Since some of the resource packs that you showcased have PBR support, I think it's worth mentioning that you need to enable it separately in Complementary shaders, instead of integrated PBR. Integrated PBR uses simple algorithms to try making blocks glow and shine correctly and reflect light in the correct direction, but when a resource pack has PBR support, it means that the artist already provided that information about the blocks and it usually looks a lot better than what Complementary can generate

Thanks for featuring Roundista, just want to mention that not only the style aims to make the pixel's round but also Roundista is a fully LabPBR compliant resource pack, which means when paired with a LabPBR standard shader you can enable the fancy depth effects, reflections, etc.

The fact that Faithless isn't on this list is an actual crime /j But in all seriousness, Faithless is really good-- it's a vanilla friendly pack, actually leaning more into the stylized comicbook aspect of things without over-doing it, and staying really true to the Vanilla feeling despite it's name! As well, I think BDCraft resourcepacks fits this list too, the vanilla style one and the PureBDcraft versions respectively!

for people who want to keep vanilla textures but wish they had a bit more pizazz, i recommend the packs Simple Grass Flowers and Spring Flowers (on planet minecraft) they add variants to all types of grass blocks and flowers so that even a whole field of the same flowers doesn't all feel the same. plains and sunflower fields never looked so pretty ^^

Quick correction: Texture packs do not affect your FPS. Using an 8x8 texture pack will get you the same FPS as a 32x32 texture pack. You may see some very slight losses at the 64x64 level. Meaningful losses don't occur until you get to much higher packs, and no pack will make your FPS better.

Are you 100% sure on this? I tried the Lego resource pack and it cut my fps in half with the complementary shaders. I guess it could be caused by something else it's doing outside of just the texture pack.

@@Godmode_ON24 Advanced models kill FPS. If it's not using the default models for everything, your FPS will tank because usually non-default models = detailed models = laaaag

@ atleast on bedrock there are texture packs that remove particles and it helps fps, I think it removes the calculating part too, not sure abt java tho. Also there are textures packs that can make the min render distance less allowing you to render less stuff which = fps. Im doing to stop talking now tho bc i play bedrock and this is a java video lol

Nautilus 3D is my go-to texture pack. It was my first texture for Java aside from default obviously (i played Bedrock exclusively for a couple years when i first started playing the game), and I went away from it for a while, but i've come back to it and it's just such a good one.

have you heard of or tried the faithless resource pack, its the one i use, pretty much a revamped vanilla pack, changes things quite a bit, not everyones favourite but combine it with shaders, any shaders just mess about with settings and in my opinion it is beautiful

Download complimentary unbound, you get both unbound and reimagined in one which you can mix match both. Reimagined takes to try to look better but still as vanilla as it can, while unbound overhauls it entirely. (Reimagined will make water look nicer, but still keep the default texture and no 3d waves, as well as make clouds look round but not realistic clouds.) You can imagine unbound does the reverse of this.
