I’m 65. I crawl in the mud under peoples homes and remove contamination and spray for mold. I build a totally sealed encapsulation and install a dehumidifier while exhausting Radon as well. It becomes the cleanest room in the house. I have never been happier about my work. 8 years

He says money can't buy lasting happiness, but money can buy a jetski. And I've never seen anyone unhappy on a jetski.

That can be true. But i think by that he means the first four bring temporary happiness specially when they are achieved . Jetski can definitely make u happy . But after a while the same thing would be so normal for u where u have to move on with the next task to be happy. Ofcourse financial NEEDS are meant to be met like any other human needs but after those needs are met . U have alot of choice how u wanna pursue YOUR life.

He said somewhere else that money will help you with your unhappiness. Happiness and unhappiness aren't opposites.

Kid Rock bought a four wheeler. During a party, a friend disappeared. Found him in a ditch the next morning with a broken neck and the four wheeler Smacking the water is happier than snaking the planet earth. She smacks back.

Without money you will be not able to afford a family, go to hospital, travel with your family. Money it is a huge part of your real flexibility.
@ehsanmoghimi26914 ай бұрын
Definitely. Financial need is a definite part of human needs . Before anything one should attend their needs before anything. But after those are meant, u have a choice to pursue however YOU desire to . Preferably towards ur happiness i guess 🤷🏻♂️

He's referencing the *pursuit* of money. Having money makes things easier, but striving to be rich often has no end and leaves you constantly worrying about it

Yes I agree totally just not the work part. I believe you need to do a work that you enjoy and are passionate about. Not all jobs serve other people.

curious what job, downstream or directly, doesn't serve others down the line? usually that's why work is work and not a hobby, becuase it brings value to others

What about people who don't have children?
@ehsanmoghimi26914 ай бұрын
I think he means sense of family where u feel from the people who are family to you. I think he is referring to the human desire to have sense of family that group of people bring to u. The commitment and trust one would expect from that family group. They dont have to blood related to u. The people u get together just to be family and enjoy each others company and feel home with them .

He’s wrong. Absolutely no work would make me happy. Retirement would though. I’m 35. I think this speaker needs to realise he’s only talking about a subset of people, not all people.

You're doing the wrong work then. You think you'd be happy if you retired, but you wouldn't. Pick a job/career where you can make a difference and it'll bring great meaning to your life.

If you've never had a job where you felt energized and fulfilled, then you truly need to keep looking. Please watch Steve Jobs 2005 Stanford Commencement address.

@@dleblanc, no, you just don’t understand that some humans are different. Some humans like to be able to choose how they spend their free time and they enjoy variety in their days, rather than doing the same thing day in and day out. And some humans do not want to work 8 hours a day every single weekday of their lives. Some humans have interests. It’s really that simple. Jobs under capitalism force us to do the same thing day in and day out, and force us to answer to someone else. There are many things I could do when retired that are work (I’d still have to do housework, for example) that wouldn’t involve employment. I could even volunteer sometimes (but not for 8 hours a day every day). No stress, choosing my own hours, … but still work. I want to retire immediately actually, so I can choose how to spend my time. You (and people with your view) need to understand different humans experience life differently to you.
