While a lot of these are janky as hell, the Mandate of Peace is actually a surprisingly good card that I had never heard of before. I didn't really get into Commander until fairly recently, like 2019 or thereabouts, so this is a fun thing to consider for any deck running White. Thanks, Prof!
@JuanFelipeCalle3 жыл бұрын
I thought so too. A usually smart play is to attack first, see if your opponent casts anything, then cast the rest of your stuff in the 2nd main phase. Mandate of Peace punishes that. Your opponent attacks, you cast it, and they can't cast anything after combat. You might have Time Walked them.

build tolsimir, friend to wolves. It's an amazing fight commander, and you can bring back banding as there are 2 wolves that have banding, and a reserve list card that makes 1/1 wolves with "bands with other wolves of the hunt" there's also the helm of chatzuk and baton of morale to give others banding. I like to use this with things that give my wolves death touch for exmaple, so that commander hits face, or opp loses a creature. Feed the pact and wolfbriar elemental are amazing generators of fight triggers, because tolsimir is a selesnya wolves tribal fight commander with incidental lifegain.

My favorite Jank is tied between two cards that interact with each other and one card by itself. The two cards are Warped Devotion and Worldpurge. Warped Devotion makes players discard a card every time something is bounced to their hand. Worldpurge bounces everything all players own (lands included) to their hand and makes them choose seven cards, then shuffle the rest into their library. After Worldpurge resolves and you go down to seven cards, Warped Devotion triggers for every card that was bounced, effectively making each player discard their hand if this was done late game. This pretty much restarts the game. The other card is Soulscour. Soulscour costs 7 generic and 3 white. It destroy all non artifact permanents, lands included. I run it in my mono white artifact deck. Was in an 8 player pod and I had over 15 mana with a Darksteel Juggernaught and Planar Portal out. Someone complained that the game was taking too long and so I portaled for Soulscour, cast it, and made everyone concede. It’s personally my favorite pet card in artifact decks.

My favorite Commander jank is my Syr Gwyn deck which focuses on getting out Bludgeon Brawl. The rule of thumb for lands in Commander is 40 lands, minus one for each two sources of ramp you have, and this deck has so much artifact ramp I only run 25 lands (all basics minus Command Tower and Rogue's Passage). Signets, diamonds, lockets, cluestones? We got em. I run Hedron Archive AND Sisay's Ring AND Ur-Golem's Eye. I ramp so hard that I added Ghirapur Orrery as a card draw engine because of how often I'd dump my hand. Then it's just a matter of getting out Syr Gwyn and maybe a hasty/evasive Knight accomplice, playing Bludgeon Brawl or pulling it and Spectra Ward with Plea for Guidance, and punching someone to death with a fist full of mana rocks. Bonus points if you use Liquimetal Torque to turn Bludgeon Brawl into an artifact, equip it, and punch them in the face with the concept of punching them in the face. You can put the whole thing together for less than the price of a precon, and it's absolutely worth it.

The most fun I have in deckbuilding is usually to pick up that weird uncommon or janky rare from sets like Mirage, Tempest, the Dark and see what comes out of it. Usually nothing, but still... When I saw Adamaro, I immediately thought of another card that I love to run to punish greedy opponents that love to draw a lot of card, namely Multani, Maro Sorcerer: it's an Urza block card so it's not as cheap, but still very affordable, especially a played one.

For those intrigued by Memoricide, Sadistic Sacrament is a similar card that is probably a little better suited to Commander (though its {B}{B}{B} cost might prove more difficult for decks outside of mono-black). For three black mana, you can search your target's library (though not hand or graveyard) for any three cards and exile them. This also gets around having to name a card beforehand against decks you aren't familiar with (though you might not recognize the key cards to exile, depending on the deck). And you can kick the spell for a ridiculous {7} to exile 15 cards instead. I haven't run it in a long time, but it can be pretty debilitating against combo-oriented decks (or any deck if you pay the Kicker cost). It's a little more expensive than Memoricide ($2.99 on Card Kingdom at the moment), but it might be worth a look.

