It’s actually one of the biggest more memorable things to playing the OG game as a kid for me. Starting off in midgar gave the game same such a particular feel. Then you hit the main game and the rest of it’s map. There the game/story became so much more. It was truly a journey on the grandest scale for my 9 year old brain

The problem with modern open world games compared to old final fantasies is thought that while they are mechanically bigger, they are WAY smaller in scale. The world of FF7 is a whole planet. Hyrule is just a kingdom and in real world scale not even a big one. Old overworld maps symbolised movement over great distances. So I don't know how they're going to tackle this.

I feel like you will be able to use party members as assist like Tales of Arise. In Arise each character is specialized in stunning specific enemies, like a gunner girl has a special bullet that knocks down flying enemies that you can have her do when her assist gauge is full whether she's on your current party or off party.

Tales of arise is not a good battle system and they are referring most likely to the way Yuffie dlc combo attacks work aka Chrono trigger Team tech attacks.

Developer Comment #2 just really had me. This is EVERYTHING I wanted to see interms of the design approach they are going with FF VII rebirth and when the art director talked about him being influenced by Horizon Zero Dawn's game world, FF VII OG fans are really getting what they wanted in terms of full exploration. hey y'all, I found smth interesting in the OG ff7. Search up the OG FF7 full playthrough by Lacry and watch the cutscene at 12:18:20. Sephiroth gains the black materia and monologues saying a very specific line "And soon, I will create the future." Almost makes me think the developers had planned FF7 Remake trilogy FROM THE VERY BEGINNING lol. Also, I can see Leslie and Sonon fighting alongside Zack (maybe possible face reveal Kunsel)

I want to remind everyone that the ending of part 1 and the new fate literally means that best case scenario Aerith won’t die alongside all the other. Bad case scenario somebody else dies, which is only worse if somehow Tifa or Cloud die. WORST CASE NOW MULTIPLE CHARACTERS DIE! Like seriously, considering how FF7 is a journey about saving the world, losing only Aerith is somewhat of a good result. A party of 9-1 aren’t exactly bad numbers.

I have a tinfoil hat theory that goes hand in hand with ending at Northern Crater. What if, when we get the scene where Cloud hands over the black materia to Sephiroth in North Crater, Future Sephiroth steals it. And that's the real departure from the og. Where FF7 Sephiroth gets left in the ice or whatever while Advent Children Sephiroth (whom we can all agree is the one that's been fucking with Cloud) takes it and uses it for his means. Maybe siphoning the power from Calamity like it seemed he did in that Destiny's whatever the fuck location at the end of FF7R

I dont think they are living different timelines because it doesnt have much sense, i firmly believe they are on the same timeline and Cloud and co. Will get nods to the change in the timeline for example having Barret questioning the other Stamp logo, or Jessie being in golden saucer like she never was avalanche and so other stuff

It would be so awesome if we could tag in other playable characters like we could in FFX right in the middle of battle. If you see a flying enemy, tag in Barret or Vincent. You need a heal? Get Aerith in there. Need a speedy attacker for a slow enemy? Get Tifa or Yuffie. Need heavy hitters for tougher enemies? Swap in Cloud or Cid. There's lots of potential in Rebirth with the combat that I really hope they take advantage of.

I believe post Advent Children Aerith in the lifestream is acting through Remake Aerith to thwart at least an aspect of post Advent Children Sephiroth to change the timeline/liefestream memory to where he was not defeated. Acting through Remake Aerith, Aerith in the lifestream created the golden sparkle timeline (same sparkles emitted from her hand at the portal as appeared in the explosion Zack saw over Midgar, a timeline/memory where Biggs at least is alive as well). I believe the Sephiroth you meet at the Edge of Creation is a different aspect trying to rid himself of Jenova.

