PLOT: The Imperial Forces -- under orders from cruel Darth Vader (David Prowse) -- hold Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) hostage, in their efforts to quell the rebellion against the Galactic Empire. I was 16 in 1977, and I saw it in the cinema as well. MULTIPLE TIMES.

I was 10 seeing this back then. As a kid yeah it was something but mostly for the robots and music. By the time they released it again w/ new footage etc. it was dull. Close Encounters though, that was a lasting film.

His powers increased dramatically. From not being able to get around a laser gate that only went across the road and nothing else to making others think whatever he wants........

I just noticed a bit of foreboding in the "Burning Jawas" scene: "then the droids would be in the hands of the empire". This perfectly sets up the tension in the next scene where that would have happened if not for the Jedi Mind Trick.

1:26 I'm SO glad George added that dinosaur walking across the scene, blocking the action. Before the SEs, I used to watch it and feel that something was missing...and, by Jove, George knew exactly what!

Oh I wish they'd taken a much more minimal approach with adding in CGI creatures. Embellishment that distracts is never a good thing.

A lot of the extra things, like the large tall creatures, were added into later versions, along with other enhancements.
