Btw Old man's beard is actually a wild clematis. The moss on that silver birch is a form of lichen. Such a good sign as it shows how pure your air is there 😊 beautiful thank you stunning vlog as usual

Hello from the south of the South Island New Zealand. Every time I watch you two going about your daily life on the island ,I am reminded of such similar activities over the years in my life..I too had a Granny who carried rolls of notes in her handbag. I must say that The Scottish Isle is perfect in every way.Such exquisite scenery, perfectly atmospheric harp music ,and your banter has me chuckling. I really appreciate all your hard work Scott and Katie ,thankyou.

That was one of your best episodes yet, the shot with your cat following you was priceless. The woods are amazing, the old pollarded oak and the lichen are just magical. Thank you.

Really enjoyed this video guys. I'm definitely with you on the brown wood, wouldn't have anything else. Scott you tell a great story and your great grandmother reminded me of my gran who kept all her money at home and wouldn't spend a penny of it!! You are truly living a unique lifestyle on your magical isle .. and yes it is absolutely magical and a pleasure to follow your adventures. So, thanks so much Katie and Scott for sharing.

Love the old stories about your family. Historical family heritage fascinates me. Sounds like your Great Grandmother was a typical Victorian. Children should be seen and not heard. My Grandfather worked the coal mines near Cumbuslang as a child. .. 9years of age. The story goes that he worked in the mine from 6 am until around mid afternoon and then had two hours of schooling. Such a sad childhood.

As a kid growing up in a old Georgian terraced house in London, we used to have to bring in a large tin bath in front of the kitchen fire once a week for a bath. The youngest would have a bath first then each child one after another by age, the hot water was topped up in between children then the parents had their bath. We had two large wooden clothes horses draped with blankets for privicy. Then it had to be emptied with buckets into the garden and finally hung up outside the back door until the following week. Everyone did the same back then so it wasn't a problem. 💕🇦🇺

Back in the 90’s I was one of the official Robin Hood characters in Sherwood Forest visitor’s centre. Every weekend would find me annoying visitors in the forest.

The lichen can be used as a dye if you want orange as a colour. I remember my Mum boiling it up & us kids having to endure wearing orange cloths for 1 summer.