I would LOVE to switch team members around mid-fight like in FFX, because it allows you to specialize with each character in a different role, hence making their gameplay more unique. It would make the fights feel more dynamic as well. I need to steal something from the boss? Let me switch Yuffie in. Need some healing? Get Aerith. I want to poison something? I put all my debuffs on Red. Let's get him in the fight. Now is the time for my big burst damage window. Ok, get all the heavy hitters in the fight. So much more interesting and engaging that way instead of making sure you have a bunch of jack-of-all-trades all the time.

My 2 cents: Rebirth (and the story going forward in general) is a battle between 3 sides. Sephiroth & Jenova, Our Party + Zack (Humanity) and Planet (and it's will). Sephiroth and our party fucked with the Planet's will in Remake as the Planet wants all of humanity + Jenova dead. Sephiroth wants to do what he always wanted. And we want to beat both Planet (although the party doesn't know it yet) and Sephiroth and save humanity. I believe in my own tinfoil hat theory that Sephiroth will not even seek to kill Aerith in the Rebirth. But another character will take his place: Genesis. Genesis has always wanted and was chosen to be Planet's Hero (which never came to fruition in the compilation) so wouldn't it be wild if he became Planet's attack dog in the Rebirth? I totally see Sephiroth doing his classic descent from the light-beam, but instead of trying to kill Aerith he tries to wound and kidnap her to not let her go into Lifestream to prevent the meteor's fall. Only to be fucked by Genesis getting in the way and correcting the timeline and re-aligning the Destiny's Course?

My biggest concern with the FF7 "Remake" was and is the splitting of the game. Why should I play the game and not only watch the Cutszenes on YT: - if level up materia is meaningless? - if level up weapons is meaningless? - if level up charakters is meaningless? - if finding items, weapons, materia is meaningless? The only reason to do the sh*t is to make it to the next storyarc. Now they say no need for playing Remake befor Rebirth? What´s that supposed to mean? That even the skills you learn by playing are meaningless? Everything is erased, nothing means anything, watch our story summary and you are good to go? Sorry, I´m not hyped. Give me the story and music but keep the hidden quest for the uber ultra summoning materia which is gone in part 3.

There is also the kh3 party attacks, if you are close a party member mid combo the finisher is changes into Doble attack. For example if you are next to goofy the moment you land the moment you land your finisher instead of doing your normal combo finisher you throw goofy spinning arround you. 7:40

Im sure, also for shock value, that the game will open up playing Zack. As you navigate through the last events leading up to the end from remake, or an abbreviated version of remake, but from Zack's side. I think this is what they meant with newcomers dont have to play remake first, because this opening section of the game will show a lot of the important parts of remake; while also offering something new for new players. And the long lived fantasy of playing zack. It would be cool for active party members to link to a non active member for a special combo attack. Say Cloud, Tifa and Red XIII are in combat. A meter fills. You push a button and a combo attack begins with Cloud and Vincent. Vincent jumps in over Cloud and begins a barrage of gunfire stunning an enemy while Cloud charges full speed and swings his sword like a batter, using the broadside and flings the enemy into the air. Vincent launches at the airborne enemy as one of his monster forms, encased like a giant fireball and as the enemy is falling back down..Cloud hammers them back into the ground with a spinning Braver. I mean..why not? Lol..and just for good measure you can hear Barret in the background yelling out “ Daaaamnnn”

I'm glad FFXVI is seemingly going the route of FFXII on steroids in terms of world design. For all the problems I have with FFXII's story, the world design of being essentially linear but still having lots of medium to large zones to explore was great and I think its a perfect fit for modern Final Fantasy in general.

I swear this would mke the combat evolve exponentially. Since it already had a very good combat system.

What's crazy to think about is we know the developers of Remake watched Max's reaction videos. So it's safe to assume they still are. Which means the things Max describes, start up menu included, could very well be in the game.

It just occurred to me, what if they put a new big twist on top of the old big twist with this alternate timeline stuff? >Cloud’s flashback is of him as a SOLDIER in Nibelheim >But Tifa remembers him as a regular Shinra nook What if this time around they’re both right due to timeline shenanigans enabled by the removal of any kind of established destiny or fate in part 1? Given the ending the effect seems to be retroactive as well as affecting the present.
