I'm trying to get This War of Mine to the table this month. The subject matter is heavy but important

Hey, as I mentioned in another comment the rule book really holds your hand. So, there is no need to feel daunted. You dont even need to read the rules before you play.

Yes, I completely agree. Very sensitive topic. Just trying to survive - like so many people.

Corleone's Empire is an easy play and teach. definitely less than 2 hours. my play group plays that one on the regular. fast turns, amazing game

Love to hear this! I don’t ever hear much about this game, and it’s easily the oldest on my shelf of shame

Player count is tough for me, too. I should attempt that challenge, too. But this year we are playing a bunch of our unplayed campaign games. Pretty proud of that. But there are still many campaign games left including Frosthaven and Oathsworn. War of the Ring is soo good. Can totally recommend it.

If only we could live with friends all the time and not work!! Haha Life really gets in the way of board game tome

Cresent moon is one i recently acquired and been meaning to learn. Godfather is a fairly easy teach/fun play. If y'all need a 4th, let me know and i can teach ya!

HENRY YES! Let’s get a game day scheduled and play Godfather!! I’ll try and learn Crescent Moon in the mean time haha

Wow, I've never seen Crescent Moon before, but that box is stunning!

It really is! Visually drew me in on top of LOTB’s help

The components look really nice on the table too. But, I've heard it's a "fragile Root", in that it's very asymmetric that requires that each player try to play their role well (counteracting other player's moves), otherwise a player can run away with the game. And that it really requires 4p or 5p, so that there's enough stuff happening to drive the larger "game cycle". I need to get it to the table for sure.
@Thebrad119846 ай бұрын
The curse of 3P minimum. Hanza just can’t get played because the couple we play with regularly aren’t ready for that type of euro and our bigger group I can never convince to play over the new hotness or our quick favorites. I think you just need to entice Kenny by agreeing to play one of his favorites. This war of mine is one I’m interested in but not sure I’ll ever pick it up
@Tablenauts6 ай бұрын
It’s certainly a shame for some games! Fortunately 3 is a great player count for plenty of other games. Ya win some ya lose some!
@TheTrendz246 ай бұрын
Oh man. Hey, this was of mine is so good, trust me when I say it’s really not daunting at all. The setup is not bad, the Rulebook is the best I’ve ever seen- just do what it says while it’s saying it, then it stops and go back to the beginning. It’s setup to just walk you through as you play, no memorizing needed, but it’s hard as heck to win. My 3 times and I’ve still never won.

Love it! I’m excited to dive in. I’ve heard by many that it’s the best solo game.

War of the Ring! I prepped for that game and still haven't played it. I have different color cubes and discs that replaced the red and blue minis. Off the top of my head theres like a red, orange, and yellow set of discs/cubes replacing the red minis and I think 2 shades of blue, 2 shades of green, and a brown set of discs/cubes for the other side. At a glance, I couldn't imagine being able to tell the red and blue minis apart. The grey minis have thier flags painted to match the color of the cubes/discs and I never paint anything! I spent a lot of time planning on playing lol but I still need to get it go the table.
@Tablenauts6 ай бұрын
I am with you there!! We will see when I actually see it played
@JanusZudnik6 ай бұрын
Don't replace the minis they are great. It's really quite easy to tell them apart

The Godfather should be easy to knock off your list. It's pretty simple, but quite fun. Don't think about it, just do it. 2 or 3 hours, and you've learned it and played it.

Love comments like this (no sarcasm). Thank you! When I think in terms of “this is just this window of time and you’ve got it” it helps!

Now you have to update us on the Impossible to Table List every month as you update us on the Play Your Entire Collection Challenge vids. Good luck and have fun!

Ha! That might be a good idea! Thanks so much!

This War Of Mine is fantastic, and actually very easy to learn and play because the rule book is quite unique. It takes you through every turn in a very accessible way. Just takes hours to play. Watching your group make critical decisions and seeing the outcomes would be great. No spoilers!

My wife and I made the same resolution. It's hard! Sometimes you get fixated on one of them. Arkham Horror has consumed us for weeks. Slows down the progress!

Sounds great! War of the Ring is a beast but once you get going it falls into place. Just expect to be overwhelmed early on. And This War of Mine is the most unique and moving experience I’ve had in the gaming space.

Unfortunately you cannot play Crescent Moon with fewer than 4, and it's really considered to need the full 5 to work properly.
@Tablenauts6 ай бұрын
Oof, looks like that takes number one for hardest then! Haha I need to call up some friends

War of the ring is difficult to learn because of the rulebook. I think Shea from RTFM has a good video on it. Use the video and then go to the rulebook. Once you start playing it all makes sense and the flow is not that difficult. If you played Dune you should be able to handle War of the Ring ok.
@Tablenauts6 ай бұрын
Thank you! I’ve may check that video. I’m hoping to get a buddy to come and play with me that already knows it, but knowing it myself would also be good I’m aurw
@bjj_99256 ай бұрын
How many games do you own? Just curious of how actually hard is to play your entire collection.
@Tablenauts6 ай бұрын
I started around 275, but have added about 20 games this year! My videos recounting the games played actually have a counter in the top left that goes up and down as I add games to my collection and play them, and currently I’m at around 180 left! 😂 Gotta get playing!

Crescent moon is awesome but you're right, it's an absolute bear to learn. Also it's really only good at 5 players, any less and you're missing a key role for the "ecosystem" so to speak. Also Godfather is so good but also super easy. You'll have no problem learning it.
@Tablenauts3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the info!! Crescent Moon I think will easily be the toughest. I’m so excited to get a game of it played though if we can just learn it!
@Diceonahill6 ай бұрын
Dont be put off by 'This War of Mine' the rule book guides you through the gameplay. You can literally read as you play, you dont need to memorise anything. It is a great game, takes quite a while to play unless you die early. Which you might on the first play... hahaha.
@Tablenauts6 ай бұрын
Hey, I’ll do my best, but if I die first play, then that’s a quick play out of the way! 😂

This War of Mine is really not that hard to get into. It's pretty much just start playing and learn as you go along. Very dark story, but a really good game
