1. Use satin hair bands 2. Wash your hair regularly 3. Leaving protective styles on for too long 4. Shower 5. Rinse out your conditioner with cool water instead of hot water 6. Dry hair gently with a T-shirt or micro fibre fabric 7. Stop sleeping in your conditioner 8. Don’t comb dry hair. Spray it lightly before detangling 9. Clean your hair tools! 10. Use a thermal protector before using heat on your hair

I am going back to combing dry hair. When I was a kid with natural hair, I braided my hair every single night and my hair grew longer. Getting out shed hairs at least once a week is so important but not discussed much. Shed hairs that stay in your hair cause tangles. If your hair is strong, you should not have breakage. Keeping the sheds hairs out will make combing your hair easier. It's the shed hairs that cause breakage, tangles and matting.
@KarenofCurlHouse

Hey there! I agree and thank you for bringing this to my attention that we don't discuss this often. Removing shed hair absolutely cuts back on breakage due to tangles. I will add this my video list for the month. 💜

@@KarenofCurlHouse ❤❤❤❤ this is my first time here I'm a new subscriber🎉 thank you for such an informative video ❤ I'm commenting here🎉 because she said she's going to go back to combing dry hair? I went back and listen but I thought you said in the video only comb damp? I get my hair blow-dried and straightened so what is your suggestion to use.... I wrap my hair at night and when I wake up.... instead of combing it or brushing it what would you suggest please?❤

@@KatinaLifeCoach4444 so when your hair is stretched from blow drying or twists/braids, you can comb it dry because its stretched, so that's fine. I'm going to create another video clarifying this.

@tulippurple349 even for instance exercising the discipline to pursue a weight loss programme consistently for one's own self can be hard or deciding to give up smoking. One is doing for one's own self and yet it is hard. This being said, my comment falls under the umbrella of purely personal experience and not universality. Therefore your question actually is a non sense (devoid of any meaning) in that what is hard for one person may be a walk in the park for another. In fact, there are sufferers of mental illness who see taking care of themselves as something wrong. So please, if you have no valid point to make, how about maintaining silence? Natural hair is actually very fragile, doing all that needs to be done is hard and tiresome. Which is why many leave in protective styles for too long.

@@KarenofCurlHouseYes please do a video about hair care while going through menopause!! I am all gray and my hair is extremely dry. I've tried a number of steps that have been suggested in various videos...perhaps I'm not doing something often enough... I don't want to do keratin treatment as has been suggested by my stylist to smooth my hair. My hair is thinning in my crown and I don't think putting chemicals like this is a good idea now. Don't really want to have to go down this route even if my hair and scalp were healthy. Keratin treatments are expensive and the heat needed to get keratin to adhere to my hair is too much. My gray seems to be very sensitive to heat (yellowing).

Now I just braid it every night, fluff it the next day..and just let it grow..

Thank you so much for this hair care video. I needed this reminder as I have been guilty of combing my hair dry, rinsing with warm to hot water. I have even been to shops that rinsed my hair with really warm water. I did it not knowing better, but also hair is thick and it responds to warm water better than cool water. Lastly, I recently left my corn rolls in my hair longer than usual and I paid for it. As you mentioned, my hair was dry, very brittle, tangled really bad, and coming out at the ends. Never again will I do that. I have to wash my hair weekly, or I will have an itchy scalp. Thank you for this video. 😊

I'm so confused with conflicting information. You recommend combing the hair only when damp/wet...as a non cosmetologist how do I know which one is correct? This is no shade to anyone, I'm just wanting to know the correct way to manage my hair. I love your channel by the way💜

Just in case she doesn’t have an opportunity to answer, the best way to detangle your hair is when it’s soaking wet to damp, with some kind of product to aid in the ease of detangling. You can comb your hair dry when it’s stretched. When you comb your hair curly when it’s dry, you’re risking the chance of creating breakage. Especially with finer hair strands. If you think about it, if your strands are coiled or curled upon each other, why would you want to run a dry comb through curls?
@ebonywatson9939
@ebonywatson9939 Жыл бұрын
I agree. I always detangle with water and a conditioner and an oil and I have less shedded hair than I do doing it on dry hair. I don’t know why a licensed hairdresser would tell you to do that on dry hair
@HerGuiltlessGarb

@@ebonywatson9939 me neither! There’s SO MUCH conflicting information nowadays in the natural hair community that it’s almost impossible to determine the best hair care practices. It seems like everybody’s divided in their opinions.

