This was great. We should absolutely call false teachers out and to repentance. I love that you also pointed out the danger of killing fellowship over secondary and tertiary issues. The first one that comes to mind here lately is the Begg controversy (I kinda think that’s who you had in mind too). Every person has called him out and, more than that, basically said they no longer would recommend him to anyone. But he’s been such an inspiration for years. He’s rock solid on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, salvation by grace through faith in Christ. We can’t discount that and I certainly don’t believe we ought to disfellowship him. Great video.

The entire point of disfellowship is to bring people to repentance. It's the ultimate sanction of the church for deeply held heresy; people who will not submit to their church's discipline. So not using it all and jumping directly to it are both dangerous.

Although it's not a bad idea to expose false prophets (especially those in the Charismatic potpourri) but we as born again Christians shouldn't waste too much time on it (like Justin Peters does). Any true follower of Christ should be able to exercise proper discernment and be able to spot a wolf in sheep's clothing just by simply reading God's Word. We know from Paul's letters (to Timothy, Titus, Corinthians, Galatians, etc) that the apostle frequently had to combat preachers of error that had infiltrated the Christian churches even in those days. Not only did Paul have much to say in his writings but John (particularly 1st-John), Peter (particularly 2nd-Peter), Jude, and especially our Lord Jesus Christ had plenty to say on this matter. Just read your Bibles prayerfully and the Holy Spirit WILL guide you in the right direction.

Indeed, so many false doctrines. It is not unlike the political range of beliefs. The depravity does not exist in a single place. The father of lies works in many places. Ecclesiates 7:29 says, "Truly, this only I have found: That God made man upright, But they have sought out many schemes.” King Solomon, the wisest man that will ever live, showed us that even though we were made perfect, innocent, our hearts devise evil. Isaiah 7:15-16, "Curds and honey He shall eat, that He may know to refuse the evil and choose the good. For before the Child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land that you dread will be forsaken by both her kings." To be born innocent, be properly raised and make a free will choice for good over evil? False doctrines muddy this up. Satan revels in confusion. He's the master of controlled opposition. He'll give you two opposing views and attempt to convince the hearer to choose one or the other; He wins either way if that happens. We need the Holy Spirit. He will lead us to all Truth. As God's Word says, "Let God be true and every man, a liar." That scripture must hold true, regardless of who it is. Myself? The pope? A pastor? The "prince" of pastors? Choose the Prince of Peace.

So, what I heard in that clip was: "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." 2 Corinthians 5.21 Understandably the connotation of the verbiage used in the clip can lead one to suspect the teacher's understanding of this passage. - - as an aside, a related verse (though indirect) is Hebrews 4.15 (For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things just as we are, yet without sin.) - - A higher standard is held for teachers... we know this from the scripture... but even Mr. Friel has spoken things that I've done a double take on and had to research to clarify and understand some of his takes to carry with them his personal opinions. Correction in love before a rebuke has always been the Lord's way. We should follow that. Because the same way we deal with these things is the way we will be dealt with. As to questionable teachings, be like the Bereans: Chew the meat and spit out the bones from teachers of the word that seem suspect. For Instance: Someone who was dealing with porn may have needed to understand that Jesus dealt with the same thing... but He conquered it and when he 'became' that sin on the cross... it was atoned for forever. This aligns with the typology of the sacrificial lamb as being Christ. In Lev 4.27-33 A penitent would lay their hand on the head of a worthy sacrificial 'sin offering' animal and that animal symbolically 'became' the sin of that person which was destroyed in fire outside the camp and the blood which cleansed and covered that sin was poured out and it's fat burned. God came to earth to live a perfect life, take upon himself the sin of the world (in so doing becoming sin symbolically as the lamb) and die as the perfect sacrifice so that a new covenant might be established. This is what I glean from that verse 2nd Cor 5.21... and hope it was the heart of the message (that unfortunately I haven't heard in full) that was preached from that individual. Cheers!

The only issue I see with this presentation is they are addressing the low hanging fruit only. Sadly, these teachers are obvious to those not deceived, however, what about the teachers that are less obvious? What about those teachers that currently flirt with the narratives in the culture? What about those teachers that give way to worldly ideologies that are harder to spot? Those that keep, -Divide the church through unending racial "discussion"? -Keep the rebellion of Eve alive through feminism by not keeping clear lines between the responsibilities of the sexes in the church and in the home? -Those that bowed to Caeser and not Christ by denying the government power to command their flock and letting the government have inappropriate authority? The prosperity people are easy to pick on, so why not go after things that were doctrinally unsound over the last 4 years? To me that is way more relevant than hitting on low hanging fruit.

I'm only disappointed that you didn't show more of the false teachings. Love the one woman trying to say that accepting Jesus was "works".. but what about John 6:29:"Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the WORK of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent." Prosperity Gospels (name it, claim it" )have been around since the '80's, however, the one that gets me is that it seems that now we only see a Savior, not Sin being preached at the same time. Very alarming!

The devil's lies are almost always mostly true, with just a little falseness. This same trait makes the most dangerous false teachers - they'll say a lot of right things, but also include a little falseness. "A little leaven ruins the whole lump."

I agree that Spurgeon was a solid teacher of the WORD. HOWEVER, instead of always looking toward teachers of the past we need to look to JESUS amd HIS example, HIS WORD first and foremost..everytime. People are only people..sinful people. JESUS is and was the ONLY sinless human to ever live..and HE is our SAVIOR.

Bishop Keith Butler in Detroit teaches a false doctrine that says, " It wasn't enough for Jesus to die on the cross; he had to do more ". Bishop Keith Butler in Detroit preaches that Jesus' soul was snatched off the cross as soon as he died by the devil and taken to the "pit of hell" to be tortured for 3 days in order for us to be forgiven . Bishop Keith Butler in Detroit is a false teacher and very good friends of other false teachers like Kenneth Copeland and Jesse Duplantis !!!

You can't just plop up Spurgeon (who I love) next to teachers/preachers in a montage without explaining doctrinally 1. What you are saying 2. What they are saying differently 3. Where the bible confirms you vs. them.

These ‘leaders’ are probably not even Christians at all! So many modern evangelicals are really gullible and fall for all this nonsense. Also it has to be said that so many people who sit in evangelical churches are not Christians either and are not really saved, but have been persuaded by emotional appeals to think that they are. Very sad!

I am having a hard time finding a Biblically sound church around here, the ones I do find have women pastors, flashing lights for music? WHEN THEY DON'T EVEN USE THE BIBLE, TO PREACH REAL TRUTH HOW WE ARE TO LIVE, BE THERE FOR EACH OTHER

Use discernment. Read your Bible for yourself and compare it against teachers. False teachers: Benny Hinn, Bethel, Hillsong, Elevation, bunch of them. I'd check Shai Linne's song "False Teachers" for a good start.
