The new schmoedown on collider is more professional, but it lacks the energy and hype of the live show ones. I miss when they did it during the show. But at the same time now we get one every week instead of just in a certain part of the year.

The Turning Point was a movie in the ...mid-seventies? Shirley MacLaine and Anne Bancroft. Two former ballerinas - now much older - confront each other again after a number of years. One made the choice to stay a ballerina and found great fame, the other left the biz for having a family. Now the mom-ballerinas daughter is poised to be the rising star who will knock the crown off the older ballerina who stayed in the job. I believe it was Mikhail Baryshnikov (then of the Moscow Ballet - later of Sex in the City) acting debut. The film was pretty decent and caused a rush of interest in the ballet at the time.
