I would love for them to watch Gintama but it’s way too long for them to even enjoy. The way Gintama works is that it has Serious arcs which are AMAZING and have Top Tier writing but it goes back to a bunch of extremely random episodes that feel pointless and out of place and it feels like every episode is a filler but the crazy thing is they’re going to have to watch all those episodes because it’s canon to the storyline and are going to have characters that show up at the last arc. And then it switches from those random Episodes back to the main storyline which is the serious arcs. And then when the Arc is finished it goes back to a whole bunch of 10-20 random episodes for pure comedy and then it goes back to the main storyline again. And like I said every Random Pointless episode is canon to the main storyline😂 I would never recommend Gintama unless you have the patience to sit through random comedy. Because that’s the Whole Purpose of Gintama. It’s a Really Well Written Anime with Pointless Random Comedy on the side

The comedy isn't pointless or random though, gintama was always a comedy anime to start with so none of it is random or out of place lmao. And to be honest on your last sentence its quite the opposite actually, rather you should say its a comedy anime with really well written arcs/episodes on the side. Those "pointless" episodes in gintama you mention of are actually one of, if not, the best things in the entire show
