor of the nearest Tim Horton's coffee shop.

Everyone in the comment section saying things like "just use better equipment" or "should have started the night before" have no idea and weren't here for that storm. The snow was that high on the highways - we had around 600 cm's of snow dropped on us in a few months. Get a cm in the States and the whole country goes into a state of emergency.

I don't remember the reason why exactly but there was an occasion one winter day when a horse hauling a sleigh wouldn't cross a frozen river. To get the horse "motivated" the horseman gave the horse a drink of whiskey or rum or maybe moonshine and the horse crossed the river in record time.

You honestly kinda have to execute it like that sometimes on the east coast though, the snow gets ridiculously heavy with all the moisture in the air, which also causes it to pack down very quickly once it sits. Several individual winters I've had to replace the auger belt on my snowblower 3 or 4 times because they wear out so fast from the weight of the snow. Blizzards are no joke in the east.
