How Shane is not here is unforgivable. But did get best cinematography. John Ford’s “The Man who Shot Liberty Valence” should be here too. Outstanding performance by Lee Marvin. It did win best costumes. And “High Noon”? Well …Gary Cooper won the Oscar for best actor.

I watched this video to see where "Tombstone" would be ranked. Instead it was snubbed. Ridiculous

The Searchers and The Wild Bunch both GREAT. Not mentioned: Lawman. True Grit remake: like almost all remakes--WEAK. Original version? GREAT. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: boring. Too hysterical/Italian

The last great movie which won the Best Picture Oscar was No Country for old Man.

He's absolutely right. The academy for motion pictures consists of actors, producers, and directors. They are overwhelmingly liberal. They hate genre pictures. According to them we already know how a genre picture is going to end. So why even bother to ses it ? By genre picture I mean the gangster film, the Western, and others. They love message movies where there's a liberal and uplifting theme about ending racism and ending violence.

If you pay any attention to reading film scholars like Peter bogdanovich, andrew lSarris us and, David Thomson, they point this out repeatedly

What is it about the Oscars that you people do not understand? There is no robbing. Each year the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences holds a huge party and gives gifts to some of its members. Many corporations do this. The difference between the Academy and those other corporations is that with the Academy Awards, every member gets to vote.

All really great western movies! Never tire of watching them. I have most of them in my collection.

I just saw The Wild Bunch again after 30 years. Let me offer up the following: The first section, culminating with their discovery that they stole washers instead of silver money, is great! However, after that the film is rather so-so. Discuss.

There is no accounting for taste so I won't discuss what I think of your moronic comment. Oops! Freudian slip.

Well, at the Oscars, actors are doing important things like slapping each other on stage, and maybe a wardrobe malfunction or two.
