I forgot to add that back then with a rotary phone, if you hung up on someone they could still be there making it impossible to call anyone. One day I was talking to my up the street friend and she forgot to hang up her phone. I could hear her talking but she couldn't hear me. I had to call her neighbor to go and tell my friend to hang up the phone!🙂

There is a camera there. There is a director. This is not a true representation of anything. There was just as much violence, ignorance, disobedience, lying, etc., as there is today. Don't let people tell you there was a "simpler time" when everything was wonderful. There never was such a time.

Thank you!!!. People have short memories. You think those kids spoke to each other like that when there were no adults around.

Absolutely right! In fact, it was probably far worse. Take as an example child abuse. People brushed it under the carpet, back then, as it didn't fir with the perfect family image. Or behaviour toward women or minorities. Rubbish, compared to now.

There's some vague and inexplicable feeling of optimism oozing out of these old clips, even when there's nothing happy happening or when debates are happening in them. I wonder what is this?

“Bull sessions “. I haven’t heard that slang since I was a kid. My brother’s gang used to have raucous nightly bull sessions in my folks kitchen and then go out and raise hell!

And this was before caller ID! Sometimes a guy would call and I had no idea who I was talking to. I well remember some guy calling weekly around 9 pm and saying "Goodnight. I love you." And he'd hang up the phone. It was creepy: I wouldn't find out until I was a senior who he was-- his sister told me. All I can say is Ew! Talking to guys on the phone then was a challenge as sometimes it was hard to respond. And on my part, my mom was nearby which made it bother me if I said the wrong thing. I was 14 and tall in the tenth grade and all I can say was there were some weird conversations.🙂 BTW there was also no way to block someone either!

In Arizona we don't have healthy relationship classes in high school. That's a good investment to reduce domestic violence. Bullies don't stop bullying men and women.
