Why is sofi speculative? They are profitable and growing fast

Growing fast sure, but just marginally profitable for still a huge $7B valuation. But really the key risk with Sofi is if the economy dips into a recession, unemployment continues to tick up. People will begin to default on personal loans quite fast. We haven’t yet seen this bank navigate a recession. Obviously the flip side is if that doesn’t happen, deposits continue to grow and Sofi doesn’t need to rely on those provisions for loan losses

@@TheStockStudy that goes for all banks, many regional banks are in much worse shape because of their commercial lending Sofi has zero commercial lending and has cut back on all loans, which has slow the growth. They have a very conservative management.

Yup, that goes for all banks. My concern is will Sofi be able to survive a high unemployment recession. I don’t have the same concern with other larger banks. This is not me rooting against the company, just providing a bear case perspective
