Honestly, it's uncertain wether it even makes profit sense. The Amazon has lost to this date approximately 20% of the original land. By the time we would reach such a milestone we may have vertical farming, synthetic meat or brazilian agricultural productivity would be so high it is more expensive to increase land. Also, human population will peak and our food demand will stall. What IS truly worrying is that the Amazon may have a tipping point where it can't sustain itself and starts to die off. And we may be reaching this point, but that is a matter for futher study still

Well because theres a balance in nature and every single extinct animal will cause a chain reaction because of it. And yeah we can START colonization but itd take way too long to get the necessary supplies in the mass quantity, and there will be no MORE trees. If we cut them all down and replant from seedlings well whats the point of anything being alive by the time they become habitable and if we replant big trees well there simply wont be enough for 50-60% of the rainforest, and yes salt water is drinkable but even then there still wont be enough water to supply that many of us.
