Great Guide. Might want to update the description to the latest wiki, it took me a minute to find the right scripts to run on the Ender 3 V3 KE. But overall it worked flawlessly. Unfortunately I can't use my spare Elgato FaceCam because it requires USB 3.0 to run. Oh well, looks like I'll be getting a different camera. A note for those of you that do this and find that your print head isn't laying down filament directly on the bed but just creates a jumbled mess, check your Z offset. Running the printers self calibration doesn't seem to solve the offset issue since Mainsail and the device itself will have conflicting values. So, if your printer shows an offset of -2.25 but the print head is too high off the bed and you adjust it in Mainsail it will ADD whatever value you input to what is on the printer. For example, the printer shows -2.25 and you adjust it in Mainsail -2.25 the Z offset will now be -5.00, which may cause the nozzle to crash into the build plate. I found that it's best to adjust the offset on the PRINTER ONLY, and you will see a value change in Mainsail. Once you get the offset where you want it, click the save button in Mainsail and you're good to go. It will reboot Klipper and your combined values will be accurate and you shouldn't have any issues. Hope this helps.

There are options to remove the customizations in the script. You can also factory reset the printer and it will clear out any changes.

@@TH3DStudio I almost did that but then I started digging into what was wrong. The Z axis offset was not calibrating correctly so I messed with it a little bit and got it dialed in. She's printing like a champ now. This is my first 3d printer and my first experience with any of this, so there's a bit of a learning curve, but your guide is top notch! Thanks a ton!

Fantastic video and so necessary. Thank you! I hope you found a way to actually control the speed too. No matter what I do from 50 to 500mm/s the V3 KE always results in the same print time (as shown in the slicer, roughly) so the speed change doesnt impact it at all. I havent actually printed and timed it, I am speaking of the projected time shown in the slicer both creality and Orca that I use more often.

Ok, I'm new to 3d printing and using the slicing software. I've been using the ender 3 v3 ke since December. I'm also using Creality Print and the cloud app to monitor remotely with the nebula camera. I also have Cura, but it does not have a profile for the ke. What are the benefits of rooting my printer. Can you please explain to me what the differences would be. And how much better my printer will work.

This is a really great guide! You just need to add one thing - instructions for changing the root password. You already had them SSH and login as root, just add a "passwd root" command to your instructions so they don't leave the default password there indefinitely.

What about using the touch screen after these software mods? I've done all these and love the results. The only downside is all of the controls from the touch screen aren't usable. Emergency stop is one of them. Is there a way to have mainsail be the UI on the touchscreen?

i got touchscreen working!!! I used the K1 KE helper script by Guilouz on github it rotates the screen 90 deg. i absolutely LOVE my ender3 v3 KE now. The mod software is for the touchscreen and the k1/KE use the same t.screen pad as the KE.. so now. i have mainsail installed... USB webcam running... removed creality web stuff so mainsail is the main control via web so i dont have to use:ports. and got the touchscreen working and showing print progress and telemetry.

This was the closest information I found to rooting the CR10 SE. Unfortunately now I can not use the adxl for input shaping. I get this error when trying to run resonance calibration - {"code":"key119", "msg": "Invalid adxl345 id (got ff vs e5).This is generally indicative of connection problems(e.g. faulty wiring) or a faulty adxl345 chip.", "values": ["ff", "e5"]}

Hi. Firstly, thanks for working on this guide and sharing it. I used it to root my e3v3ke. I have a few questions: 1. Is there any place where I can help with improving/contributing/reporting bugs with the script? 2. I seem to be unable to compile firmware for secondary mcu (eg: pico) probably because of missing sources/compiler on the klipper on the e3ke. But maybe, I could do that on another computer instead of this. Would that work? 3. I've been using zerotier to connect to my other rpi/klipper printer(s) and it's very helpful. opkg provides zerotier package but there is no tun/tap kernel module on the linux running on e3ke. If there's a way to fix that, it'd be great. Thanks again for the work on this script!

