If you’re smart enough to avoid paying taxes legally than that’s what you should do. People should not feel obliged to donate to the government if they don’t have to. Doesn’t matter if you’re rich or not. The vast majority of people who are wealthy are incredibly hard workers and know how to manage their finances. Get the laws changed if you have a problem with the tax system but don’t try to make people feel bad for trying avoid taxes legally!💯

Many of these cars, I think reliability and cost of ownership is the concern. I am always going to pick Lexus/Toyota and Acura/Honda over most vehicle makers.

FYI the LC500 is getting a slight interior refresh in 2024, to look more like the LS500 with the touchscreen interface. I'm not sure if the early ones will be more valuable -- because the screen doesn't look tacked on -- or less. Plus there are some new color options. I very strongly believe that it will be a "future classic", especially given Toyota's push to smaller displacement and turbos. In 10 years people will be like "why did nobody buy these" when every car enthusiast channel is telling people to buy them. Mine is a '21 with ~6K miles, but I don't drive it November to April except on really nice days (Denver).

I always thought it was hydrogen *combustion* engines that had the NOx issue (and that's because the expelled oxygen doesn't have any free carbon to combine with, and there's a lot of N2 in the air that can break free from the exhaust heat and form NOx ). Never heard about NOx issues with fuel cells.

Shame on Ford. I was kind of interested in the Nautilus for the wife's car but when I found out that it was made in China it was dropped from consideration. I am not going to "get used" to the fact that our companies are so short-sighed to offshore production to our nation's biggest enemy.

Fuel cells provide pure H2 fuel to the reaction, but use air as the source of O2 for the chemical reaction that produces electrical power. Our atmosphere is mostly N2 (78%) and O2 is only about 21%, so the fuel cell in a car has more N2 passing through it than it does O2. High temperatures result in N2 reacting with O2 to produce NOx. NOx reacts with sunlight and volatile organic compounds to form photochemical smog (the stuff that makes that ugly orange/brown pollution in the skies), a contributor to acid rain, impacts tropospheric ozone, and is not healthy to breathe (especially for the young, old, and those with lung disorders such as asthma and COPD). Catalytic converters on ICE engined cars are there to reduce NOx emissions. Fuel cells would need to keep reaction temperatures below 1300 C (2600 F). I don't think that is an issue. Hydrogen combustion such as in a hydrogen-fueled turbine definitely could produce such temperatures and create NOx. Fuel cells are not traditional combustion processes, they are controlled chemical reactions at lower temperatures without burning.

I like that you guys are sad when some of these cars don't sell. Not that being sad is good, but the fact that you're just really into cars come through load and clear. Also, who doesn't love a Thurston Howell imitation when talking about the ones you didn't care for so much. And lastly, decent job surviving the hydrogen talk. It's a 3rd rail situation for many. Way too many back seat scientists in the crowd. (they aren't all wrong, but can be off putting)

A few things… 1: why’d you make the main picture of the NSX? It’s discontinued 😂. It’s also a super car so it shouldn’t be sold in huge numbers. Thought that was odd. 2: Completely agree with your rant! There is two Americas. Rich people will always find a way to bend the rules. 3: This may be controversial but I’m going to say it. Hyundai and Kia are pieces of junk. Yes, they may be cranking out electric cars but why’s that matter if they’d having recalls over recalls. Also, for the N models, why would a lot of car enthusiasts seek these models out when Honda/Acura and Toyota are putting out some of the best sports cars they’ve made in a long time? They don’t have any credit. Honda and Toyota have racing teams and a lot of engineering. I know that Hyundai has some great talent they’ve stolen from BMW, but it takes culture and time to make big changes. Sure, some of the N models are fun cars but there’s no way it has a chance against the Type R or a Corolla GR. Like I said, not everyone will agree but I think Honda and Toyota are still making the better cars.

You want people to register and pay taxes in the locality that they reside in? Lower the taxes. This is the thing that people don't realize that if you're rich enough to afford a nice porsche, you're rich enough to avoid paying taxes that you don't have to pay. If you make the taxes reasonable, you take away the incentive to avoid them. 9% taxes on anything is ridiculous. This isn't something that only "rich" people can do. I just looked into it and there's a service that will setup an LLC in Montana for ... $400. "It goes to mostly good causes" .... oh poor Nathan. It goes towards politicians pet projects that perpetuate their status and hold on influence - which inflates their bank account.

@@TFLtalk If the cost of paying the tax is less than the cost of evading the tax, then it makes no sense to evade it. Its simple economics. Problem is that politicians can't ever decide to spend less of your money - and are as ignorant of incentives that drive peoples' decision making. "If we raise the tax rate, we'll get more revenue to spend on things that will get us re-elected" - Every idiot politician ever.

Really like when new TFL videos show up in the morning because they pair well with coffee and breakfast! I think you're spot on with several points, especially Lucid. I used to own shares of Lucid, in part because I was impressed with their technology and range. But as you mentioned, to release a sedan (imo which looks like a glorified Saturn) - not so much! I think Rivian in some ways is a better EV company, because they focused on making a really nice truck and SUV. I wouldn't at all be surprised if RIvian were acquired by a legacy OEM (or a group of them, hint hint Mazda Subaru) late to the EV game. *** By the way, can y'all do a TFL talk show dedicated to good value used electrified vehicles? I think a lot of consumers are unaware how affordable used EV's have become.. For example, these days I see lots of (relatively low mileage) Tesla S's for sale in the $20's.

I was really hoping that hydrogen fuel would be the future fuel. Really isn't much different than electric, meaning that fueling stations are centralized and requires electricity. Charging stations charge EV'S and requires a pretty big amount power. So why not use that same amount of energy to provide hydrogen fuel?

Exactly, my Canadian city raised municipal taxes 20% over 4 years an you are right our roads and infrastructure has declined with more taxes? @@TFLtalk how do you go to dealer auctions? You buy and sell on tflbids the cars you buy at auction. How are you not a used car dealer that makes additional money from journalism. There’s a lot of KZbin channels that do exactly what TFL classics does and they have dealer licenses and use dealer plates. So what am I missing, how is TFL not a used car dealer? They go to dealer only auctions, buy cars, makes videos and advertising for the car and sale of the car, and then sells the cars on their own auction site. That’s what car dealers do. And they don’t pay tax and title on every vehicle they own for a couple months and flip. I’m confused.

Having owned one, the Veloster was so unreliable, and Hyundai wouldn't fix my issues cause Korea wouldn't tell them a fix. The experience was so bad I swore off Kia/Hyundai. So frankly, doesn't surprise me the new Veloster isn't selling. Its great initially, but falls off a cliff. When your headliner is falling on your head and its not even a year old, AND the dealer won't fix it....yeah, no thanks..

Hyundai could absolutely crush the market with some good priced performance cars like the Ns, BUUUUUT the veloster was a total dud because of its 3 door design. Consumers want performance Sedans and hot hatches with 4 doors or RWD HP monsters in coups. Veloster targeted a market that didnt exist.....
