I made my first 3D games a few days ago. I don't see missing features to make advanced 3D stuff, but it does requires an insane amount of work. Mostly Blender being essential.

I think it's totally suited for beginners. Tools what might be missing for more advanced users but this will come with the asset store and devs can make their own

@@mrelipteach After my experience, one thing that seams perfectly suited for Godot in my opinion is HD 2D
@Mysda_11 ай бұрын
@Epic_Coding I don't think it's much different to other engines. But making a 3D character animated was a stupid amount of work that is mostly done in blender. Which by itself explains that I won't do 3D again alone. I also had to code 3D terrain with LOD by myself, which was nice to do.

@@Mysda_true tho the advantage that engines like unity or unreal have over godot is that there better suited for big scale games,visuals, a bigger community for making 3d games that and assets but that last one is irrelevant if you're already into doing 3d models
@Mysda_11 ай бұрын
@@memecoffee6287 I see it for Unreal with the tech behind rendering that is advanced but not with Unity anymore. It feels at the same point and with the same amount of freedom

I would take that with a grain of salt. What matters is performance in real projects. That being said, I'm always excited for a new version as they're constantly improving everything at a rapid pace

Im also working on a 3D game in Godot, having worked on unity before. It was not that hard to transition, as many concepts are the same. Mostly looking how a feature or workflow from Unity can be implemented in Godot. The realtime global illumination SDFGI in Godot is actually a really nice perk that I was missing in Unity. Especially when it an open World game where light baking is not an option. C# can also be used in Godot (I did not even touch their native script).

"It's not realistic" Gabe Newell addressed this, there's nothing in real life that is fun, we play games to have fun, not for realism

its nice seeing what can be made cuz i do get scared that the game im making might be too much for godot, but seeing this eases my mind. sometimes i forget that this game engine is pretty young compared to unity and unreal so its still doing pretty well despite this and i hope that just like blender, it improves a crap ton. at one point blender did not impress me with what animations you could make...but nowadays its like holy hell i love blender. i'm also making a game on godot, a surreal stealth game thats adapting a rushed webseries I made

Unity was known for some pretty ugly 3D visuals until things started to improve with the version 5 in 2015 (The Forest was an exceptionally great looking Unity 4.x game in 2014), so it seems Godot is one version number ahead :D Things are looking good for Godot at the moment. Let's hope the momentum keeps!

this will be unexpected, but I want to ask you, reading my comment, to help me. I took care of installing a linter for Godot and the Gdlint extension so that I could conveniently track problems right there in the native editor, but, unfortunately, despite the functionality of the linter when I enter a command in an external editor and confirm that it works, the gdlint window does not work can detect. it says "gdlint not found". has anyone encountered this?
