The funny thing about the horse meat scandal, is that sales of their products went up during that period and a lot of people preferred the taste over cow meat. The scandal itself wasn't that they were selling horse meat, it was that it was mislabelled on the packaging.

The thing with advertising campaigns is that they take months or even years to plan. For the ones with unfortunate Hashtags, that could easily have just been an unfortunate coincidence; if they planned that a full year before the event happened, then it isn’t really the company’s fault. On the other hand, ones that are offensive on their own merits have managed to sneak past a full year of scrutiny.

The second Hacienda one was clever and could have worked if used to bring awareness to immigration policies at the time. But without that angle, it just comes off as trying to lean in to Millenial and Gen Z humour without actually knowing why companies like Wendy's and Burger King succeed in that regard.

Hi, regarding the horse meat thing, part of my family is from Chile in South America and over there it's legal to eat horse meat, most athletes over there only eat horse meat because of how healthy it is, its expensive but if you can afford it, you can order it at restaurants and i have to admit... it's tasty, very lean.
