I recently lost my cat and my dog in a car crash... They were my family and best friend for 14 years (my cat came 2 years later than my dog). I can't get over the fact that they are gone, and I don't think I will be able to rescue another one from the shelter. At least not now or in the foreseeable future... In the meantime, watching Dodo is healing my broken heart... :')

It does help eventually. I just lost my old man kitty of 18 years. I have three younger ones, but I still miss the grumpy old man. I would like to get another senior kitty, but it wouldn't be fair to the others. I love the Dodo too!😹😹😹

My cats are always in the Christmas spirit. The tree makes a great place to hide (and nap). The ornaments are fun to bat around. Wreaths provide enjoyable scratching. And while presents are nice, the WRAPPING paper makes for hours of play time!

I can relate. My dog loves Hanukkah. Whenever we light the candles, he sits and watches with a huge smile on his face. Sometimes, he’ll whine a little, like he’s trying to sing along with us. We dance to one of the songs, and he comes rushing into us trying to dance with us as well.

My other cats in my life (Caramel, Cheerio, Kiwi and Moose) never went into the tree. They all just liked curling up or loafing under the lights. BUUUUUTTTTT, my two rescue kittens, Milo and Jelli Bellie love climbing! I put the tree out in November so they could get used to it and by the time December rolled around, they pretty much stayed off it. Unit the lights went up. 4 bulbs on the ground, only 1/4 of the tree lit. I know have switched to the LED lights since the bulbs are clipped in and putting them up.Hope is they will not do as much damage.

This reminds me of the time my hubby and I put up the tree... then opened the door for our 7 cats to come see. Usually, when anything new was about, they'd be very cautious and slow... sniffing, etc. But one of our fur babies ran to the trunk and crawled 3/4 to the top and perched on a branch, lightning fast... like she'd rehearsed it! 😻

Our dog chews the packages open…mostly just corners. Then he leaves that package alone and starts on another. Cats don’t bother the tree. One of our cats, Cash, got into a tree when she was very young, we said no and she didn’t do it the next year or thereafter. These cats are adorable.

Had to rescue one of my cats when i was a kid from the Christmas tree as he got stuck in it. Thank goodness it was a fake tree and was easy to dismantle. The next year we got a smaller one but again the cats always kept us on our toes. Wouldn't be Christmas without the cats getting into the tree

Hahaha my brother just adopted a 3 month old kitten, he also has a Chihuahua which it has been an adjustment for them to live together. So, he put up his Christmas tree and the kitten kept climbing in it and knocking it over, so he decided it was too much of a battle and put it away. He says she is very mischievous and still is very curious 😂

Last year, our cat, Pudding, was obsessed with our medium-sized Christmas tree. He batted me away if I tried to get too close. Then, on Christmas morning, he jumped, swiped at me too fast and hard, and got tangled in the Christmas tree's lights! It took us 10 minutes to untangle and free him. He never went near that tree again and stayed away from it when we put it up for this year. To him, he was betrayed by his true love. LOL

FYI if you put a plant hook in the ceiling and use strong green twine doubled or tripled... fold it in half and put the loop on the ceiling hook then wrap each side of the twine around the pole/trunk of the Christmas tree all the way down to the bottom of the tree the cats will not be able to knock the tree over also tie ornaments on securely with the same green twine ....the cats can enjoy the tree without breaking stuff. My friend does a Cat Christmas Tree with cat nip toys and pompoms using my ceiling hook method!

I used to have to have two hooks in the walls in a corner of our living room, one hook on each side of the tree, and I had to wrap a rope around the tree and tie it to the hooks so my cats did not get over. So the tree went in the same Corner every single year so I could hook it to the wall lol

It's just occurred to me that this will be the first Christmas I won't be woken by my orange dummy of a cat crying for his breakfast treat, he's been my friend for 16 nearly 17 years, we lost him back in may, heart failure, I couldn't stay in the room when we had to put him down, I was distraught for weeks, and I still don't feel like Im able to open my heart to a new whiskered friend despite my family insisting I do to help heal my heart