@denyshadials5702 Жыл бұрын
When in doubt, test it out. I think you’ll find that damp/wet is easier, faster and breaks off less hair, but come back and let us know. Wait a week before using either technique so there’s the same amount of shed hair. That way you can see how much breakage the other one causes. And yes, both while curly

For me I detangle on dry hair before I shampoo. The night before washing, I use oil all over my hair and sleep with it over night. The next day before my wash I detangle my hair and the comb just glides through my hair because of the oil. The detangling on wet hair with conditioner does not work for me. I lost more hair that way. Just for reference my hair is fine, coily and high porosity.

.... The Bible shows that God's months start with the new moon day. However, this is not true on the Gregorian calendar. This is sure proof that the Gregorian calendar is not true time. Genesis 1:14, the sun, moon and stars is the true time that God ordained in the beginning of creation. God do not change. The Sabbath is still calculated by true time, not the Beast's time. The Beast in Daniel 7:25 only can think to change time on paper, for, he can not change true time that sits in the heavens. ................................... Here is how people that are trying to keep the commandment in Genesis 1:14 calculate the Sabbath. We are aware that there is more light to come on this important subject. Some start the new moon day with the dark phase of the moon and some start it with the sliver, the first light that appears on the moon. At this present time, I start the new moon day with the sliver. This is how I do it. Start with the new moon day, that is day 1, the first day on God's months. Then count 6 work days. Then the Sabbath day. This is how the first week looks on God's months. Week 2,3 and 4 is..... 6 work days and then the Sabbath day. When the next new moon day comes around again, this process starts over. There is never, ever, ever 5 weeks on God's months as it is on the famous Gregorian calendar. Neither do any of God's three category of days, the new moon day, the six work days and the Sabbath day, ever overlaps each other as it does on the Gregorian calendar. Another proof of it (Gregory calendar)not being true time. Beloved of The Most High God, I hope this was useful❤️ Ps..... Research "Project 2025" Read the section about the Sabbath. We need to make a wise decision about which calendar we will calculate the Sabbath before or if "The Powers" enforce any type of Sabbath law. Today , there are still Sabbath laws/Sunday blue laws on government books. Ll

Today was the 1st time I caught you . I found every thing you said very beneficial. Thank you. I have lost the hair on the sides of my head. The dermatologist gave me a cream to use and I saw no progress after 6 wks. My primary care physician will be doing blood work soon to determine if I have some embalance. Hopefully i get an answer soon. My mother, nor my sisters had this problem.

How long is too long to wear a wig, especially if I have CCCA and my hair is really broken off? I wash it every two weeks, oil my scalp every 2 to 3 days, and deep condition as well. I'm trying to give my hair a break and not manipulate it too much until it gets healthy again.

This was my first time viewing one of your videos and I enjoyed the content. I subscribed because I want to support classy, fashionable, and informative content. My daughter has had natural hair for some time now. She loved the hair products that she was using mainly, due to the fact, that she is allergic to coconut and coconut-related products. Now she is looking for another hair shampoo and natural hair products that do not contain coconut. Do you know of any natural hair shampoos and other hair products that do not contain coconut that I can share with my daughter? We both would truly appreciate it.

it's genetic. if you are blessed with thick hair genes, you don't have to strive for it. my hair is thin, has always been thin. nothing external will make it thick. I have increased my length, but my hair texture is the same. I followed Cathy Howse back in 2010, and over 9 years my hair went from top of ear length to shoulder length, which is long for me. These tips here are true. Wash often, detangle with fingers, deep condition with heat every 3rd wash. I'm natural 4C. thinking of going relaxed again.
