This video rules. I was literally just scrolling through all the other pod go videos, frustrated that they all either just talk about the product or go through pages and pages of setup with hardly any playing... then there's THIS! Thank you!!!!

Thanks a lot! Glad you found my video and it was helpful for you. This Michael Britt pack really was a bit of a lifesaver for me with the Pod Go. Makes it sound better in every way! I think the 3rd party IRs are the key to better sounds with this unit...

Rich, this video is so so valuable. I’m a noob just under a year of practicing guitar. I’ve been trying to see what ‘platform’ is best for me. An all in one system going through headphones is my zone and the Pod Go is what I got today after returning the GX-100, which was very hard for me to get good sounds out of (because I’m a beginner). I’m more than happy to spend a few bucks to get me up and running… literally. And loved that the first video of yours I saw had less than Jake riffs and metal as well. Our iPods on shuffle would have a lot of overlap! Thanks for the amazing videos, dude!

Thanks Tom! Really glad you found this video useful... and sure, it definitely helps to hear music being played that you actually like. I do struggle with that sometimes when checking out videos of gear - blues rock noodling is not my thing! The more punk lovers on here the better :) But yes, I hope the Pod Go does a job for you. It does have many, many options - just like the GX-100 - and that's why this Michael Britt pack was such a good investment for me. As soon as I loaded it up, I was where I wanted to be tonally, and streets ahead of all the sounds I'd spent ages building myself. I hope you end up enjoying it as much as I have. One small note: a couple of the Britt profile presets have the reverb level up way too high (so you can't hear the guitar's dry signal). Just turn it down to where you want it - just over 10% seems to work for me - and save the sound over, and you're good to go! Rock on, and if you have any more questions about anything on your guitar journey, let me know any time :) I love talking gear and helping out like-minded players when I can!

I just saw your other comment, and now this - great news! I'm really happy that you're digging the pack too. And I totally agree - I spent months tweaking the Pod Go and never got anywhere close to the Britt sounds. They really level it up in every respect. Happy playing! And please do let me know if you ever get any 3rd party IRs or cabs in that sound great with it. I'm always happy to get recommendations from other players :)

Thanks for posting this. I’m new to the pod go, and I have a serious hearing issue that makes it difficult for me to get good sounds. I just purchased and installed these, and they sound phenomenal. Maybe others have similar hearing issues: I went deaf in my left ear which caused bizarre hearing in my right. I got a cochlear implant 2 years ago, and music is a challenge with that. These presets are a godsend for me.

Thanks Rich for a fantastic video. I bought a Pod Go a few years ago and shelved it because I got "option paralysis" as you so aptly described it. I went through a bunch of amps and effects then put the PG back in my rig with my new Fender Deluxe reverb reissue. I like it, but it doesn't QUITE get me there. I'm going to get these MB tones and really appreciate your analysis. Thanks again.

Glad you enjoyed it Winston! Yes, that's one major downside of these modelers to me... sometimes you find yourself endlessly tweaking tones and not actually making any music! That's why the Britt profiles were such a game changer for me. They all just work right away! I hope you enjoy them when you pick them up... let me know when you try them what your thoughts are :) Cheers!

I'd also add that M Britt does all of his setups and presets using single coils, and I think thee really shine like that, Teles and Strats. He says as much in his info pack that comes with these. I have tweaked many for HB guitars, but to my ears they need to be tweaked for those instruments. I have used these on literally hundreds of gigs, and I love them. Do yourself a favor tonewise and try that to really hear a difference, especially in the cleaner end of the preset spectrum . Even the heavier gain presets really have a lot more character when you use a guitar more like what he designed them with. A+++++++

Hello Folks, I will try to make this as short as possible but have lots of info to share. FYI: i have never met Michael Britt nor Rich. Here is my Situation: I purchased a podgo a few years ago and got great clean tones and effects, but crappy crunch, rock and lead tones. I got rid of the kidney bean and went back to amps. BTW: I didnt buy a helix cuz I wont spend hours, weeks and days tinkering with my sound. I am a simpleton. I have played with Mesa Boogies, Boss etc. A few weeks ago I was searching online for music stuff and stumbled on Rich's site here and was blown away with the sound of the Michael Britt Pack. I thought to myself, if I can get 80% of Michael Britt's tones I would be a happy man. I stepped up and bought the new wireless podgo this time and downloaded the Michael Britt Podgo pack and the IRs. Today (5/26/23) I conducted a test with the podgo to: 1) focus rite to some studio monitors 2) then to my headphones direct from the pod. and 3) our last direct to the band PA system. Holy S**t, I was blown aways. I am so stoked. I can use about 80-90% of his tones and will tweak only a few based upon my set lists. I spent some dollars two years ago downloading presets from the line6 market place and most of them sounded horrible when I tried to use them live. Now I know the IRs make the difference. 1)Huge shout out and thank you to RICH for showing me the light and directing me to Michael Britt. Rich you provide a huge value here. Thank you! Of course, thank you to Michael Britt for building these real presets.. I am so excited!!!!!! I love playing direct with no amps. Now with a wireless podgo and a wireless in-ears...... I am free from cables.

