Cool video! I used to build in the 60's and early 70's. I recently came back to the hobby in the last few years. Your videos are a great source of information and inspiration. I done a couple of dozen builds so far and use those clear plastic boxes for display. I have installed some shelves but will soon run out of room. It's good to see how you display your models and options you have tried. I like the custom shelf solution and will check them out. Cheers!

It is a crime that IKEA stopped making the Bertby. It's the best model display cabinet of all time.

Ive got billy book cases with glass shelves and doors for my 1:43/1:18, your right though its very expensive, but I've had them for nearly 7+ years, i painted the back board cream to set the cars off, i use a soft paint brush to dust mine

I found Cake Containers at an 1€-Shop that fit four cars. All my cars are perfectly preserved and I can neatly stack the Containers into my Side Boards. They are hidden but for what I have in Mind, I'd need a serious amount of Real Estate!

I'm genuinely curious (maybe I could challenge my perspective): How did you come to the conclusion that 1/24 model kits were worth collecting though they have close to no resale value and are not remotely close to what a 1/18 scale diecast metal model feels like? Is it that there is more models to chose from? Is it that 1/18 scale diecast are sometimes hard to undo for customization? Is it that personnal satisfaction is much greater with collecting model kits built ''from scratch''? Or else? I mean, you have some serious skills, but how do you view keeping all these plastic models now? (I began at 9 or 10, with aircraft plastic models too :) )
@TheScalemodelingChannel Жыл бұрын
For me its simple. 1/24 is the standard scale for model kits in my country. I wanted to build models. Not just collect finished models. Plus, 1:18 diecast models need stripping etc before the modifications start. Thats a lot of work(that can damage parts, since they are not realy meant to be taken apart) before i can start doing the things i like doing. With kits i can pretty much start the build. And not have to tear it down. Also 1:18 is bigger, heavier and takes up even more space.

@@TheScalemodelingChannel Thanks for you feedback, I get it more now. It is more about the build, than it is about the showcasing of such models :)

@@TheScalemodelingChannel I sometimes sell 'as is' dust and all, you'll be surprised how many people buy these to strip and rebuild, I know you lose money, but at least you've had the enjoyment of building them...
