Wait these don't already have stainless steel frets??? Gibson moment... There are $250 Harley Benton guitars that come with SS frets 😂
@Darth.Shredder Жыл бұрын
@@gdawgs101 Yeah, I get the whole tradition Gibson and many Gibson players embrace, but a "modern" version of this guitar should have stainless frets. If they're going to call it "modern" them make it modern. Leave everything else nickel. As you've said, it's not a huge expense if Harley Benton and even some Amazon guitars have them. Unfortunately, Gibson counts every penny down to the screw. I've worked with one of their former product managers at another company and they think of everything on a mass quantity basis... If they can save a dime on something they don't look at it as a dime, it's a dime on 300 guitars a day, 1500 guitars a week and so on.
@mr.h57885 ай бұрын
These guitars are 1500-2000! Not worth that at all IMO. Go play them. Gibson is so inconsistent. Standards also have so many flaws and tuning issues. These guitars should all have SS frets and be plek'd from the factory. No excuses... Build them right and charge a few hundred more! Otherwise, they're just ruining their reputation.

The seafoam I think would have looked better with a top like the blue one has. I agree on the label they should put modern instead of model. Just picked up a seafoam on a black Friday deal and it's amazing. Good flame on mine, neck is super comfortable and it plays very well. However, mine appears to beat 1 piece body and the body color is a darker brown than the natural shown in Trogly's video. Very happy that's the case because I think it looks even better! Love the seafoam green! I need one of those. I just received the cobalt burst, and it looks a lot like the one you showed here. Looks great, sounds great! I'm sold on the Burstbucker Pro pickups, despite having been a Classic '57 purist for years. The "single-coil/P90 tone" is not that useful, IMO. The key value here, to me, is setting the bridge and neck PUs to taste, allowing essentially a two-channel experience while playing live. I don't have much use for a Gibson version of single-coil pickups. And "direct-to-bridge" is not at all useful to me. But the neck PU set on "woman tone" is just spectacular with a Keeley Blues Disorder pedal through a Marshall JTM 45. It's the tone I've been chasing forever, and have now found with a slim-taper neck. Yes, it was $3 grand. But that's the only way I was able to achieve it. So there ya go. I got there. Finally. Took me 50+ years. Worth every penny. Don't wait as long as I did. Go straight to the end game. Pay your money. Get your tone. Stop effing around.

These look nice! I actually like all three colors. I think I prefer the Sea Foam Green-it works really well with the natural back-but I’d take any one of them. The Cobalt Blue is nice too, but I already have an SG Supreme in a similar color, and the dark blue back and neck on that Modern is awfully dark. Ever play an outdoor gig in the sun with a guitar with a black neck? I have, and after maybe a minute I couldn’t touch the neck! Yowtch!!🔥I really like the Cherryburst one too-the cherry-red back is killer on that. I think they’ll sell a lot more of this model than they did the old ones, but maybe the old ones will start showing up at discounted prices! The only one of those I liked was the Sparkling Burgundy, but I like these transparent finishes better than any of the old ones.

Nice guitars. I would like to see a modern guitar with these 1 features: 1. A belly cut for comfort, 2. a smidge less depth to get the weight down to around 8 lbs, and 3. a true old school tobacco burst with a dark (near black) going to a reddish/yellowish burst (like a 1930s tobacco burst). I probably still couldn't see dropping all that money for a guitar but it would be perfect.

I recently purchased the EPIPHONE LP Modern in Sparkling Burgandy, Which is stunning especially with the dark ebony fretboard. The 3piece Body is a dealbreaker. Not in that price category, I don't care how great the tops are. Nice review. I actually thought the last series of Les Paul modern guitars had way cooler and modern looking tops. These new tops don't look modern at all. But I thought that Gibson fans wouldn't bond with the previous colors because they typically prefer more old school classic looking flame top guitars...that aren't weight relieved, and don't have push pull pots. I'm not surprised that the previous ones didn't sell that well. I considered buying the previous modern several times because I like plain tops but decided to buy the Les Paul Classic instead because there wasn't anything added to the modern versus classic that I felt warranted the added price that I would need. Both have the exact push pull pots. Pickups come down to preference... both good on both models. I don't really need neck cutaway, and the non-locking tuners are fine in the classic. I have several guitars with and without locking tuners and I don't notice a difference really. I actually don't really think you are getting anything more for the standard Les Paul either unless you want a flame top... it's just good Gibson marketing. It's been proven that weight relief vs no weight relief has zero effect on tone... and the hand wiring vs PCB doesn't affect tone either...i have guitars with both and it makes zero difference...

Mr Trogly I have a serious question. Why aren’t Gibson offering Jumbo fretwire ? Or even a choice of fretwire? If I go to any other guitar company, they offer jumbo frets. Fender, PRS, Ibanez, ESP, Yamaha…yet Gibson make a guitar with modern appointments and medium jumbo frets that are even smaller thanks to being ground down in the PLEK process? It seems to be a ridiculous state of affairs.
