These ALDENS are MONSTERS! DOUBLE LEATHER SOLE | WOOD GRAIN EFFECT! Creating WEARABLE ART

Whatsup beautiful people! In this week's video we are going to be converting a pair of Alden Brown Suede shoes from a Red Wedge sole to a Double leather sole with a beautiful wood grain effect. Using several dyes and creams we completely transform the boring looking leather Into a complete work of wearable art!

I love the new look. I also like the channel cutter you use to recess the stiching. It seems cobblers in the states dont use this.

*Actually they do make channels in the soles for the stitching in the USA. I watch a variety of cobblers from around the world and from the US. Trenton and Heath for example from Nashville, Tennessee, carve channels in the soles 😊 no worries! They aren't the only Americans who do. Others do as well and some don't. I've seen ones who do it by hand, and ones who do it by machine. It is a nice feature for sure in general!*

@@mwilsingtonhaven’t picked them up yet, only finished in the last day or so. Don’t anticipate they’ll be overly stiff judging by other pairs of double sole shoes I have.

Great job as always. I consider Alden to be a premium dress shoe so those red soles really did not make it. Love the double leather soles, they make the shoe more formal and majestic. All leather heels? Might be a bit slippery but the customer is always right. Look forward always to your videos.

Yeah I hate getting shoes in that have already been repaired that the previous repairer didn't bother removing the old stitching. Like you said it destroys the welt but also makes your job harder having to remove 2-3 layers of stitching

I didn't see you put a separate midsole on the shoe. So, I assume this double leather sole is really the equivalent of a (thick) leather midsole and a leather outsole ? Is the leather used in the midsole always the same hard tanned leather as the outsole or do you sometimes use a softer leather to provide more cushioning ?
