The amount of power Kirk Cameron had on Growing Pains was ridiculous. No, you're an actor on the show. You read the lines. If you have a problem, we can fire you. He costed someone their job because of a past gig. If it was a woman making those demands, they'd be branded a diva and fired. The show sounded toxic in general. Tracey Gold had anorexia as a young teen, then when she gained a bit of weight, they put fat jokes into the show where her brothers called her fat. Then she relapsed again and started starving herself and even after losing weight, they still had the fat jokes. Her lowest weight was 80 pounds, and then they suspended her for being too thin. Sorry, you allowed scripts to be written where characters would comment on her weight (and probably filmed multiple takes so she heard the same insult again and again), and then when she lost too much weight you went "Oh, you're too thin, now. You're off the show until you look normal again." And even before the reboot of Roseanne, during the original one, she was a nightmare behind the scenes. She would have two writers' rooms and pit them against each other, and had so many she'd give them shirts with numbers on them. She would frequently fire writers and then bring them back. She would try to "spice things up" to bring up ratings and bring in these random comedians she thought were funny and have them join the writing staff, even if they didn't know about the show. Google "Who Jackie".

The thing about Kirk Cameron was that he was the heart throb of the show, so he was fired like he should've been, the show's survival rate is basically zero. The Tracey Gold stuff was always weird to me. I remember there had been one episode she fell through some floorboards in her room while she was exercising. Now it turns out the house had a termite problem but of course the usual fat jokes are coming from the brothers even after they find out about the termites to the point that Tracey in character had to point out she's 4 pounds UNDERWEIGHT. The Roseanne thing actually doesn't surprise. Tom Arnold has mentioned in interviews he would do a bunch of dickish power moves on random staff like take bites of their food in front of them without asking, since he's the stars husband, what are they going to do about it?

With Spacey being 100% cleared in every way, not so sure they were right to kick Kevin out. BS accusations do exist, had one happen to a colleague of mine, his life ruined, despite detectives proving that the girl was 100% lying in order to get back at him for reprimanding her in front of her classmates. As in the dumb chick bragged about exactly that on FB and Twitter. People like you are part of why lives are ruined by false accusations. Not saying it like I'm perfect and you are bad, you are probably a good person. Just asking you to take a look at it and see if there could be something there, because again, I'd bet you are a very good person, not trying to crap on you with that statement.

@@deaditeera There were rumors that Debra Messing was very jealous that Mullally's character was more popular and getting bigger laughs than her own. And that was what fueled the feud. Basically Messing is a diva without ever being an actual "A" lister. (The first Will & Grace was pretty fun and she was in good films in 2004, 2005 and 2007; but her career has been commercial spokesperson grade since then.) She was one of a group on a phone call the White House made to Hollywood actors after the SC struck down Roe V Wade. Messing said she was pissed off about it because she "got Joe Biden elected" and that there was no point to voting if she couldn't get her way in politics. She lives in her own world.

I think there were arguments about politics that played into it. When Roseanne came back, the character was a Trump supporter, as Roseanne was in real life. The then president of ABC asked her to tone down the politics, but Roseanne countered back after the renewal saying she wasn't going to shy away from politics. I think there was more to her dismissal than meets the eye, that ABC was looking for a reason to get rid of her

I have a term for when a show continues without a fired star. I call it a "F U" season. They keep the show going partly to flip the bird and say "F U* to the fired star to show that they can do the show without them and they are expendable. It also keeps everyone else in line because if you fire your major star, what hope have they got, so everyone else behaves themselves.

5:46 ~ Actually, according to her, although she never named the cast member who got her fired; it was due to the fact that she got pregnant and would soon be a single mom. She was scared. Some loser had sweet-talked her into sleeping with him. She decided to keep her baby. She mentioned a certain religious cast member didn't like that, and ultimately she, a soon-to-be single mom, was now without a job; without income. Apparently before she got pregnant in real life, she and his character were set to get married on the show. Making her a regular cast member That didn't happen.
@radrobd1237 ай бұрын
I'm not sure about that. Her character was just recurring. She was initially the nanny who dated Mike, but I don't think there were plans to make her a permanent cast member. Many of the main characters had recurring love interests who didn't stay. For example, Carol dated Sandy (played by Matthew Perry). His character died after a DUI

@@radrobd123 I think they did want to make her a regular. The season finale ended with Cameron's character proposing to her and then two episodes later she leaves him a Dear John letter right before the wedding, it all kind of reeks of hasty rewrite. What about Brett Butler during her time as the star of Grace Under Fire? Charlie Sheen wasn’t the only major headache for Chuck Lorre. Brett Butler’s erratic behavior off-camera was not only a major headache for him but for the most of the cast and crew as well. Her erratic behavior when she was intoxicated and allegedly flashed her breasts at the original actor that played her oldest son Quentin (the late Jon Paul Steuer) to be pulled from the show by his mother. Because of Steuer’s departure, the Quentin character miraculously got quickly bumped up in age, thanks to the arrival of Sam Horrigan as the 3rd actor to play her son Quentin. Her erratic behavior also lead to the departure of series regular Julie White as well along with production delays in the final season where the final season began airing in November and the series being cancelled by February because of Brett’s substance abuse problems and erratic behavior. Unlike Charlie Sheen, sadly Brett Butler hasn’t been trusted enough to headline another series since.