I noticed that my Ender 3 v3 SE prints are slant. I checked the printer's alignment and noticed that the z axis is not square (it is tilted backwards). I found a y-axis support kit to install on Aliexpress. There are also some options on thingverse. I'm still deciding which option I'm going to test. Any thoughts?

thank you for ythe step by step. i got the basics and then started modding my self. One thing that i haven't understood yet. I installed the guffy UI for me ender 3 ke (printed a nice piece also to rotate 90 degrees my screen), the input shaping scripts are within. So input shaping is done manually? without the accelerometer sensor that was configured automatically by the reality UI? ijust saw that you have a dedicated guide on your website. thanks for your reply!!!

Tks for the Tut, was easy enough to follow but even with this ROOT Nebula pad, we have some issues with the version of klipper that is installed in it :( Wanted to install Beacon3D scanner for my bed and i can't because the Klipper won't let me do so! Missing files needed to install their module to control the beacon ... quite frustrating and looking into finding a solution for this ;) If yoiu have any ideas lol

I have not because I use local IP access over my VPN. You could setup a VPN endpoint or other box on your network to facilitate a VPN into your network in general.

You could just setup Port Forwarding into Mainsail and access it over the internet just make sure you enable logins and dont use defaults.

Only reason I am looking to do any mods to this printer is the simple fact that if I attempt to print a gcode and leave the USB stick in the print crashes with error code 2194 every time, if I pull the USB stick after it copies to internal works just fine

What you're describing is either hardware or firmware related. Using Mainsail /Fluidd or removing Creality Cloud will not change that.

Good morning. I have an ender 3 v3 KE running installed Klipper What i don't understand is this. At the start of a print the bed sets to 60c and remains constant the head starts at 180c when it reaches set temperature remains a while then resets to 200c when it reaches set temperatures it resets to 140c then starts bed levelling cycle during which temperature drops to approx 109c then has to wait for temperature to reach 220c is this correct has it wastes time before starting. @@nebsonic I think Creality Print only works with their own interface. If you plan on using Creality Print, I would suggest not removing Creality Cloud from the printer. You can still use Mainsail but you'll have to specify the port or use a reverse proxy to masquerade the port.

Haven't messed with the Kamp setting or screw one. I'd try installing it and seeing it it works but I don't think it's needed on this machine.

Its probably your browser caching the old page. Try holding CTRL and clicking the browser refresh. If that fails clear the browser cache. happens to us too.

@@TH3DStudio meanwhile i instaled everything ( great tutorial btw, congrats) and tested the Guppy Screen instalation and it worked, it just gives an error that we have to install "klipper gcode shell command" first. IT is in the landscape mode but it is miles away better then the creality UI. Have to print the suport for the landscape mode and it will be perfect. I don,t remember where i saw that someone else instaled ( i think it is in the github of the helper script) Until now i just tested the axis and the bed calibration ( with just the screen) and all worked fine . I read that are some functions doesnt work and we have to modify some files to fix it. Btw i also installed octoeverywhere ( for remote acess) with your method and everything installed without problem. Don,t had any luck with an usb cam that i have but i guess i will have to buy a diferent one.

Still running it on ours with no issue. Maybe your camera is not working or its not supported by the linux OS on the machine. Our EZCams work on there.

You cant use any slicer wirelessly over the wifi, except Creality's own slicer which isnt nearly as good as others (I used Orca). This fixes that issue. You cant use any webcam to monitor your print remotely or do timelapse. This fixes that issue.

I can get everything done except the (chmod +x /etc/init.d/S99mjpg_streamer) command. it tells me there is no file found. Man I have tried 4 more times. wiping my printer and starting fresh and everything. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

For some reason nano wont run with the command /etc/init.d/S99mjpg_streamer. If i input opkg install nano it says that nano is installed in root and is up to date, but if i run /etc/init.d/S99mjpg_streamer it replys -sh: /etc/init.d/mjpg_streamer: not found . Any thoughts?

Doesnt work anymore. The helper script github doesnt have any wiki tab, and wiki link in the description on github leads has a different commands then shown in the video and also using different program not putty. ALSO also i cannot paste innto putty. Ctrl+V doesnt work for me. Seems like putty is useless imma go follow the official helper github guide instead.

You also don't have to use PuTTY. In fact, I'm pretty sure Windows has an SSH CLI tool at least since PowerShell was introduced. PuTTY just provides a UI.
