I discovered this channel with the Baldur's Gate 3 one-shot and I fell in love with Mark's DMing and then with the cast. I don't have the time to catch up on the previous campaigns, but be sure I'm gonna follow this one to the end ! Also, I love the fact that Mark takes from other systems as inspiration for homebrew rules that bring more to the narrative with the travel rules, the Devil's Bargain and the crucible dice. Keep up the great entertainment !
@library295211 ай бұрын
@LordCafeine You might already be doing this, but just in case. If you want to see more of Mark (and some of the others) DMing, it's worth checking out their short campaigns and one shots. Lots of fun, without the heftier commitment of their main campaigns. You'll also see prototypes of some of the homebrew rules Mark uses in Altheya: The Dragon Empire, it's quite neat to see them evolve. I'd recommend Rogue's Gambit (12 eps) for sheer chaotic heist shenanigans in Waterdeep, and the Lord of the Rings (2 eps) if you're a Tolkein lover. They've done a lot of one shots but some of my favs so far are; Dungeon of the Mad Mark! (a meat grinder dungeon escape, which is a good intro to various characters that the cast play), Darkest Before Dawn (Kim DMs various horror one shots), and Purs of Strahd (a cute 1980s small town investigation with some scooby-doo & stranger things vibes).🐈⬛

So if Ophelia's parents provided livestock for the Haus of Blood, does that mean they WORKED??? Or did they only supervise a bunch of Percivals? Or is she like the child of a peasant who was able to move up to no longer have to work and just doesn't know that only aristocrats are "favored by the Grey Father" to have a life of luxury and all the others work during their lives and after their deaths? I want to know more about this culture and what is considered work vs hobby, like sewing is certainly work and can be terribly hard if you are in a sweatshop or even in a situation where you are just a seamstress cutting and sewing all day or merely mending clothes all day, but if you love creating beautiful clothing and seeing it on people it may feel like creating art. There are things that the living dead could certainly do with orders, but I don't see how they could design new creations of art or clothing or scientific discovery which can all be fulfilling but require a lot of work and training to do.

Matt's DMing is on another level this season. First the Crucible and then Zantheus' subclass RP pick about his flaw. Love it! I think these are fun ways to keep things fresh for experienced players. Zantheus and Ophelia's conversation was also fantastic. The tension, the subtle manipulation by Zantheus (which I love!! He's so shifty about his past and I am here to see how that develops), Ophelia hearing his heartbeat and I think she was practically shaking from the hunger. Great roleplay.

I feel like Daisy is very much inspired by The Stormlight Archives books. I mean, a red haired girl that likes to draw and has a bond with a being that grants her power and is slowing recovering his memory because of the bond? That is literraly a Knight and Spren pact. And a "Radiant" blade to top it off.

The last episode Mark said he didnt only have to use the fate dice negatively against the players and while i think thats good to stop a player vs DM mentality I don't that's how they should be used, especially with the flavour of the system. So I'm slightly confused about the split... are any of the High Rollers no longer Yogscast members? Or is it more of a same staff, separate finances/operations deal?
@d36class11 ай бұрын
From my understanding, the only people who are part of a Yogs is Kim, Trott, and Tom. Mark was a "content creator" like Trott and Kim but I assume his content is only HR which means he has left the Yogs officially. Tom is an editor, and then Kim and Trott remain as content creators for the yogs I think all it means is Yogs no longer get any cut from HR and HR gets no aid (hosting HR streams, finance) from Yogs

This is probably the wrong place to post this but whatever, I'm so fascinated by the different trajectories of roosterteeth and the yogs. The americans centralised and grew and competed while the yogscast seems to be spreading out into a larger and looser connection of friendships that spans half the content creators in england. My favourite empire in history is the british empire, because you can tell a man's-(archaic, gender neutral) quality by the way they die, and when the time came the british let everything go instead of trying to cling on in an endless series of civil wars to reclaim the fallen glory. When rooster teeths budget got tight it imploded but I don't see the yogscast leaving a trail of destruction even if it goes broke tomorrow, anyway I guess I'm in a wierd mood but this is my Contemplation on Death and Glory.
