@@lucyjrobyn The cutscence where Chief gives the covenant back their bomb was originally going to be a mission where you would board the covenenant ship and do a warthog run across the ship to give them back their bomb. Halo 2 had the most content cut of any Bungie era Halo game as they were very much over ambitious for this game. The devs at the time considered it a bit of a failure but we all love it anyway.
@Lang7Ай бұрын
@@gravemind6536 If you look at the original concept for H2 and what was cut, it's mindboggling. Consider that the version we got in 2004 was a heavily-edited halfway house yet was still MILES ahead of the every other console FPS at the time. Had they not lost the extra year trying to get the new engine working, and stuck with BLAM, I can't even fathom how good it could've been. A very important note about this game, you can swap weapons with the Marines. In later missions when I have low ammo on a power weapon like a rocket launcher or sniper rifle, I'll give it to them. As long as there is one shot left, they can use it and have infinite ammo. Just be careful, they're not as careful as you would be. And getting a marine with a rocket launcher in the passenger seat of a warthog is an OP move

I'm sure I'm not the only one that has mentioned this in the comments. The hype around this release and even more so for Halo 3 was unlike anything in gaming at the time. Lines of hundreds of people wrapping around the outside of game shops with everyone nerding out and losing their shit. It was glorious. The best part is that these games actually delivered on their promises and then some. You should check out the making of the first 3 games and the E3 reveals. The devs absolutely broke their backs to make these games. One of the devs was so obsessed with his work he actually stopped showering and slept at the office a bunch. The rest of the team had to surround his work space with air fresheners. It's fucking vile but also hilarious and kinda awesome.

The music is almost perfect. One of those games that has stood the test of time.

@jordanclark4635Ай бұрын
Started with CE around 2002-2003 and due to some iffy at times balancing (chief being made of paper mache on higher difficulties) I think I still prefer CE’s gameplay for being simple, groundbreaking but refined BUT Halo 2 is such a step in story depth and brings other refinements to the formula, more weapons to the sandbox, and the anniversary is beautiful to the point of disbelief: especially baring in mind it’s now as old as the original was when it was released. 2004-2014-2024. Edit: should probably add halo was one of my fondest memories growing up, I’m 27 now so was only 7 when the original game released, and me and my brother played every game up until 3 together, first time always together, even had matching halo 3 legendary editions and chief helmets, even if we’re not on speaking terms anymore, they’re a pleasant reminder for when he was just an innocent kid Always brings me joy to see people enjoying the series as a result

Played the hell out of Halo 2 on Xbox live back then, me and my bro were like the first kids in school playing Xbox live back in late 2005. Super jumps, glitches, first time ever witnessing mods. Halo 2. Also, early KZbin was coming around at that time. The good ol days they say lol. System link parties with my bro and friends from school for Halo CE and Halo 2. I love watching people play HALO for the first time. I watched a lot, and always loved their reaction in 343 Guity Spark when they first encountered the Flood. Of course the same goes for you, I will support you all the way in this great journey. 💚💚💚💚 Through your first walkthrough of Halo 1, I think you will enjoy Covenant weapons more after reading this advice from me because I realize you use AR throughout the game, thing may get boring, this is something that will be throughout the Halo series and after playing Halo 1 I think you are ready: -Covenant weapons (or any plasma weapons) deal really good damage for Elite shield. (Because you play in new graphics, you may not realize Elite has energy shield like Master Chief in CE). So, Plasma for Shield, Human weapon for meat. -Weapons will be divided into mainly two types: normal and headshot, you will recognize and distinguish them throughout the game, a headshot can kill the enemy immediately. Even with Flood, as long as you find their headshot point. Hopefully with these two things, you will be able to take full advantage of the weapons in the series and find more fun while playing, use all the weapons of Covenant

Ah yes Reach. The Covenant fleet that went there was in the hundreds. It seems odd to them that only 13 Covenant ships came to Earth. The Covenant accidentally stumbled into the largest human fleet they have ever seen that numbers in the hundreds. The Covenant is so outnumbered here. My head cannon is that the human fleet at Earth is over 800 ships. Would be cool if that is actually the number. Also those stations are named after the cities they are over. So the Athens is above Athens Greece, Malta is above Malta Island, and the Cairo is above Cairo Egypt. I think the book Halo First Strike explains the events between Halo CE and 2 it explains how everyone that survived got back to Earth.

