The Stockholm Major final was a clash of CS:GO's titans. S1mple versus NiKo.
Na`vi destroyed every team on their way to the grand finals without dropping a single map. S1mple led the charge; the greatest CS:GO player of all time knew this was his major to win, and he looked unstoppable.
But on the other side of the bracket, G2 Esports' NiKo was terrorizing teams.
When the two met in the grand finals, everyone predicted a swift 2-0 victory of s1mple. Despite losing Map 1, G2 rallied on Nuke, taking it to map point. Up 15-12, with s1mple in his crosshairs, it looked like NiKo could be the first player all tournament to make s1mple look mortal.
He pulled the trigger and the shots went wide.
This is the most tragic whiff in CS:GO history. The shot that almost made s1mple bleed. The shot that almost gave us a full three-map series in a grand finals that was supposed to be a rout.

Don't forget that s1mple hit an absolute banger when Niko missed. If he'd been slower to react, Niko was retreating after his miss and would make the bomb defusal difficult

Honestly, the whole Major was redemptive for Niko to me, he kinda blew it on the Faze superteam in Boston a major by all accounts he should have won, but here he carried a team with no right being there to potentially winning the upset of a major final hell if he'd won or if S1mple wasn't on the other team he'd be considered the MVP it was for the whole tournament a great performance.
