I'm LOVING how many breakout players we're seeing this year folks! Shoutout to the players like Peterka, Cuylle, Blomqvist who I didn't have time to mention, they're still awesome! What are YOUR thoughts on these breakout guys? And who has surprised you the MOST on this list? #GravGang

Caufield and Hutson are great to watch.
@LethalTobinatorАй бұрын
Caufield got that shot back baby! Hes a small player proving it on the top line, you know he had it in him! Lane Hutson is a different animal. At 20 he has sooo many tricks! When he works on perfecting those skills he will be a top 10 HOF Dman. He has only played 10 games and each game he’s learning how to command the ice at the NHL level. If he continues and plays all 82 games how would you be surprised if he gets 60 pts in his rookie season?
@holden9278Ай бұрын
What brings down Brandt Clarke's defensive metrics is the fact they have him paired with Joel Edmundson who's a pylon he's looked a lot better defensively when he isn't paired with Edmundson
@ItsLaforgeАй бұрын
the assist to goal ratio for caufeild has a lot to do with the fact no one else can score its brutal I swear he's like 80% of the offense, at this rate I think demidov would already be the 2nd best the way there playing
@benoitrobitaille5235Ай бұрын
Montreal got lots of D-Men with better offensive instincts than 90% of their forwards … which sadly isn’t saying much.
@politicalbandwagon4989Ай бұрын
Slaf and Suzuki have been doing great work feeding him. Our other lines are starting to wake up but they’ve been pretty dead to start this season. I’m just hoping we can stay afloat until Laine gets back

McMichael and Protas have been outstanding 5 vs 5 and short handed. McMichael had a dominant 10 shots against the Rangers this week (they had 19 shots as a team).

A couple that could be included in the discussion are the pair that Doug Armstrong and the Blues pried away from Edmonton this past off-season. BOTH Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway are looking like great additions for the Blues, a couple of consistent bright spots in a VERY erratic season so far.

He hates the Blues AND has zero clue whatsoever about them, he would never compliment them properly.

No way you did not put Nico Heisher there! He is leading the league in goals and his very young. He is the best goal scorer right now. I DONT KNOW HOW YOU DID NOT PUT HIM THERE
@DutchovenderlindeАй бұрын
Sounds silly but in NHL 24 and 25 Franchise Mode, McMichael has been my go to 3rd liner to start off and he always ends up as a SOLID 2nd liner with 55-65 points every year lol. Glad to see him living up to it IRL.

No mention of Cole Perfetti (12gp 4G, 7A), but including the king of head fakes and almost goals/assists Lane Hutson (12 gp, 0 G, 7 A) is criminal.

Really nice for Florida to know that they don't need to keep Bennett if it doesn't make sense to with the cap he's clearly shown he can be a top 6C with Florida. Bet we see his production drop now that Barkov is back but will be a good guy to watch leading up to next season

We are so used to offesive defensemen being horrible defensively that Hutson undeservedly got that reputation. Those who watch the games know that he is not bad at all defensively. He makes some very good plays in his own zone and even wins some physical 1on1 battles. I'm not saying he is a stud in is own zone, but he is a lot better defensuvely than people give him credit for

@spyrrex_7541Ай бұрын
happy to hear about hutson even if his point total isn't that impressive right now. He doesn't play powerplay 1 and it's okay for now, but the guy is just buzzing around in the offensive zone, I haven't seen a habs player create that many chances for his teammates since I've started watching them. (I've been a fan since around 2007 with kovalev and all) He had multiple great chances to score his first but got multiple posts and great saves from goalies. Defensively... he is better and way better at the moment than barron, xhekaj, strubble (for now), savard (for now), mailloux, and maybe matheson. The only one clearly better defensively at the moment is guhle in my opinion. savard and strubble are better than how they are playing right now, but hutson is not bad defensively. He makes a lot of mistakes, but makes up for it and he has that dawg in him, he works so hard to take it back. physically in the d-zone it's harder for him, but he is so good at following his guy and putting pressure with his stick, that he's already pretty good. with time he'll clean up the mistakes and be an amazing for the habs. He is the best offensive player on the team this year, I expect caufield to slow down, but hutson will start getting the points soon.

Lane Hutson is nasty, could easily have 3g 10A atm

Nobody thinks Hutson is bad it's just really easy to get a rise out of Habs fans about it. That being said he's defensive play is really bad at times but it's to be expected it's just annoying how Habs fans won't stop talking about him, even if he does nothing they get hyped. Like him being hyped for his bag skate in practice today the Habs are a terrible skating team no shock he looks good in a bag skate there
@unbearablycringeАй бұрын
Same thing with Stutzle, we only mock him because it makes y'alls blood boil but we all know Stutzle is fantastic
@spyrrex_7541Ай бұрын
honestly he makes mistakes, but a lot of times he corrects them quickly. he's really intense. defensively he might be bad at times, but since the start of the year, barron, xhekaj, mailloux, even savard and strubble avec been worse than him😂. he is really good at putting pressure on his guy with his stick. physically it's harder, but he still manages in his own way to not get completly dominated. he is not that bad defensively at all. He had a few -4 games that were almost not his fault. savard made big mistakes, forwards didn't cover him, a few empty met goals and you get 2 -4 games. He makes big turnover sometimes and need to learn from that but I can live with it because he's a rookie trying something because the team is always trailing.
@BaconNationChannelАй бұрын
I think he ties up his guys pretty well. The only time he gets scored on when he's on the ice is because he's running the play offensively and none of the forwards caught on. Then a turnover happens while Hutson is behind their net. Guess what happens then.. I have seen 2 turnovers from Hutson that was a direct goal against but those will be reduced with time, Im not worried. But yeah, forwards should know when Hutson is on the ice and is likely to push the play more than the usual D man.
@spyrrex_7541Ай бұрын
@@BaconNationChannel exactly, it's so frustrating when the forwards are too sleepy to realise that they need to cover for him. He'll be amazing with experience, he already is great.