The Halo 2 battle rifle is one of the best Halo guns. Try these advanced maneuvers. The BXR: With a full magazine, you melee then press X (reload) to cancel the animation, allowing you to shoot immediately. Since one melee drops shields in PvP and BR can get headshots, BXR was a near instakill in PvP (also largely player banned). You can also BXB, rapidly melee attacking until shield drops on elites and then finish them with a headshot. Another fun thing is the Hawk Swoop. due to the way the game is coded, so long as your reticule passes over a target's head at some point during the burst fire, it will register a head shot, allowing you to kill multiple enemies in one burst. Due to auto-aim/bullet magnetism, you don't even need to get your crosshairs directly on the head. You can also do this somewhat with the sniper rifle.

The armor Master Chief used in Halo CE has an active service of one year before a new model came out, the CE armor was the Mark V and the Halo 2 armor is the Mark VI. Master Chief used the Mark V for a couple of months and never had a problem with it, then he was stranded in a Halo and then in outer space for a few days and practically destroyed the Mark V. And then, a couple days after he received the Mark VI he almost destroyed it in the events between Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Re: Firing weapons in space: Simple answer yes you can fire a gun in space, at least once. Gunpowder contains its own oxidizers, being in an atmosphere is not needed. Space is to cold for conventional lubricants > glue. The 'auto' feature works on springs and captured gasses... in a vacuum (Beyond my level of physics knowledge). The last problem is over heating, as there is no air to carry away heat a gun would just get hotter and hotter as it is fired. Despite all the flash freezing in Science Fiction/Hollywood - it would take a human body 12-26 hours to freeze solid - Now you know why there was no Commander Shepard ice confetti all over her 'landing site' at the beginning of ME2.) All that said, Master Chief is taking an already warmed up gun into space for just a brief time and is keeping it in use. And since they probably expect their marines and Spartans 'Master Chiefs' to fight in space from time to time, their guns are probably already hand waved... I mean manufactured to work in space. 😆

For now, all you need to know is that, as the name 'Prophet' and the terminology they use implies, it is a group following a religion based on warped knowledge of the Forerunners. You'll figure out the rest as you play If you're talking about the guy in yellow, yes, that's an Elite. This guy's name in Thel'Vadam. He's important. The title Arbiter shouldn't really have been shown just yet, he gets it a bit later The gorilla dudes are Brutes.

In the books it explains how by Johnson survived. Something to do with him using a crate of plasma grenades to hold off the covenant in one battle and has been exposed to a certain dose of radiation that made him immune to flood infection. In fact when Chief first sees Johnson alive, he suspects he’s been infected and proceeds to hold a gun against his head.

But how did he survive the explosion?

They said they only had Chief say lines that they knew the player would be thinking already. I'd say they did a pretty good job at predicting our thoughts haha

Aircraft and Artillery are all "Push to Go Down, Pull to Go Up." Those are the Inverted Controls. I don't know how anyone can fight and fly with their sticks set to Normal.

Halo 1 had the best single player combat balancing. I cant get too mad at Halo 2, afterall you can't improve perfection. I played tons of lan party games on halo 1 until the sequel came out multiplayer is where Halo 2 really shines. There are many unfortunate choices with halo 2 and onwards, but this game has one if the most exciting moments in the franchise, if you play the games in order.

Also if you haven't or don't plan to do it, there's an extra cutscene on Combat Evolved if you beat it on Legendary.

I think I might attempt it as part of a charity stream later in the year 😊