Journeyer's kite is a fun one. If you draw a land, keep on curve; if you miss, just spend your entire early-game turn searching up a drop to keep from falling behind lol Sun droplet is a great way to keep your head above water in a 4-player game. It's also fantastic when paired with above kite, since it buys you a ton of time against chipping weenies lol the amount of games I copied the droplet to have 3 or 4 in play at once is delightful =D Another recommendation would be infiltrator's lens. Have a creature with a juicy on-hit effect, but people keep blocking your hopes and dreams? This is the solution you've been looking for! Hand it off to something annoying, like a blue creature that can swap it's power and toughness at the drop of a hat, and really force them to take their fate in their hands lol I'd say it works best on things like the absurdly THICC crab leviathan Charix, or infect creatures, since those are *spooooooky*

Hum of the Radix, huh, yeah, not one I know...not sure I want to get to know it. Aether Rift, looks like great dumb fun! My favorite jank for Commander is that of Surgical Extraction. For a single black phyrexian mana, you can choose target card in their graveyard and exile all cards from their hand and library with the same name as that card. Only caviat being is that it can't be a basic land.

I love TCC loves Merfolk. I especially love when he points it out and gets giddy about it

Sandwurm convergence is one of my favorite jank cards ever. 8 mana for an enchantment, flying creatures can’t attack you or planeswalkers you control. End of your turn, make a 5/5 wurm

Yeah, that Mandate of Peace card looks interesting in White decks interested more in the 'opponent's can't cast spells' part, to safely combo, not sure anyone will pay 1W for the fog part, there are many White fogs, but a good Silence effect is always nice.

Mandate of Peace is really cool! Might throw that one into my Kyler deck as a cool fog / blowout protection from said Cyc Rift, Aetherize, Settle the Wreckage, Sudden Spoiling and numerous other cards in my meta.

My favorite jank card is Farsight Mask from original mirrodin. I put it in most of my jank decks because it draws a decent amount of cards while functioning as a pseudo-ghostly prison. If it's only a few points of damage, people will often send the damage somewhere else so I don't draw more cards. Jank at its finest!

Lazotep Plating, a.k.a. Blue Heroic Intervention, has got to be one of my favorite slept-on commons in the game. I'm also somewhat fond of Minion's Return and Bolt Bend (the latter especially now that Deflecting Swat is just as expensive as Fierce Guardianship) as ways to inexpensively guard against commander assassination. Speaking of commander assassination, though it wasn't even a highlight of the video, Bloodfire Infusion looks hilarious. I'm a strong believer that, if you can't _protect_ your commander, at least you can lace it with dynamite. 😈 For my Korvold deck specifically (or really anything that runs an Aristocrat package with red access), Chandra Acolyte of Flame is my secret ace in the hole. For just 3 mana, you can guarantee not one, but _two_ permanent sacrifices a turn by doing nothing but popping off her Elemental token generation and ending the turn, sacrificing both tokens at the End Step. Not bad for $0.80.

Similar to Cosi's Trickster, Psychogenic Probe deals 2 damage to a player whenever they shuffle their library for any reason. This isn't amazing, but if you are in a red deck looking to slam damage consistently, that could really add up! Especially if you are running Torbran ;) And best of all, it's only 27 cents! Totally in line with the video

My favorite is Delaying Shield. Most people know about Solemnity and how it Pillow Forts with Phyrexian Unlife and Decree of Silence, but with Delaying Shield your Solemnity OR Unlife become pillow forts as well!

Quintorius is my favorite Janky commander. Running a theme of discard, flashback, gravehand and spirits is real fun

I need Cosi's Trickster for my Toxrill deck. I'm running Infernal Genesis and have a sub theme of fatesealing. One of my favorite ways to do this is Psychic Surgery so I have a lot of ways to make my opponents shuffel their decks (all of my graveyard hate just shuffles it back into the deck, etc...)

when i first started EDH, i had Hum of the Radix and Aether Rift in my Naya deck. Discarding stuff like Darksteel Colossus (yes this was before Blightsteel) was always a good time

Fave Jank piece: Planar Guide a 1/1 for W, with the ability to pay 3W, sac guide and blink all your creatures. I use it in reaper king to blink all my scarecrows and blow up a ton of permanents

Knowledge Pool, Possibility Storm, Share the Spoils, Valakut Awakening: All of these are fun to mess up the way the table plays while also giving everyone a new way to play. And they're all (or mostly?) cheap.

I actually ran an Adamaro commander deck years ago that got Adamaro out with some buff or evasion and then went the mass land destruction route. It was surprisingly decent.

Hunted Wumpus in Esix, Fractal Bloom! It’s how you enable your own copy engine when your opponents have nothing interesting out. Then pop your Snake Basket and go to town!

I use memoricide as a silver bullet in a number of decks. Playing a mill deck and up against eldrazi.. remove those shuffle Titans before they can put a stop to your plans. Going up against a known combo deck? Good luck finding your combo piece before I do. The added bonus of hosing apostle/rat/petitioner decks is icing on the cake.
