I moved 30 boxes of books and 20 bags of clothing, until I realized it was not worth the pain, the money and the time. I had moved a lot, like 10 times. Now I am 70 and I still like to read but I get my books from the library. I don't have a lot of clothing just enough to get by, as in a few pairs of pants, some tops and summer dresses. Underwear that fits in 2 small drawers. A couple of winter coats and hats. You realize after a while what you need, not what you want. I gave everything I didn't need to charity. It is a relief because now I can move in one small truck load. A van even. We are too attached to things and not attached enough to our loved ones. I pray for your safety and recovery.

I was the same. Boxes and boxes of books and moving every few years. Then about 15 years ago I slowly started moving my 'keepers' over to an ereader. Now I have a box of dead tree books I keep for the sentimentallies and over 5000 on my ereader. I can pop my whole library into my handbag and enlarge the print as my eyes get older 😂

We come into the world with nothing then we go through it wanting bigger and better and more stuff .it's not until you gey old or lose a loved one you realise that you didn't need all the stuff you hung onto the most important thing is that you remain fit and healthy and you spend quality time with your loved ones because one day your find its only you and the four walls you end up talking to if your a Christian it's your faith that keeps you saine and keeps you going last year my own wife passed away due to illness but you still have to move forward my toughts and prays go out to this lovely couple because watching there journey has helped me in my own life .its for the living there next chapter will be just as much fun and hopefully less stressful for them both

It is so hard for me to throw out books. I had to resort to checking the second hand price and convincing myself that I could buy a replacement for pennies. I think it comes down to being instructed to take care of books and not to damage them.

I shall never get that streamlined but I am majorly downsizing. I can part with a lot of books but finding them a new home is a challenge these days, always more books than lovers of books. Then my ephemera is hopeless. Given away tons of china but doesn’t make a dent, same with clothing. I think it grows back. I will make a change …not impossible…. my better self has had me leave things in the rain to make parting easier. I have even given a facelift to furniture rejected first time around by charity shop with great success.

Those do. All that bouncing will allow the lock washer to slip. Depending on how tight it was put on. Also looks like they couldn't het it tight. It may need a few more washers so it can be tightened properly. I've had to walk back on trailer looking for the nut and lock washer myself when towing with the quad, been lucky and have been able to find them.

Make sure that nothing damp goes into storage. We thought we had made sure when we packed a container but when the container was opened cannot tell you how much mould had grown on everything.. would rather repack a few boxes than take the chance. Good luck

In our climate, ISO containers are inherently damp. Even if they start out dry, successive warm/cold cycles cause condensation on the inside of the cold steel unless they are sufficiently insulated and ventilated.

The island looks to be well kept, with some nice deer fencing and well trimmed beech hedge along the path, someone has put a lot of time into keeping it trimmed up. A small gravel path like that takes constant upkeep, as do hedging and fencing. maybe you are not the only ones with keys, for maintenance looks like some else does some work in there.

I'm so sorry you've had to go through all that, I don't know why some people do what they do and can't just leave other people alone. And such weather. One thing that does stick really well in wet weather but you may not have is pond liner repair tape. It's called a few different things but super sticky and sticks to wet stuff. I hope once you get all your stuff out of there and your mood you can both take a relaxing time to recover. Hang in there!

I was shaking my head the whole episode wondering.....why! Please keep yourselves and the animals safe. I am so glad you involved the authorities. The best parts of the episode were Jeeves in the box and the sheep munching grass. I am sending you happy and healthy thoughts!