Many thanks, glad you're still enjoying the vids! Yeah, you'll have to let me know how you find them - for me, they're waaaay above any of the stock presets. Partly because Mr Britt seems to be the best tweaker in the business, and secondly... the IRs! That seems to be key. I found the Pod Go fine before (but levels under my analog amp/drive pedals) but this pack gets it much closer in sounds and feel :)

Hi, thank you for posting this. I am or was getting ready to give up on this thing. I didn't like the overdrive sound on the Pod Go. The Clean sounds are okay, but the Gain and High Gain sounds awful and muddy. I will this Michael Britt pack a chance. I will let you all know.

I play mostly worship music at my church. I see a lot of other module choices within the MB presets that I wouldn't even consider using in a church environment. There are some that would work, the clean one, the ambient one, as 2 of them. I also noticed during your Video that the placement of them were different, some on the Amp, some on the Cab, and some before both. Why was that? Also I just bought this unit but not delivered yet, so I'm still a bit confused at what IR's are. I've had a BOSS ME-70 for the last 11 yrs, being replaced by this POD GO. THANKS!

Does it have drums and a looper and how do the tones compare to the Nux GM-400?
@RichWordsMusic
@RichWordsMusic Жыл бұрын
It has a looper, but no drum patterns/machine built in. I've not tried the NUX GM-400, but I have tried other NUX FX and they are excellent - definitely on a level with the Line 6 effects in my opinion. I recently also got the NUX Mighty Plug headphone amp and that's on a par with the Line 6 tones for me... and it has drum and backing track options.

As usual, rathr interesting. These things are amazing, compared to operating a small army of pedals. I've tried these things and I cannot get them anywhere near to sounding like Kevin Shield's xtraordinary wall of sound distortion, with his band My Bloody Valentine, try as I may. I've heard that he uses a row of distortion pedals both before and after the amp. Layr upon thick layer of distortion! I've also attempted to duplicate the beautiful ambient sounds of Vinni Reilly from the 'band' The Duritti Column... and failed! It seems like these 'magic boxes' can't really copy the real magic conjured up by real musical magicians.
@RichWordsMusic
@RichWordsMusic Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the Pod Go is a jack of all trades... but I'm not sure it can be a master of such tones. It is so flexible and versatile, but maybe just a little lacking in the tonal department. There's always a little compromise somewhere. Can you send me some links to the specific Shields/Reilly tones please? I'll see if I can get close :) I like the idea of a challenge like that!
@michaelk5507
@michaelk5507 Жыл бұрын
@@RichWordsMusic Well, I'd like to be able to do that, only I think it's probably easier for you to just look up The Durutti Column and My Bloody Valentine on KZbin. Vinni Reilly was 'kept alive' by the late, great, Tony Wilson who owned Factory Records, for years. It's probably more 'doable' than Kevin Shields' stuff! The 'Loveless' record is arguably their sonic masterpiece. Beautiful 'folk songs' washed in an ocean of distorted guitars. Jimmy Page used to talk about his 'guitar army', but Shields takes that idea much further out there. It's hard to think that 'Loveless' is now a couple of decades old.

@@michaelk5507 OK, I'll take a look! Was just wondering if there was a specific passage or song I could try and emulate. Excited to try listening to something that's new for me! I like folk, and I like distorted guitars... let's see how they mix :)
@michaelk5507
@michaelk5507 Жыл бұрын
@@RichWordsMusic My Bloody Valentine are arguably as influential a band as the Velvet Underground. Rumour has it that Kevin Shields used twelve distortion pedals in a chain! That's without getting into his reverbs and delays... phew!

I bought the Pod Go Wireless about 2 years ago. I disliked it so much that I bought a used Boss GT-8 to replace my old Boss GT-8 that the Pod Go was supposed to replace. The Pod Go has some great features that make it pretty cool. But if it sounds like shit, it's worthless to me. I'll try the Micheal Britt presets and see if they work for me. They sounded more amp like in your demo. For $15 I can't go wrong. Meanwhile, my GT-8 still sounds great. I wish I had stuck with Boss instead of Line 6.
