In this lesson, I break play and break down some of my favorite drum licks that I use all the time. These drum licks all can be found in my Drum Solo Vocabulary E-Book Vol. 1 & 2. It is imperative to isolate these drum licks, play them SLOWLY and then gradually work them up in speed. It is also very important to play them in different ways, otherwise you will be stuck playing them the same way. Lastly the last step is to put them into context of soloing combining them with other licks and phrases. I do exactly that in this lesson, These Are Some of My Favorite Drum Licks.

I was getting a bunch of Max Roach and Bill Stewart vibes off of this. Everyone should get all the digital downloads. I’ve found that playing through them a bunch makes the vocabulary start to come through stronger. But don’t forget to listen. FP

Quincy! That used to be a Cop/Doctor show in your country before you were born! I wondered if you could do a video on how to brake up the beat, like ECM style.mostly no backbeat, but wishy washy ,cyms a lot. I just sound like Im doggy paddling instead of a more of a John Christensen way.Can you help? (Green tea in the post)

Oh man, I wish I could play like you, utter magic Quincy!, alas, after hearing my shelf back a couple of nights ago I went into deep depression, it was shockingly bad, I mean awful, we are having a could snap at the moment and the garage is cold, I'm using that as an excuse not to face the drum kit!!, my issue... timing, like my 'Dad dancing', no rhythm, well that's what my wife says anyway!!!!
