I was 12 when Sharon Tate was murdered. It was the worst thing of that time. I even recall the assassination of JFK in 1963. I'd just started first grade in September. Then in 1968 we had MLK in April and Bobby Kennedy in June. Definitely a sad time for our country.

I was in grade school watching the Challenger go into space live in my science class. I was probably 10 (born in 1975). The teacher jumped out of her chair and turned off the TV and we were all stunned, we didn't know what happened. We had an assembly in the auditorium after lunch that day and the principal told us they all died. That was my generations "where were you when Kennedy was shot" moment.

There was an actress who was in Bonanza, the episode where Hoss and Little Joe were mistaken for the Slade brothers. @laurab5750
@laurab5750 7 ай бұрын
That was Jenny Maxwell. I recently heard a podcast featuring her nephew. They actually solved the murder. It was a murder for hire by her husband, who had arranged to be shot too(supposed to be a minor wound) to remove suspicion from himself. Karma was swift...he moved as he was being shot and the supposedly minor wound actually killed him a few days later.

@@laurab5750 Thanks, I just read that. I always had that premonition that this was not a random robbery. I find it strange that I was very doubtful about the circumstances concerning this murder. I read about it years ago, and you are correct. They recently found her husband as the suspected individual who was in it for the money she had. Sad, but everything went to his daughters, and they refused to give her only son any of what she had. All because her crooked husband outlived her by a few hours. He was supposed to survive after being shot to look like it was not his doing. I need to go to Hollywood, and look into some more suspicious cases like this. How she chose to be with him is the biggest mystery of all. She deserved a lot better.

Dennis Wilson introduced Manson to Terry Melcher (Doris Day’s son) because he was a music producer. Manson was trying to get a recording contract. Melcher said no. When Melcher told his mother about meeting Manson he said he really creeped him out. His mother advised him to move. Then Polanski and Sharon Tate moved in to the house Melcher used to share with Candace Bergan. Manson was actually going after Melcher. After the murders Manson knew people would suspect him so he ordered another hit to make the murders appear random. The Labianca murders were just a random choice to throw the police off Manson’s trail. Mike Love’s biography tells about meeting Manson and Dennis introducing Manson to Melcher. He said Manson really creeped him out as well. Interesting piece of history. Check out Mike Love’s book.
