I found a very pregnant dog in an open field and it was over 110 degrees out. I couldn't just let her go. I got her inside my truck, took her home gave her food and water, and called vets or no-kill shelters to see if they would take her in. One very close to me took her in. The next day, I learned she had given birth to 8 puppies, but because I already had four dogs, I couldn't take any home. I also learned they would all be going to a no-kill shelter until they were adopted. Bless the people who save these beautiful creatures.

Breaks my heart to see all these beautiful dogs looking for a home. I’ve had a dog since I was a little kid and wouldn’t want to be without one. I’m 75 now and still love them just as much. To see a dog being dropped off at a shelter gets to me. Why would anyone do that? I suppose there could be an] honest reason for a few but many people will drop them off because they’re too much trouble. You will never find a better friend or more loyal friend than a dog. Pray these dogs find a home soon. God bless the people that work at these shelters and volunteer.

at least these dogs have a chance, most healthy unwanted dogs are taken to so called caring vets who destroy them or get taken to in the U.K the RSPCA.... 60% are put down despite having no health problems. The truth about how many dogs and cats are put down would shock everyone

@richardrybarczyk1143 Жыл бұрын
@@williwipfel6 …….I know puppies are cute and cuddly but when you see the number of dogs who need a home it’s hard for me to justify getting a puppy. We have rescued a number of dogs and they were great pets. Bringing a new dog into a home takes a little patience, they’ve spent some time in a shelter and can be fearful or sad. We would give them some time to adjust to us and our routine and they turned out to be great companions. Have a great day.

@@jacqueslee2592 True, and some people think oh I'll get a pet out of the shelter, and then reality hits and its like oh shit I can't take care of this pet I don't have the money, back to the shelter you go. dog are amazing creatures they really do come to love us and depend on us, they never judge us and they become part of our families, they think the family is there pack, which is the same thing to a dog, and every dog studies there owner intensely and learns all the moods of the owner, they come to understand us and accept us as we are, every dog deserves a good home and it's heart breaking to see a mistreated dogs, who just wants to fit in, and a predictable routine they can depend on with occasional surprises, dogs love predictable routines like clock work, they know when it's walkie, walkie time and feeding time and love the predictability of it, although they need surprises too. dogs really do come to love us and know all our moods because they study us and learn a lot about us, look at carer dogs who help there owners, they even try to comfort us when we are sad, that proves they are family, dogs are Nobel creatures who deserve all the love we can give them, because they give it back, but just like people dogs have characters good and bad personalities, my dog is a real gem, he's a very low maintenance dog, i never have to scold him about anything, although i put a lot of effort into satisfying his basic needs, he gets a walk in the morning and one at knight, along with games and toys, he's a herding dog and they need constant exercise and stimulation or they get bored and frustrated if they dont get to burn off excess energy, he has his own little remote controlled electric high speed buggy he chases around to burn off energy, along with many other games we have developed together, in this way i have a well behaved well balanced dog who's needs are met, i never have him on a lead, he just follows me on the bike around the park and bike track without a lead, and he crosses the street when i do, i have come to trust him off lead, he's been doing it for 9 years so far, if you can find out what the dogs special needs are and satisfy them you will have a well behaved well balanced dog, my dog breed needs lots of exercise and mental stimulation, they have so much excess energy they use to round up sheep naturally, so i provide him with an electric sheep the remote controlled buggy he chases around trying to round it up, if your dog plays up them probably some his particular needs are not being met, but each dog on top the specific breeds needs probably has it's own quirks and it is wise to pay attention to learn what those needs can be, it pays off !!!

If anyone is reading and thinking of adopting, please, PLEASE, as Nike would say: JUST DO IT! I guarantee it will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life! If you see a dog who is simply terrified of everyone and everything, don't let that stop you. It depends on if you have the time and patience but both of my rescues came from abused pasts, and one was so severely abused that for the 1st week if my foot ever came near her she would just shrivel up, shaking, and usually even pee herself she was so sure a brutal kick was coming. (Yes, I did ask for any info on the original owner and was told she was brought in as a stray. Maybe that is a good thing, if I had the address....well, let's just not go down that path) Anyway, I am no expert but I am happy to share what worked for me. My first dog is Cannoli,, a Dachsund/Chihuaha mix. She was definitely shy and scared, and for like the first week and a half I just figured her tail was broken and didn't wag. I live in a double wide mobile home and to prepare for a dog I built a dog run on one side (fully sheltered from the Az sun) and it is 50 feet long and 5 feet wide. I also screened in my front porch and both sliding door and front door have doggy doors. So, when we first got home, she was way too frightened to come inside. I just sat with her, occasionally petting SUPER gently, and nonstop talking softly to her. I dunno if dogs can understand us but I kept saying "babygirl, I promise you that from this day on, your life will be safe, always fed, plenty of toys, plenty of love, and joy, and no pain ever again. I promise you that!" It took about 2 hours but she finally climbed the 3 steps into the house. I took her leash off and (I had already dogproofed the entire house) so I just sat in my recliner, pretty much ignoring her. It was my way of letting her understand that this was now her house, and she was allowed in any room, on any furniture, and on every bed. It was so cool, she would start to walk down the hallway, and keep looking back, waiting to see if she was in any trouble. I just kept saying "You're ok, Babygirl, it's ok" This process went on the rest of the day, and she still steered clear of me. She slowly, over the next week, started to come up and get pets and scratches, but still, zero tail wags. At night she would sleep on my bedroom floor, in a doggy bed in the corner. Eventually she would stay by my side all day. If I am at my computer desk, she has another doggy bed underneath she lays in. (It is a big L shaped desk, so plenty of corner room for her) She has a choice of 7 doggy beds, and ten special doggys blankets, throughout the house and outside, because her first day I could tell she loves them both. after about the 2nd week, her shell was gone! I still remember the first time she walked up to me with her tail wagging. I was soooooo happy! It got more and more crazy day after day. You know how some dogs their whole butt moves when they wag their tail? Well Cannoli is now so happy, I swear, her whole back half of her body dances back and forth! her hind legs actually slide back and forth as her entire back end wags with her tail. It still brings tears of joy to my eyes. She sleeps in the bed with me and she loves it under the covers! Our neighbors love my dogs so much that they are constantly coming to the front porch and asking if they can give them treats...these are non dog owners who actually buy doggy treats and toys at the store to give to my babygirls! Yes, I have a 2nd adoption, Gracie, and her story is so much more severe and it took so much more patience but Cannoli was so amazing at how she just sensed Gracie was a special case and she treated her new sister with kid gloves! That's another story for another day though :) Oh, also my thing is, when I first get them, I can't think of any way to let them know they are doing something wrong that won't freak them out, even just a stern voice brought shakes and pee from them. So, be prepared to just let them do anything and everything the first few weeks, and you just have to clean up saying "Soon she will feel safe and then I can make her go lay in her kennel when she does wrong" Again, please consider adopting that dog that nobody else wants because they are so scared. If you have the time that is, it should be an all day and all night experience at least the first week or so.
